Then my ONLY mistake (YOU are from HJ)........I was speaking of Jasper, if you read back......I put Silsbee and HJ in the same league, I think anyone that views sports unbiasly will agree Silsbee and HJ are fairly evenly matched (yes HJ has the edge, ya'll have proved that, dating back to last year). But on that note.......YOU keep saying with Burrell.......fair enough, I really hope both are healthy on the neutral court. I feel HJ has to be the favorite, however IF Silsbee wins, it would be a slight upset, yes. Now with all of that said.....This is a SILSBEE -v- JASPER thread........and I stand by everything I've already said.......SILSBEE WINS! (by as much as they want to win by) if not it will be a HUGE upset!

Wrong....Teams do get better (all teams) not just YOUR team........I just think the stats and quality of wins that Silsbee has since the first meeting has proven that Silsbee has gotten better as the year progresses as well........the only problem Jasper has is Silsbee has progressed TWICE as much as Jasper......but you are playing at home, which should keep it in the low double digits, I say 15 - 20 points!

Silsbee (minus two players) still beat HJ by 2. Silsbee (minus two BENCH players) beat HJ (without one of its best players) by 2. Not going to get into this again except to make sure facts are stated.......#40 is a starter (approx 10 ppg) #30 (I think) yes bench player, however he scored 18 including four of six 3's (approx 10 ppg) maybe HJ wins maybe not......but they weren't both BENCH players, and the other provides plenty of scoring off the bench!

Definition of Prediction - foretell on the basis of observation, experience, or scientific reason With that said.....Silsbee Wins! I guess you could predict and upset, but as stated below, you would be defying conventional wisdom! Definition of Upset - Upset is a term used when referring to a competition, frequently in sports. When an upset occurs, the party popularly expected to win (the favorite) is defeated by an underdog the majority expects to lose, defying the conventional wisdom.

so if Silsbee were to lose a game "heaven forbid it" it would be because Silsbee allowed it. And since Silsbee may not take other teams seriously they can lose but not really lose because they didn't really care one way or another if they won or lost. So when the playoffs arrive I hope that Silsbee is able to take the game seriously or they could be seriouisly looking at baseball. :0 Not what i said.......I'm sure they will take the playoffs seriously, there are teams as good or better than Silsbee around the state, and they CAN be beat, on any given day.......Just not by anyone in this district, unless they falter......no one in this district comes anywhere close to the talent that Silsbee and HJ have PERIOD! You can have school pride and support your school an that's fine.......but facts are facts, to much talent and coaching from Silsbee and HJ! Examples of that would Silsbee and HJ losing to Hudson.......Hudson is nowhere near the caliber team of Silsbee and HJ!

Yes I am from Silsbee......but, the thread states PREDICTIONS......not your favorite team, or who you want to win......all the back and forth over the Silsbee -v- HJ game was legit, either was capable of beating the other (as far as talent goes) if any team in this district were to beat Silsbee OR HJ.....it would simply be a fluke, and a 1 in who knows what odds....... Silsbee wins this game going away, even after watching Silsbee beat Kville last night 110 - 50, it was obvious they weren't playing with the same intensity that they played with against HJ......a better example of this was Silsbee -v- Oragngefield at Silsbee, and I'm sure it is the same when HJ plays others......FACT is......Silsbee an HJ allow other games to be as close as they are, the credit goes to their lackidasical (sp) play rather than the ability of anyone else in this district......PERIOD! Silsbee by as many or few as they want it to be! Yes.......even in YOUR house! IF jasper does win, it will be because Silsbee didn't take the game seriously......which I doubt will happen!

I don't agree with you, because it didn't include "everyone" involved, very isolated. but then that is why we call it a public forum..........you do have the right to your opinion!

This was at WOS #1...........so why should Silsbee administration be ashamed.........the COACH, not UIL suspended the players in question, what else should he do.........WOS fans........not Silsbee's were on the floor fighting, WOS throwing balls at Silsbee players...........and yes the 2 that got suspensions probably deserve it........but then read the article above..........NO WOS PLAYERS SUSPENDED AT THIS TIME! You said you needed facts, great, but wait until you get them before making comments like you did about Silsbee being ashamed of themselves. Here are some more facts: WOS - parent on the floor last year at Silsbee during Girls game, yelling and screaming after a foul. WOS - parent (fan) ejected at Evadale -v- Silsbee in Girls playoff last year. WOS - Fighting in FB -v- Dayton this year WOS - Fighting -v- Silsbee in boys BB this year (and these are just the ones "I" know about!) Call it what you want.......My Facts were of incidences STARTED by WOS.......not those they were involved in......true enough it doesn't look good for Silsbee.......however, from video of WOS, and being present -v- HJ..........Silsbee only retaliated (not condoning this) to what players from WOS and HJ did to them....... No foot to remove........Silsbee did fight (retaliate) which is wrong by any measures.......but they were not the ones that threw a BB into the back of another player, nor were they the ones that were swinging elbows at anyone and everyone, well after the play was over. :-\ With all of that said, I will also agree with with what another poster said earlier.......it all could have been avoided had the game been controled by the officiating.......they (both teams) were allowed to get a little out of control towards the end of that game.

\ And it doesn't help when the local media (channel 4) finds it necessary to show footage on the 10pm news, especially the part they showed.........a comment was made about it not being in it's entireity.........however, very distasteful IMO. Nothing was gained by it..........the other channels 6 & 12 didn't air it :-\ Not defending any of the actions of Silsbee players in any way..........regardless of who thinks started what.........it shouldn't happen.........I just don't feel it should be flanted all over the news channels, especially if you're not going to show the ENTIRE footage for all to see!

Is this for BB or SB? There is Chip Ferguson's place that has several instructors. Gary Ridge instructs both BB and SB, very good and throrough. There are several individual instructors throughout the Bmt area in SB. PM me, I can give you contact info for several.

I believe the term "mid-major" has to do with enrollment of the school.....a school (lets say Lamar) could win the NC 5 straight years, if their enrollment doesn't go up, they would still be a mid-major university! On the other hand, (let's say Duke Univ.) were to drop from the ranks of college basketball powerhouse, and not win a single game for the next 5 seasons......unless their numbers drop, they would NOT be considered a mid-major! As far as Houston being on this list??? who knows, check their enrollement numbers, what they were in the 80's may not be the same as today, remember, they did go from a Southwest Conf school to a Conf USA school! For the most part, schools that participate in the BCS conf (as far as football goes) are all Major universities! Conf known as mid-amjors would be Conf USA - WAC - MAC - SLC - Sun Belt - etc!

Here is another take on all of this: (I'm not agreeing OR disagreeing with this situation) It has been mentioned on here that it doesn't matter what MLB rules are or were, the law of the land stated it was against the law........PERIOD, and that takes presidence over MLB rules anyway.....fair enough! Consider this: During the early 1900's (Babe Ruth's era) this country had something called prohibition.......maybe you've heard of it..............now we also know through history, that the Babe was a partier, and lived a rough life.........so does that mean just because MLB didn't have a rule against drinking..........but the law of the land did.........his records should all be tarnished as well? Not to mention all the DUI's that players and coaches of today are charged with.......illegal is illegal........who defines which is worse........whether it enhances the players performance or not.........it's still illegal!

The beauty of this site is you can voice opinion, you can agree, you can disagree......gotta love Amersica! Now the facts......If you were to go back to every game and track stats. (Regarless of the sport, but we'll use basketball since we're in the BB forum), you will see: The number of missed free throws, the number of missed shots (and just count those inside 10'), the number of second shots the other team got (due to lack of defensive rebounding) the number of turnovers (that led to points) will add up to more points in which any team has lost by! You can have the opinion that the frustration level (due to bad calls) have created these lack of performances, but it still comes down to execution, execution, execution! And for a coach, parent, or fan to state otherwise, only teaches our kids to whine and make excuses, rather than work harder, and eliminate the outside influences to accomplish their goals. Even if you're right, LIFE is not fair......learn and teach to work through it......not whine and make excuses!

Yes he does have good points.......but why can't we say these things about HS coaches, without it being deleted, or being threaten to be kicked off?

Officials NEVER, I repeat NEVER cost a team a win! Even if it's the last call of a game in a game winning situation! Regardless of the sport, alot of game is played, during 4 quarts, 4 periods, 7 innings, etc, so for one to say that a few calls, or miss calls determined the outcome of game is crazy....... What if your team hadn't fumbled, or threw the INT, or missed free throws, or struck out......many times teams miss opportunities throughout the game that could have been just a critical........officials do miss calls, so do coaches, so do players......it's all part of the game.......learn to WIN and LOSE gracefully!

Fair enough..... "most HJ fans" that post on here! "We Silsbee" I'm sure in this case I do represent what most Silsbee fans believe. "good team" nope I wasn't there, but I can only assume (and yes I know what assuming does) that if HJ lost to them (even on a bad night) they MUST be good! Now for MY question: With all the excitment on this board in many different sports, why did you choose my comments to make your FIRST post? I am flattered!
