4.
I've got no idea why people can be down on this team.  Personally, I expected a 3-8 season; 4-7 at best, figuring that we'd beat the NAIA tomato cans at home and maybe beat one of the other new programs (S. Alabama or Ga. State).  To likely go 5-6 with two wins over "real" FCS teams is a great season.          Do we have flaws?  Of course!  We're a first year program!  Given the number of injuries we've had, the struggles with the running game, and the unfortunate regression of Andre Bevil during the season, we've done pretty well.  While 71-3 was embarrassing, we had to expect we'd take a whooping like that at some point in the season given the youth of the team.  In reality, I felt the only unacceptable performance we put up all year was against South Alabama--for a game against another new program, we should have made a much better showing that we did.  But young teams sometimes play bad games.          Let's see what a full off-season of conditioning, another recruiting class, and a little more experience can do for us--we'll need it given the difficulty of next season's schedule.  And... by the way, just to show that I can be critical: please, Ray--get another damned kicker.  I understand Stout was hurt this year--I'm not saying that we have to run him off--but to not have ANYONE ELSE on the roster that can kick a kickoff to avoid giving the other team the ball on the 40 every time is inexcusable.  I will also say it was disappointing to see the number of empty seats at P-U last night: if it had been pouring rain, I could see the sparse crowd, but the weather, while blustery, was hardly that bad.  I mean, I'd far prefer to go a game with the weather of last night than the sweatbox for the game against Webber.          It would be nice to come out next week and put a serious hurting on a team we should smoke, first year squad or not.  It'd be a good springboard into the off-season.
+1 I think we started to look like a team Saturday night. Prewitt has come in and given some stability at QB position. He is managing the game and not turning the ball over as much as Bevil. He has given us a chance to win. Very few teams could overcome the amount of turnovers Bevil was making. Bevil is a decent little athlete but not a QB. I'm not sure Prewitt is the answer either as our future QB. He is very small also, 5'11" and 171 lbs, he definitely needs to put on some muscle. Maybe get up to 190 lbs if possible. 5 wins, I think we could consider that to be a successful start for our first year. I was thinking we might win 4. Just wondering what might have been, if Prewitt would have been the QB from the start of the season. Maybe a couple more wins?????? I hope to see everyone next Saturday at our last home game. These guys deserve our support. They have not given up and continue to play hard. Little by little they have improved. Are they a great team? No, but they are trying to get better. They have given me some hope for next season. Another recruiting class and another year of strength and conditioning gives me hope for even more improvement in our team. Hopefully, we will have improved enough to be in the SLC race for the championship. GO BIG RED!

Not a coach or expert but have to give him some time.
I think we have plenty of talent in SETX...I would recruit here first...why not?
you seen the team?..a bunch of setex kids
. I really don't care where they are from. I just want them to be able to play some good hard nose football.
6.
Let us stop all the hating on each other and realize two things.  First the majority of our coaches have never coached at this level in the last 3 years.  Second most of our players have not played at this level.  In my opinion we must get better at coaching and bring in better players and maybe just maybe we can get competitive.  Now you can hate on me or whatever but it is not about me but about them.
+1....Let's keep supporting the Cardinals. I don't think the problem is effort. I just don't think we have the players yet to compete with most of these FCS teams. We need a good off-season of hitting the weights and conditioning for our lineman. We need help in the quarterback and running back positions (bigger, stronger and faster). I'm also definitely not impressed with our freshman kicker. I just think we have some talent issues. Our coaches have to get some better players in here. I also realize this takes some time. Let's not get too down on the coaches and players, I think they are trying. Let's just give our program time to get better.
7. I think with BYU leaving, they have 10 members. So, maybe they stay at 10. I would think if they are considering UH, they might consider UTEP also.
8. My bad! I was thinking there would be seven football playing schools left in the SLC if Txst and UTSA got an invite to the WAC. There would be eight teams left. Not the end of world, unless a couple of the Louisiana schools were to drop out. I just can't see Lamar staying in the conference, if the only options the SLC has, is to invite D2 schools. To me, Lamar's only option would be to try to get back in the Sun Belt when there is an opening.
9. I would like for Lamar to be included with UTSA and TxST but that may not happen. So my question is,with the budget crisis in Louisiana and the possibility of losing 1 or more Louisiana schools, what would be the SLC options? The conference would be down to six or less schools. What D2 school could they invite or what conference could they merge with, etc? I do not like this scenario, but I think this is real possibility. What options does the SLC have or what do you think the SLC will do?
10. Mcneese leads the all-time series 20-12-1 and according to the NCAA, last year McNeese averaged 12,948 for their home games.
11. I also drove by the stadium this evening(7:15).  Team was practicing on the practice fields. They have started to put down landscaping. Very nice accent lighting is installed. Provost-Umphrey is starting to come together. We will have a stadium we can all be proud of. I'm ready for some tailgating and some Big Red football!
12. Well deserved!  Congratulations, Coach Ricklefsen!
13. My congratulations to Taylor. He's an outstanding kicker!
14. We have a group of six season tickets with tailgating passes. Are you ready for some football!!!!!!!!!!!!
15. Cardinals tie the game up 8-8, going to the bottom of the 7th.
16. Cards win 22-5! ;D
17. I would imagine that will be one of the last things, they will do. It's kinda like building a new house, one of the last things to go down is the carpeting or flooring. I'm guessing July or August.
18. I was in line Saturday for season tickets, when i overheard Lamar President Jimmy Simmons tell another person in line that Billy Tubbs wanted to go FBS in five years. He also said, if they do enlarge the stadium they probably would build sections in the gaps between the Montagne Center and the ends of the stadium and then add a second deck on east side. It would seat about 35,000. I'm not a regular here. I've been lurking around just reading the comments about LU sports. I thought I would add my two cents today. I found the Lamar Presidents comments interesting. I thought I would share  what I overheard. I'm not sure if any of this has been previously posted.
