Tyrone, it looks like we will get to see who is more real... The Real Bowl... Barbers Hill ("The Hill is for real") vs PNG ("The Rez is for real") Ya, I know, wrong thread but I knew I could find Tyrone on this one...
Tyrone, look what you have started. They believe it now! The Hill is NOT for real! "DA BUTCH" is for real! -
Crosby Nederland Predictions??? 7PM Fri. At Crosby
shovel replied to nbulldogs2004's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Merka is a fine QB, but he needs some more help. He cant do it by himself. After seeing both teams, Nederland should win, but they are playing in Crosby's yard. Could go either way. -
Y'all dont get too hard on bh89-2. If it werent for his posts, this thread would only be a couple of pages. Besides, he knows that the Hill is NOT for real. He also know that "DA BUTCH!" IS for real!

Nice post Absent! I agree with Two-Dogs post. I would love to see y'all dismantle Galena Park, but we'll kinda be busy at the Butch at that time. Good luck to the Jags on a strong run through the playoffs.
Ugghhhh....just got done watching the PNG Livingston game for an idea of what Livingston's got...same old same old Livingston...good news is PNG had NUMEROUS players around the ball....bad news is I didn't see any of them tackling anything. BH is a bit bigger up front than Livingston but not nearly as fast. PNG tackles like that and it'll be a long night.
rollin, That game was the low point for the PNG program. We made NO defensive stops the entire game and still only lost by a score. MANY defensive adjustments were made after that game and we look like a totally different team now. The Central game showed much improvement in the D-side of the ball. That being said, Dayton should have no trouble beating Livingston if they hang onto the ball. I'm still hoping that PNG gets to play Dayton down the road. and to the crack smoking baby: You will have a very good understanding of what a "Gizzi" is Saturday night! ;D

I saw this team play last year in STJFL, but havent got to see them this year. I did get a turkey leg and a T-shirt though! I will wear the lucky t-shirt on Saturday. Good luck in Austin, and y'all keep us posted on the board!
No crow eating jag. Go out and prove the haters wrong during the playoffs. The Indians fans will be there supporting you guys!!!!
That is absolutely correct. Anybody who know anything about HS football could see that was not your best effort Friday night. Central is the 20-4A district champions. I'm betting that your next game will showcase why you are champions. Y'all tear 'em up in the playoffs.

Bubba Bean is a legend in SE Texas. I remember hearing about him as a kid. I never saw him play for Kirbyville, but remember listening to A & M games on the radio. A & M ran the wishbone offense then, or "A Bone with a Bean" as the announcers called it. Congratulations to Lefredrick Ford. I feel like he will be a legend in these parts too someday.

Dayton vs. Livingston predictions

Dayton will win, but Livingston will give them more game than anyone in 19-4A gave them. -

Crosby Nederland Predictions??? 7PM Fri. At Crosby

Nederland, No doubt! -
How does Coach Nuemann do this every year? Maybe the guys are coachable, come on, who gave Nederland a shot after 1-4?
I'll be honest and say that I didn't. I saw their first game against WOS and wondered if they could win a game. They got their starting QB and running back in time for MCM and beat a struggling PNG team. They have rolled ever since. Here is my thoughts on the rest of 20-4A (through purple-colored glasses!): ;D First of all, I want to congratulate the PNG Indians and coaches for taking the 20-4a district champs to the woodshed last night! What a game. The Indians were firing on all cylinders and couldn't be stopped. We did not see Central's best game last night, but it really didn't matter. The boys were hungry for a win and wouldn't be denied. What a way to enter the post-season play. Way to go guys! Continue to get better each week and lets see how far we can go. I know that Central had nothing but pride riding on the last game of the season, but I really expected better of them last night. A crushing defeat is not the way that I would want to enter the playoffs. Livingston has a very one-dimensional offense, but they run it very well. After giving us all we could handle, I am glad to see them make the playoffs. I am dissapointed that LCM missed the post-season this year. They started the year with a bang, winning their first 5 games. They won 7 of 10, but lost to Central, PNG and Nederland, barely missing the playoffs. I am really baffled by Ozen. They have got to be the best 2-8 team in the State! This really was a fun and exciting season. We had excellent weather every Friday night this year and every week, we got our moneys worth. Looking forward to some good things in the playoffs. Good luck to our Indians and our 20-4A brothers each week in the post-season.

A Special Thanks to Vidor from PNG
shovel replied to HonorPrideTradition's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I gotta chime and and say thanks too. I think it is awesome the way Vidor and all our community have honored Reggie Garret, Coach Barbay and Tip Durham. That says a lot about the folks in Southeast Texas. -

Kerry has been taking some heat on the WOS threads, so we will welcome him at the Reservation. Put on your purple shirt Kerry and draw some heat here too! ;D ;D

For arguments sake, lets say we dodge Dayton and Brenham but being D-1 get to play teams that have already been beaten by Dayton and Brenham. We all get to the State finals. PNG wins D-1 and Brenham or Dayton wins D-2. This is not my prediction, this is just for the sake of argument, OK? EVERYBODY will know we took the low road and didnt play the best. This is not our fault, but the scenario created by bringing 4 teams from the district to the playoffs. I've voiced my opinion on that in this and other threads. I'm just old school and think there should be ONE winner and not everbody that gets to play gets a trophy. Back to reality: I have enjoyed seeing PNG get a little better on the D side of the ball each week since the loss to Nederland. They are gonna have to kick it up up several notches to compete on the next level whomever we play. Good luck to the Indians and to all the playoff teams from Southeast Texas.
I don't discount anybody for any path. You can't help what division they place you in. Besides that, D1 has some good teams too. (Montgomery, Friendswood, Humble & Central)
I'm not saying that at all. Other posters wanted to avoid playing Dayton and Brenham. I dont. If they are the best, then thats who I would want to play.

Green is a lot like Merka at Crosby. If either QB had more help, their numbers would really inflate. Plus, Green is a Soph and we should see good things from him in the next couple of years. It is very hard to argue against Doty, Gonzales or Heard, and you can almost make a case for any other QB in 20-4A. Since this is not a scientific poll, and I'm a homer, I'll go with Doty! ;D
-
If PNG doesnt beat Central, and we go as a 3rd or 4th seed in this district, I hope we DO play Dayton. I have a problem with 4 teams from each district going to the playoffs, but that is another thread. If the 4th seed in 20-4A or in 19-4A could beat Dayton or Central, well they have done something! Besides, Dayton vs PNG would shore look purty with all that purple out there! ;D
I dont like it, but I have to agree. Dayton, Brenham and Friendswood are perennial powerhouses. While 20-4A always has a good team or two, they dont have programs that match these.
I think PN-G have a mutual respect for us no matter what happens. I don't think they'll give us much lip if we do decide to rest players. At the same time, if we do go all out and they do beat us, I don't think they will be on here acting a darn fool or anything.
Absolutely correct Soulja. Central has dominated the district, while PNG has suffered two losses. Not much room for trash talk here! Resting starters or not. Central will give PNG a good ball game and vice versa. Hopefully both teams will go deep into the playoffs. Most importantly, lets have a good game, NO penalties, and certainly NO INJURIES!

Classy move by Faircloth to have Doty take a knee at the end. As anyone who went to the game saw, Pirates definitely had their chances, but turnovers still plague this team. The strip fumble inside the PNG 20 and the gift fumble inside the Vidor 5 come to mind. No excuses though, turnovers, (and penalties) are part of the game. Good luck against Central next week.
i take i that you didnt see the horse collar that caused him to fumble
Please really? before any of you PNG people start jumping on this guy let me. That was a legit fumble. The kid that tackle him grabbed him with one hand and knocked the ball out with the other. How the heck is that a horse collar. A horse collar is if you are brought down by the back of the shoulder pads. Thats not what happened. This game was one of the most undisciplined game I have ever seen Vidor play. How many stupid personal foul penilties did we get anyway. Could we have won yes. Playing like we did tonight NO!!!! The only excuss we can use is we killed ourselves.
Way too many personal foul penalties for both teams. Neither Faircloth or Matthews put up with that. Undisciplined is right!
