  1. Haynes from Central. Plays end and LB. Coleman from WB. Coleman played LB most of this season - collegiately he will play DE.
  2. This is what it is all about. My hat is off to the ETBU coaches and players.
  3. I have never met a select baseball coach that could or would keep all of his promises. Also, please dont be mislead, whether you or the organization pays the bills - there is a "cost" to play select ball. Seek out the organization that truely covets your son for the right reasons. The coaches and staff that talk about work ethic and character development and a staff that builds confidence in its players. With most of these coaches player development for some players ends when a player from another organization becomes "available". This practice in itself I wouldnt say is bad - except that very few organizations will tell you up front that they will not stop seeking the best avaliable talent and eventually this may diminish some players playing time and opportunities. It takes integrity to declare these things and most simply wont be honest with parents and recruits up front. There is a difference between organizations that fill roster spots versus organizations that actually develop potential and talent. Every select coach I have ever met talks the talk - very few walk the walk. I am a believer in select baseball and its rewards for players that continue to work towards their goals and dreams. Hard honest work never goes unrewarded. Find the organization that will develop work ethic and will build confidence in your son.
  4. Good Job Scooter - Brown lights it up when he wants to.
  5. Justin Williams - Deweyville
  6. Justin Williams - Deweyville
  7. Sherard Romar - Cathedral High School - 77 Tackles
  8. Rob Ashabranner - Cathedral High School - 6' 2" 265 lbs. 1st Team All District - District Defensive MVP - 2006 Season
  9. Very well stated Maverick. We cant sell tickets to watch kids solve for x.
  10. Two very good Coaches indeed.
  11. Roman Antoine and Sage Malone - Westbrook
  12. Congrats - Destin
  13. To suggest that a kid from Nederland could or would be more productive than a kid from Deweyville simply because he is from a larger school makes little to no sense. We will never know how the Nederland RB would perform if he played at Deweyville nor will we ever know how the Deweyville RB would play if he played at Nederland. But to suggest one is better than the other based on physical address invalidates your argument. Personally I think both RB's are excellent talents in their own rights and both posess the talent to play at the next level. I dont know what level that may be but they are both candidates in my opinion. Best of luck to both young men.
  14. I have known Dwight Bickham for quite a few years. I know him as a coach and as a person. As a coach his players are prepared well and play hard - they represent Deweyville very well. As a person it is amazing to me that someone would say he doesnt care about the kids involved with the Athletic Program at Deweyville. If I am not mistaken he currently coaches kids of ex-teammates and classmates of his from years past. Please dont suggest he doesnt care about the young athletes that participate in Deweyville Athletics. We make AD's accountable for the total athletic program - thus - they must have the authority to hire their own staff. Hold Dwight accountable for the staff he has hired - dont make up problems before they have actually occurred.
  15. Select baseball is has proven to be a double edged sword in Beaumont. It has been great for those able to participate, however it has had a severely negative effect on league ball. Pony league baseball is gone now in Beaumont and Sr League ball is very very poor - as is any league when every decent pitcher is no longer avaliable for league play. I applaud Mid County and their Babe Ruth League for maintaining their quality status and pride in league play whereas in Beaumont we have lost that. For those kids that get the additional exposure it is most definately a tremendous vehicle for advancement and opportunity. For the general baseball loving citizen and average baseball playing youth - it has damaged baseball in Beaumont.
  16. As I understand it - Cathedral Christian Defensive Tackle - Rob Ashabranner received a scholarship offer this week from Rice University. Recruiting Services still have him listed as a Vanderbilt commit. McNeese University is said to be showing interest in Cathedral Running Back Dannie Davis. It appears that Coach Shad Smith is doing a great job developing his student athletes and getting them exposure at the collegiate level.
  17. Have you had a chance to find out about the young man? About his committment to Vanderbilt etc.... Just following up. Thanks
  18. I read on Rivals.com today that Rob Ashabranner from Cathedral High School in Beaumont verbally committed to play football in the SEC at Vanderbilt. Does anyone have any information on this young man? He sounds like a player and a good pickup by the Commodores.
