  1. There's a better video of Lumberton/BC on the KBMTV 12 Website that's on the same video as WOS/Dayton
  2. liltex - This Raider fan agrees with you 100%.
  3. You're absolutely right!, The backup QB was a huge bright spot for Lumberton. Purks is a very smart engineer on the field. He executed, ran and passed very well. We're very lucky to have him. I'm sure there were others I failed to mention.
  4. It was Lumberton's 4 scores to Bridge City's 1 score. No point after TDs were attempted. If you're wondering about the 1st string play, it was Lumberton 3 scores to BC's 0. Both 2nd teams put up 1 score each. The 1st score came on a 65 yd TD pass to Keith. The 2nd score, a scambling Hughes tossed a 15 yd pass to Jesse Sparks. The final score came on a 3 yd run by the QB Hughes. Offensively, there were a lot of new plays and formations for Lumberton. This year features more passing and finesse than last year. The shotgun looked good and the QB and recievers made many connections. Hughes scrambled well and Sparks and Keith looked stronger than last year. The O line run blocking started off a little slow, but got better as the night went on. Asher and McDonald both ran strong. Defensively, Lumberton looked pretty solid. The defensive line Sparks, Archer and Richardson put a lot pressure on the QB and made several plays behind the line. The LBs filled the holes very well. Beard and Choate looked solid. All the DBs played good and Keith had another interception, picking up where he left off last year. Bridge City had good size, didn't seem too strong in the skilled positions, but pretty good for 3A. Next weeks scrimmage against a strong Dayton team will tell us a lot more about these Raiders. Good luck Raiders, I love watching you play.
  5. I'm not sure where you're coming from LHSAllZone ???, but I agree with WTB's comments. If you have a personal issue, then take it offline. We all support Credeur and we all wish the facilities were better.
  6. Hughes' passing looked great during 7 on 7 this year. He looked very comfortable with the offense and at times L-Town was near unstoppable. He called his own plays and had no problem looking at 3 different receivers each snap where last year he only looked for one or two. He's got a great arm and throws the long ball well. He also turned out to be a tougher runner than expected. Expect more QB options to be incorporated into this year's offense. L-Town is definitely set at QB.
  7. Hughes looked great during 7 on 7 this year. He completed a lot of passes, looked very comfortable and at times seemed unstoppable. He had no problem looking at 3 different receivers each snap where last year he only looked for one or two. I look for Credeur to open it up with the new offense this year. The receivers also look sharper this year with Sparks and Keith returning and more emphasis on the pass. Cowart and Chase McDonald ran good routes and showed excellent hands. Choate is also sharper this year and he's put on more size and made some good catches. With the addition of Shawn Sparks at TE, Asher, Beard, T-Mac, and Richardson in the backfield, L-town appears to be set. I also heard yesterday that Grillo is now healthy and back on the offensive line and that's excellent news. Overall, L-town will be more balanced than last year.
  8. Did Erickson make the trip?
  9. I must be confused, I thought Lumberton beat PNG last year??? I didn't realize PNG was the better team, sorry.
  10. Obviously PNG and Nederland have great traditions and fan bases. My hats off to you. Lumberton may not have the numbers PNG and Big Ned have because their schools have and always have had a heckuva lot more students. But I'll bet you practically the whole Lumberton town shows up wherever the Raiders play! The tradition is definitely starting for L-Town.
  11. 10-3 Livingston in the bottom of the 6th, with Livingston still batting.
  12. Buco: I don't know what you were looking at, maybe you were drinking. 20-4A Newcomer of the Year was quite an honor for him and they don't just hand that out to anyone. Sounds like sour grapes.... did he runover your dog??
  13. I'll have to rely and agree with Soulja on his Predistrict ratings Offense - 3 Defense - 7 However during the District, I rated Central higher than Soulja rated them. Remember Lumberton was coming off a loss at Vidor and they were pumped for Central. The Lumberton-Central game was really a hard fought battle. A late turnover really hurt the Jags, although they were the receiver of an early turnover for an easy TD. Central had a lot more depth than most teams we saw which really played to their advantage the deeper we got into the season. By the time the playoffs came around, Central was lined out and looking good. Seems like I read a lot of fans critizing Coach Stower early in the season, but I personally liked the way he handled the situation throughout. He is a very good coach and I wish him well in his new school. For the Playoffs, I also agree with Soulja's ratings. Obviously those who awarded Central the Army Strong Man Team also agree. Central gets my vote.
  14. I agree except in district play I'd rate them: offense 6 defense 8
  15. yeah that's right, beard stubble on an 8th grader disqualifies him to compete in athletics.... that's brilliant
  16. does anyone really care??? ;D ;D
  17. Yeah the bleachers need to be replaced and upgraded. The concession stands and bathrooms also need to be upgraded. This is a huge priority since you had so much success last year. Got to have a place to put that big crowd!! By the way, are you planning to hire a head coach? Maybe the fans just want to hire a stadium contractor. Sounds a lot like Burnett's new job, give him a call!! Two birds with one stone!
  18. How did Sean Gilley do? Dayton QB around 2003-04.
  19. I wouldn't be surprised if other schools were trying to lure him. He's a great coach and will be in high demand. But with that said, he has a promising future with one of the fastest growing school districts. He's happy in Lumberton and I would be surprised if he left.
  20. Impressive Lumberton Sophs include: Mason Archer-DL Ryan Hughes-QB Ryan Asher-RB
  21. Congrats to Crosby, you played a great game. The Crosby QB ran well and reminded me of the Waller QB last year. The Crosby defense was tough all night. Keep your heads up Raiders, you had a great season. The loss stings and it's tough to end the season like that. We're going to miss Hanna and the rest of the seniors on next year's team, but you had a great two year run and a lot to be proud of with two co-district championships. Congrats also to Big Ned and good luck to the rest of the 20-4A teams, I'll be pulling for you.
  22. From Lumberton, I was pleasantly surprised with the hughes kid the most because of his leadership at qb, he handled the ball very well, passed well, and had some very big runs especially against Ozen. He took a lot of big hits and showed he could handle it on every play. He was very poised for a sophemore. He made some mistakes early on, but got better every game. He also seems to be pretty humble and a good team player. The qb position was the biggest question mark for Lumberton coming in the season after losing last year's seniors, I think he more than answered the bell.
  23. Believe me, the situation could be much worse. Just be careful watch you wish for.....
  24. Very impressed with Lumberton's Soph QB Ryan Hughes. He gets my vote.
  25. Raiders defense stays tough, Hanna runs wild. Raiders win 35-7.
