Hey watch it, you're getting close to crossing the line. I have a few kids that show what you get when you cross a bulldog with an Indian.
Just being a smartass. Central vs Livingston Prediction thread
shovel replied to D3zii's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I would really like to see this game. I'm pulling for Central, but would bet on Livingston. I think the Lions will win this in a close one. -

I was very close to the bench at Vidor along with several parents and their reactions were not very favorable for the coaching staff. I watched as both offense and defense came off the field several times feeling defeated and not one coach went to the bench to try and lift these young mens spirits or give them any encouragement. Just my opinion but a game has 4 quarters not 3 1/2 or 3 3/4 quarters. These young men play until the final second ticks off the clock. I hate to see the stands starting to empty before the game is over and all the negative comments being made. How do you think the players feel to turn around and see their supposed fans leaving the game early because they are being defeated. Staying another few minutes and supporting their team regardless of winning or loosing is what a fan is suppose to do. I have seen the play of the year happen for a player in the final minute of the game. Another thing we all applaud and support the half time show and all the kids involved but when half time is over most of "their" fans leave cause their shirts say it's all about the half time. This is just my opinion but, stick around its more fun than going to get something to eat. :D
I agree to a point, I would say most of the fans that were leaving early were the over 50 crowd and had to get to Luby's before they closed !
Hold on a minute young buck. I'm in the 50+ crowd. Lubys closes at 8:30. Some of us old farts have a bedtime or have to take meds or some other lame excuse. Win or lose, I'm gonna be there until the band finishes their last Cherokee. Back to topic, the Indians get back on the winning track with a huge win.

No doubt the Bears are a good team, but they have not gotten to the meat of their schedule yet. Salad days are over, we will see how good the Bears are in the coming weeks.
Great game, Lions. Just got a rundown of the game from a friend. Looks like yall found a replacement for Jackson and Keke Johnson. You've gotten this Jag fan's attention...
Soulja, #24 (Mays?) and #10 (White) are a LOT better runners than Jackson or Johnson. Plus, their O-line blew BIG holes for them to run through. Best running game I have seen in a long while. Better gear up the Jags to stop the run or it will be a looong nite! I dont believe our defense had a single stop all night! Good luck to the Jags and Lions. One of y'all ought to take the district title. -
I'm taking the opposite approach. PNG will win it, but then again I've been wrong 3 weeks out of 4! The game is in Nederland and this is Mid-County Madness, so as willforever says... all bets are off. My Indians have all three of their losses by a score with just seconds on the clock. I'm hoping they take it out on some Bulldogs. Lets hope both teams play hard and stay healthy.
PNG has no excuses, Livingston lined up and ran up the middle, around the end, and any other way that you could run the ball. We stacked everyone on the line of scrimmage and was trying to tackle the wrong man all night. These boy's need to learn how to tackle low. They were hitting their back's up high and they were finding way's out of tackle's. We would have them for a loss and they would spring loose. They may need to suit up and start practicing in full pad's and learn how to tackle. The coaches can't make the tackle's for them. They were in the right places, but could not make the play. Honestly, we have been exposed through the air and tonite we were exposed on the ground. We have had very poor play out of our LB's all season. They are undersized and are not very physical. It's like our defense is built to stop the pass but we can't even do that. Other team's in the district may stack up better against Livingston's offense, but our defense was no match for them. Our offense is really good but it look's like we will be in a lot of shootout's.
I also agree, but you cant take anything away from the Livingston offense. They blew big holes in the line and broke lotsa tackles. Best running game I've seen in a long time. Coop is right. They will make the playoffs, maybe as dist champs! Lotta football left to play though. Great game tonight and good win for the Lions. Indians better get ready for Mid-county Madness! -
I'm having a hard time eating this crow....Good game Lions. Tonight I saw the best ground game I've seen in years. Maybe the best I've seen in 20-4A? The Lion running backs are slippery BEASTS! Hard to bring down. They were running through holes big enough to drive the bus home through! The Lions are gonna make a mess of this district. Hard fought game and a good win for Livingston. Back to eating my crow....
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! The Lions will have to do a good job of containing Steve Doty he is a decent QB!!!! The disrespect showed to the Livingston Lions on this board never ceases to amaze me you guys can't even refer to Lion players by their correct name of identify the college they attend. Wait I guess you guys got Dustin Harris mixed up with all the former injuns playin the Big 12. The Livingston Lions will pound the football right down them injun throats and win 31-21 mark it down.
Here is a prediction. PNG easily defeats the Lions and Lionfan disappears. Mark it down.

whats gonna be the game to watch this friday????
shovel replied to evadalerebel4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I'm GONNA be a the rez watching PNG take care of Livingston, BUT... I'd like to se the Ozen-Central game. Both these teams may be the real deal. AND, I'd like to see the LCM-Lumberton game. AND, I'd like to see Vidor-Nederland. Both these teams have too good of coaches to stay down, AND I'd also like to see Hardin play Kountze or Dayton vs Barbers Hill! My heart will be with friends at Hooks stadium for Reggie's memorial. SE Texas is a good place to be on Friday night. Y'all be careful -

20-4A after 4 district games who ya got?
shovel replied to adminbaberuth's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
ozen will be in the playoffs this year!!!!! westbrook and memorial are two of the best teams in setx....not to mention they are 5a. sayiing this to make the point that the panthers are battle tested. Each week ive noticed improvements and that has been done without many key players. DE terell collins(i believe he was first team all district) rb/sfty Leroy jackson(new comer of the year) sfty malamo watkins....center keyone martin(broken hand) and a couple of their big linemen are banged up.Thank God for the bye week......but by district this team this team will be the real deal.....Turkey legs, sprite and a panthers win makes a trip to the butch worth wild!
Man I hope you are right. Several years, ozen has had the athletes to make a playoff caliber team, but for what ever reason, have fallen short. In the past, they turned the ball over at the worst times. I'm looking forward to the Ozen game: The new stadium, turkey legs and popcorn balls. Ozen does have the best halftime food in the district! -
As for those that keep wanting to point at the lose of Harmon as an issue or that Bertrand is an issue take a look at the numbers for each after three games this year and last. Yr Carries Yards YPC TD 2009 Harmon 60 361 6.01 4 2010 Bertrand 72 391 5.43 3 Were you giving up on Harmon at this point last year or singing his praises, cause the numbers are pretty comprable?
Good info badndn. I'm a big fan of Harmon and now, Bertrand. Two good guys, with a little different running styles. As a guy in the bleachers, here is my take. Last year, Harmon ran harder, in the sense that his feet never quit until the whistle blew. Bertrand does not run like he is pumping quite as hard, but has a better, more experienced line blowing holes open for him. I don't miss Harmon like I miss Dre Dunbar. There are bigger questions in our defensive secondary than there are in our offensive backfield. I do have faith that our coaches will have solutions and will have the boys ready for district play. Go Indians! -
Texas City is predicted in most publications to finish near the bottom of their district. ;)
They are playing in a district with Pearland, Friendswood, Lamarque and Manvel. I wouldn't pick them in the top of that district either! Nevertheless, they start district 3-0. I wish 'em luck! ;) -
Well the ref that was on the TC sideline was the one who threw 75% of the flags. One was even late and called a holding. The one in the endzone, the TC receiver was out of the endzone. The other one the ball was way uncatchable as well. He was also the first ref to try and call a safety on us when the back was down on the 1. So I think there was some lopsided officiating from that 1 ref. PNG. Lots of work on the secondary. Don't understand the soft seceondary coverage. Its been eating us alive in all 3 games. Our running game. Its ok but not like last years. Maybe rotate the backs, the running back on the JV is explosive and makes moves that loose you. I think he is a junior as well. The O line did well in pass blocking. They opened up some big holes for Bertram. Our passing game was decent. But we had alot of receivers wide open they could have thrown too several times. Last night the NDN's were their own worse enemy. To many mistakes and not executing. The one ref was terrible. As far as stunts and blitz', Faircloth is not going to show is cards during these 3 games. I know come district you will see alot of various D formations etc. 2 weeks till we open district play. Lots to work on and adjust. We will see were we really stand come 2 weeks. This is a good time to heal up some of our boys. TC is a balanced team on the offensive side of the ball. Can't say they are a great team but they are a good team and should compete very well intheir district. Congrats TC on your win last night.
Very well said pngfan66. The refs weren't good, but that is not what cost us the ballgame. For the most part, the Indians executed poorly. I think that is the flattest I have seen them since Faircloth took over. The next two weeks will make a difference. The TC team was a balanced team. They have their shortcomings, but I will go out on a limb and say that they are a better team than any we will face in 20-4A! I do like that the board gurus are moving us down the list to win district. :) The O-line did play very well and I loved Lunceford running down the ballcarrier on the interception. That was the Indian highlight of the night! DJ Schexnieder's play is picking up too! Defensive adjustments will be made. The Indians will be allright when district play starts in two weeks. Scalp 'em! -

Merka needs more help to win. He cant do it by himself. Bad snaps and untimley penalties killed any momentum that Crosby tried to get going last night. That is not to take anything away from the Indian defense. They looked much better this week. Good luck to the Cougars. I hope y'all rebound and dominate 19-4A. I look for the Indians to get better and show us more in Texas City. Scalp 'em!
Cougs won't dominate 19-4A this year...
