The Livingston offense is one-dimensional.....
Huggie replied to EagleAG03's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I know what you're saying and agree; at some point, it may haunt you and maybe not in district play. Lumberton had a big line and three good backs last year and we rode that horse all the way into the first round of the playoffs and we went home quickly. Vidor is similar and they lost to Central 57-56. One thing for sure, there is a lot of interesting games to come in 20-4A. I still think Livingston will make their mark, no doubt about it after what I've seen. Didn't the Lions have a decent passing attack last year with Harris? -

Livingston is an awesome team and I wouldn't be surprised if they won the rest of their games in 20-4A play. But when a team passes 2-3 times a game, they are definitely one dimensional from that stand point. Obviously the Lions are very good at running the ball and are exceptional with their play fakes. Their runners cut and juke as they hit the holes and makes it even harder to stop. Their runners are strong and can move the pile. The O line is big, so they have all the ingredients to being a successful run team. A little more passing would be a killer and would keep the opposing defenses honest and the D-backs from cheating up on the line. Go Lions. -
Good points ROT. The similarity between Vidor and Livingston starts with their O line.

The Raiders have respect for all of the 20-4A teams. I think the Lumberton/Vidor game will be a toss up, but you know I'm pulling for my Raiders. Watch out for Livingston!

ST4life: We'll take our lousy scoreboard and speakers. We'll also take our field and seating capacity, our fire marshall, our horns, our announcer, our play clocks and mostly our win just like we got from you a couple of weeks ago. We know your opinion, you know ours. I like our position a lot better than yours.
-
Lionfan: First, give me your honest opinion of your announcer. Second, I appreciate your posts and I think everyone understands the situation in Livingston. Lastly, although every team in 20-4A is tough, my prediction is that Livingston will join Vidor, Lumberton, and Central in the playoffs. Your thoughts?

EagleAg: Thanks for the information on Livingston's field. I know we beat this topic pretty good, but other team's fans who visit there will probably have similar comments in the future. The people from Lumberton certainly are not uppity, believe me, we're along way from having the facilities like PNG or Nederland. Livingston had a lot of fans in attendance and I hope they get a new field at their High School location, they certainly deserve it.

*Lumberton vs. Livingston/RAIDERS WIN!!
Huggie replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Alright, I've had a chance to read the posts, drink my coffee and reflect on last night's game in Livingston. Wow, what a game it was. I know all the 20-4A games were close, but the Lumb/Liv game probably didn't get the press it should have. First off, Livingston may win the rest of their games, they are that good. Their biggest problem on offense is their inability to pass, although they have a tremendous running attack, they are one dimensional and in the end probably cost them the game. They are a lot like Lumberton was last year with their O line and backs. Now let's talk about the Livingston facilities for a second, cause I know the good folks from PNG and Nederland will visit there this year. The Livingston people were very friendly, but the facilities were the pits. The field looked like a goat yard, it was tore up and the grass was all clumpy looking and no grass in the middle. The play clock operator was either very inexperienced, maybe preoccupied, but very bad. The refs continually pressed to get the play clock started. I have no problem with female announcers, ESPN has several good ones, but when you're bad, you're bad! Her voice could stop a freight train and I was afraid she might stop the L-train by herself. I remember that scene in Jaws when quint (?) scraped his nails on the chalk board and everyone grabbed their ears, it was about the same with her voice last night. Irritating. Maybe that's what they want the visitors to hear, I don't know. Lumberton played as a team and there were many great individual performances. I was very proud to be from Lumberton last night. It's gonna be a tough road ahead as all the remaining games will be very competitive. To sum it up, we were very fortunate to get out of Livingston with a win and I was very glad to leave that stadium! I hope Livingston will organize and get a booster club to raise money and improve their facilities, maybe they're working on it. I can tell you if a big visiting crowd goes to Livingston, they will be very disappointed. -

I don't think anyone is being "uppity" for wanting to watch their sons or their team play high school football. If Livingston schedules a home game and they know teams will bring 4-5 thousand fans, why not plan ahead and bring in extra bleachers or something. They've had 9 months since last year, it's not like they just found out about it yesterday. Like I said in another post, they also stand to gain financially from ticket sales and concessions. I'm sure not only the visiting fans but the home fans would appreciate some accomodating arrangements especially with the team's success on the field.

*** Breaking News *** Livingston Stadium

Sorry, I couldn't resist ;D But I hope someone comes up with a better plan than shutting the gates! That's a lot of dollars standing outside (tickets, consessions, programs) -
Livingston, TX - AP Wire Friday night, City detectives from Lumberton discovered a new football stadium behind the Livingston, Texas High School. The new stadium had thousands of Livingston fans screaming at the 150' Jumbotron as they watched the The Lumberton-Livingston football game being broadcast. The Livingston Fire Marshall was found in the Visitors Suite Box and was quoted "We're having a heckuva time". Earlier in the week and a show of incredible generosity, the Livingston Athletic Dept donated 1500 tickets to Lumberton fans so they could also watch the game.

Upset Speacial of the Week....LCM over PN-G?
Huggie replied to TexAgNDN's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
PNG will win this game. LCM will not stop the passing game and their offense hasn't played a defense as good as PNG's.
