merka this merka that.i playd with him for 3yr he ISNT a good qb! he's a good ath playn qb he couldnt hit the side of a barn from 10yds out.i seen it for 3yr.was he cros off? yea,you would b to if coach made plays just for you! but he throws the ball to.ha go look at the tape no ball thrown ova 20yds haha but he's a qb nope he's a ath playn qb. cros didnt have any good wr's? go look at the rosters we had young wr's that grew up as the reason went on..but look at #1 and #22 stats senior wr's that made plays WHEN we got the ball.also #11 a good rb that made plays to.but cros didnt have anybody else? ha naw cros had playmakers.but its hard to be a playmaker when your HEAD coach wnts only one player (merK) to get the ball.anybody could of playd qb for cros all you need to be able to do is...b able drop back an FAKE lik your goin to pass then run or as lng as you can threw bwt 10 to 20yds.then you'll b the perfect ''QB'' for coach flagain...anybody wana go to crosby? there lookn for a QB...
Nice first post fo5. I have only seen Merka play againg PNG, but in those games, he bounced more balls off players chest and hands than bad passes. I feel like Merkas biggest problem was lack of help. You just reinforced that opinion.

I couldn't vote on this poll, because it really depends on what time of year it is. For example, Right now? He's a great guy 19 (30.2%) A month before football season? ehhh...he's tolerable 18 (28.6%) Start of football season he's really annoying 10 (15.9%) Weeks when BH plays Dayton or PNG? he's super annoying and should be kicked off this site for his stupid posting After BH loses to the Purple teams? He's a great guy 19 (30.2%) Maybe I'm wrong and it has more to do with weather, moon cycles and if the fish are biting! Either way, I do know that this board would be far less entertaining without the Smoking Baby!

Pair of good posts Kicker! Another +1 for you. After the game Saturday night, the ensuing comments on this board and watching the Johnson-Finnegan debacle on Sunday, it leaves me wondering what happened to sportsmanship? Teenagers playing a game is one thing. Adult fans and pro players is another. How can we, as adults, criticize the play of kids when we behave no better ourselves? Yeah, I'm talking to my purple brothers and the purple haters too. Thanks for putting it into perspective Kicker.

We will see if it makes any difference! -
Manvel was the better team, no doubt. There were too many personal foul penalties called last night on both teams. I dont really believe that either team was trying to play dirty; there was just a lot of emotion and hard playing going on. Both teams are too well coached to stoop to dirty play. Congratulations to The Manvel Mavericks. I hope you play with the same intensity and drive you showed last night throughout the playoffs. Congrats to the Indians for a wonderful season. After Mid-County Madness, NOBODY could see the Indians in the 3rd round of the playoffs. Y'all left it all on the field last for the last 7 games and especially last night. This was a remarkable, turnaround season that all us Indian fans will remember.
The farther you get west of the Trinity, that's what happens. Pretenders like West Brook and West Orange tend to wear on us superior towns. Then you add in idiots like PNG and less educated morons like Beaumont Central, well there you go......smite city. P.S. Throw in a bunch of single-wide computer stealers from Dayton who hang out at Sonic with their video cameras, and you have a redneck reunion. Did I mention in all that, PAM will get beat to death this week?
Hey Scooter! Another post of the week candidate!

I am not very optimistic at this time with McLane selling the team. A $700-800 million dollar price tag on a team that Forbes values at $453 million keeps me from getting my hopes up too much. I guess we will have to wait and see. I dont see too much good happening while there is a For Sale sign on the franchise.

Manvel has 6 linemen over 6'4" and 300lbs. I read in an earlier post that one of Manvel's QBs has an offer. I know factually that 9 Manvel starters have offers and we are looking at 4 on the 2nd string. What we love about m=Manvel's depth is that 3rd and 4th quarters are normal played by Manvel's 3rd and 4th string players.
This should officially be marked as the most retarded post EVER om this website. OU Recruiter my rear end. Personally I think you are more likely a kid on the Manvel team who never gets to play. Thanks for the humor this morning though. You actually made me spit in my coffee.
I hope Scooter sees this post. Might make post of the week!
I wonder how this whole QB rotation thing that Manvel does is going to work? I see they've been doing it all year and it's worked out fairly well. I just don't know about that approach in the playoffs. It's hard enough to get one guy into the game and into rhythm in the playoffs (and shake the nerves). PNG's had more than one game this year where it pretty much came down to who had the ball last. So say one guy has it rolling for Manvel (7 for example) and the other guy has an off night (8 for example). Do they change and go with the hot hand? I could see this game being a shootout and the game being lost by not scoring on 1 or 2 drives. I'm just not sold on the whole idea of a QB rotation from drive to drive. If one guy brings something different then the other guy then MAYBE I can see it (Tebow and Leak at Florida, Lee and Jeffersuck at LSU). Thoughts?
I've been thinking the same thing. While there have been some quarterback duos that achieve sucess, Im not a fan of it. The QB situation at LSU looks like a diaster waiting to happen. So far it is working and it must be working for Mavel too. What do I know? I guess that is why I have to put on Nomex and work the holidays and weekend! I look for this to be a good game. Manvel may not be the best team in 24-4A, but they are in the best district in the state. By the way... Two-dogs, you are kinda stretching it a bit. :)

Good post Tony! I got to see these kids play last year. They are a good group of kids and deserving at this shot to go to Disney to the Super Bowl! I do hope that the kind and generous folks on this board read your post and respond generously. I'm in for $100 and challenge all the SETexas sports fans to help too. Good luck this weekend in San Antonio!
Laugh all you want at my lack of grammar and yes I did leave out the part about direct taunting toward our side line on purpose. Just my opinion but I do not ever think you should make gestures toward the other sideline. Do what ever you want toward your team and fans to fire them up, there is never a reason to taunt the other team. Part of trying to show these young men how to grow as a person and not only as an athelete is about teaching them respect for others. I guess I just come from a generation who prefered to let my play on the field do the talking. One time I saw an interview with the great Barry Sanders and he was asked why he did not spike the ball after a touch down and he said because he was taught to act like he had been there before and like he would be back again. To each his own. Good luck to all, go PNG! Kville_kats, I have supported your team for many years and sat on your sideline when ya'll played BC. Most all the people I was around were very classy and thank me for being there in my Purple and White supporting your team. Hopefully your one of those type of people.
I was just picking ndn78, but to be honest, I agree with you. The pre-kickoff gyrations bother me as much as the midfield gestures. While we are bitchin, I'm gonna throw out another that will probably be unpopular too. The Indian defense guys trying to get the crowd pumped up rubs me wrong. I'll be the first to admit that I'm old school, but my coaches would say that if you wanna be a cheerleader, put on a skirt and get off the field. If you want to pump up the crowd, sack the ball carrier in his own backfield. That will get the crowd up a whole lot more than giving up an 8 yard carry, then flapping you arms to get the crowd hollering. Like you said, to each his own. Go Indians!

PN-G vs. Willis Game Thread/PN-G Wins/Comments
shovel replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I hate to see all this nit-picking about dirty play. We've seen dirtier play in our own district this year. I believe the difference was that the refs let the boys play ball last night. They didn't throw flags unless it was flagrant. One of the better called games we played this year. Willis has a talented and well coached team. These boys were a lot smaller than the Barbers Hill team we faced last week. They didnt hit as hard, but they brought it every play. The Indians played hard and got the win. Lets move on. -
It is a good thread. I think that football season has ended for most of the haters that post their drivel on this board. Another welcome to South Paugh and thanks for the good posts. "Da Butch" is a very nice stadium with good food. If the turkey legs dont fill you up, try the smoked boudin. Looking forward to a good game Saturday. Gonna be nice with all that purple out there!

This thread is one of the most entertaining reads on the board. I was kinda wondering about the tu-tu wearing mascot? It is also kind of disturbing that I agree with bh89-2! The Eagles were a much tougher team this year than I'm used to seeing. They will be a playoff contender for the next couple of years. Looking forward to seeing y'all again next year.
Good game maddog and best of luck. There is a difference in intensity and being a dumbass.......#33 crossed that line several times. #77 was intense but controlled himself very well. Maddog.....very good luck to you in your future endeavors.
Remember that these are kids playing a game. Coach BF does not condone any unsportsmanlike conduct; penalized or not. It is his job to teach these boys how to play the game an I am fully confident he will do so. It is easy to see that maddog is maturing maybe ahead of some of his peers. The simple principle of right and wrong is crystal clear to maddog and I understand where he is coming from. I will chime in with others and say good game and good luck to you in your future. Thanks for the good post.

I'm a Nederland fan every week but one. ;D Nederland has sure had some hard luck these last couple of years. As indnfan pointed out, without those critical injuries, I'm sure things would be much different. Honestly, I look for the bad luck streak to end and for Nederland to come out the gate strong. It is somewhat amazing what those kids have accomplished with the setbacks they have faced. I see a tough district contender next year.

Next year Nederland prediction: Two quaterbacks, a RB and half the defense injured before the first game. 3rd string quarterack gets hurt in the week zero blowout at WO-S. Neuman brings up a junior high quarterback from C.O. Wilson that sets passing records and is lauded until they lose again at Mid-County Madness. Nederland goes on a winning tear and makes the playoffs. Finally beats whoever-they-play from 19-4A. Just picking! Nederland, as always, will be a force in 20-4A and will be a playoff contender.

Congrats to the Longhorns! Good job players and coaches. Wishing y'all the best of luck in McAllen.

Congrads to the Indians for pouring gasoline and dropping a match on the Ant Mound. Now, I told you I will be hard on the Indians. I heard you left some TD's on the field. Got to get that corrected. These playoff opponents will get harder and harder. Time to get to the next level. (I know you can do it). Yes, this Central fan is calling you out. Keep this head of steam and grab another win next week!
BH left TD's on the field and one in a refs pocket. PNG did try to run the clock down, and rightfully so, but they got stopped running the ball. BH made more mistakes than did PNG so we lost. PNG always plays smart and that was the difference. Great game by both teams. Hopefully we will have a pre-district game again next year. Great Indian fan turnout tonight and we'll be rooting you on from here till the bitter end. I think had I talked more trash we may have won, so I'll start early next year. ;D
For bh89-2 to talk more trash, it would have to be a full-time job! Good game by both teams, and yes, both teams made mistakes that left touchdowns off the scoreboard. I wont fuss about the refs. Compared to the Ozen game, the game was called beautifully! The Indians played hard and are gonna have to kick it up a notch if they wanna play after next weekend. Still too many bad penalties. Defense looked really good, considering how far they have come in the last 6 weeks. I hope that Browning is OK. One more thing: The band rocked the halftime show. Very nice tribute to Tip. Looking forward to next weeks game.
