Hey Rusted, No apology is necessary. I could FEEL your frustration in your posts. Vidor has a first class program with gifted and talented athletes. With this kind of talent & experience, much is expected. Very gentlemanly of you to write this post. Good luck to the Pirates for the rest of the season and hopefully, postseason!

I like this thread. There are 3 weeks of very good district football left. I like (and wont argue) with your picks, but I will say this. District 20-4A is loaded. Anything can happen on a Friday night. I'm impressed that LCM could come back from being down 35-7 in the 3rd quarted and beat Livingston 49-41! I'm impressed that Ozen took a good one from Lumberton. The next 3 weeks will be as interesting and fun as the first 7! One more thing I GOTTA say. The Vidor fans on this board finally saw what I've been seeing all season. The Indians made believers out of them. I do hope the Indians and Jags get to play for the district championship. It would be an awsome climax to a wonderful regular season. There are just some hungry teams left that will try to keep it from hapening. We'll see

Pirates Hope to 'Steal' One at PN-G
shovel replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Good article Gabe! (as usual!) I was curious how A PNG guy that covers Orange county would write this game up. Keep up the good work! -
Not me! I was at Ozen eating a turkey leg and a popcorn ball. Best football food in 20-4A. I wish we had that kinda food at our concession stand!

Like or Dislike 4 Teams in the Playoffs???
shovel replied to warpaint101's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Normally, I dislike 4 teams to the playoffs. This year with 20-4A as strong across the board, I kinda like it. As it is, a good team might be staying home. In a normal season, one or two not-so-good teams might be going. -
Good post Pirates. I especially like the part of bringing back Hunsicker and Garner. It won't happen though. McLane and Wade aren't baseball men like Hunsicker and Garner. I expect them to make piddling deals that wont bear fruit. I hate to be so pessimistic about the 'stros, but as I've said before, I've been a fan a long time. I've been disappointed WAY too many times. For the 'stros to become contenders, McLane would have to hire a GM that knows the game and then keep his hands out of it. I'm afraid that neither will happen. So we get more of the same...

*PN-G vs. Livingston/PNG wins 30-7
shovel replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
OOOOHHH YEAH! In the first quarter, she was hollering for her Lions to not touch the punt. Due to the weather, our band didn't get into the stands until way after the game started. When the band started playing, it drowned her out. After the half, PNG dominated, so it shut her and their train horn up. I'd much rather hear Cherokee that hear her coaching! I like to hear, and expect to hear Homer announcers. This gal takes the cake! I couldn't take much of that at all!! That being said, the Livingston folks were very friendly and hospitable. I understand there were some terrible rumors going around town that we would trash the place. I assured them that we were well behaved and thanked them for having us. The visitor stands are small, but you are right on the field and could see and hear every hit. Their concession stand food is better than ours. Except for the rain, it was a great night. -
If PNG can eliminate the stupid penalties, it wont even be close. If PNG can play like they did in the last half in Livingston, it wont even be close. The Indians are getting better every week. No way Vidor can win this one at the Rez. PNG 35 - Vidor 14.
-
C'mon guys, cut Lionfan some slack. The Livingston folks were very hospitable to us. The Indians played an AWESOME game tonight! Take away a facemask penalty and it very well could have been 30 -0. Great job by the purple gang! Livingston does have a good team and a couple of super players. #21 Quentin Jackson? is a hoss! Y'all take it easy on Lionfan tonight!

I hate that we lose another good man. My prayers are with the family.

Good post and an honest analysis. Good luck to the Dogs for the rest of the season. I'm pullin' for y'all to make some upsets!

Well, I'm one guy that thought Livingston will be tough! I'm pleased with most of the 20-4A teams. I also believe that Coach Faircloth will have the boys ready. IF they can eliminate the sensless penalties and mistakes, PNG will take this one in a tight ballgame. We will not be able to get away with the mistakes like the ones made vs. Nederland. I'm looking forward to this game, just not the long drive.

Scales powering Lady Bobcat net squad
shovel replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
What makes my job so easy is knowing Aimee the way I do. We talk in the stands at football games, she's not afraid to say hello and just mingle for a few minutes. I have grown to enjoy that and have always made it a point to be a reporter who does more than just write stories. It helps in these situations and also allows me to get to know the players more than most reporters try to. I have the best job on the planet. It shows! Keep up the good work! -

Good article Gabe! Having such good people to write about makes your job easier doesn't it? -
OK are you telling me this is the best PNG team you have seen in the last 10 years? I agree you are much improved from last year, but how good do you think you really are. Are you predicting a district championship? Oh by the way the rankings change like the wind! ;D I'm not gonna say this is the best PNG team in the last 10 years, but I will say the PNG defense is very good. The defensive secondary is probably the best I've seen in 10 years. Remember that the Indians are learning a new system from new coaches. They ARE getting better every week. They have not yet hit on all cylinders, but I DO like what I see. We only have 2 district games under out belt, with a lot of tough games ahead. I don't think the Indians will go through district without a loss, but I wouldn't bet against them. I will predict the Indians in the playoffs. As far as a district championship, that would be a stretch. 20-4A is WAY too tough to make a bold prediction like that.
-
IF Nederland could eliminate the fumbles and ints, they could take the Bears. I'm afraid they wont, so I'll take the Bears 28- Dogs 17.
-
Alright, i'll bite- Yes it is relevant. LCM has a much better team than weve seen in years. They still have some weaknesses. (Like stopping the run) PNG exposed those weaknesses. Central will exploit them. Central has speed and explosiveness that LCM cannot handle. Don't get me wrong. I'm pulling for the Bears, but I wouldn't bet on them.
-
Comparing opponents by the transitive property is foolish. If this were the case, wouldn't Vidor have been the undefeated district champs last year since they were the only ones to beat Lumberton? You are talking last year. I'm talking about last week. Wee bit of difference.
-
LCM couldnt beat PNG. They will not be able to handle Central either. Central by 2 TDs +

I didn't know the rules changed during MCM week!

shovel replied to Puma42's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Hey Puma, How many games have you watched at the Reservation this year? I hope you will be there Friday night to see what we are so excited about. We have only played the teams that were scheduled, just like everybody else. I do wish your dogs weren't injured. It would make for a better game.
