Drayton McLane is a good owner compared to John McMullen, but that is as far as I'll go. I used to go see the 'stros 5-6 times a year when they were at the 'dome. When they moved into the new stadium he JACKED up all prices and SLASHED payroll. I've been a little pissed since. Every now and then, he'll want to win and turn loose a few bucks, usually to no avail. Then he reigns in payroll. They try to pick players out of the junk pile and usually do good (Pudge, Randy Wolf, etc.) but when the players pan out and deserve more money, they dont re-sign them(see R. Wolf). I'm a long suffering Astros fan but I'm more likely to watch from the recliner these days. The only foul I ever caught bounced off a womans head. I had to give her the ball. That game wasn't even televised.

From what I saw at the spring game, PNG tackled better in that game than I've seen in years! I am confident that this will be PNGs first football win at the newly revised Reservation.

Y'all are absolutely right. I turned on the tube and watched him play the last 9 holes yesterday. You KNEW by his intensity he would win. Tiger can ramp it up into a gear no one else has. There was NO DOUBT he would take the win yesterday. An amazing performace by a first class golfer and getleman.

LCM remains one of the better baseball programs in this area. Coach Griff gets more of his players a shot at college ball than anyone else around here. Congrats to these players and to Coach Griffith.

One thing I saw that has not be mentioned is that the Indians did much better open field tackling. They were terrible at this last year and I already see an improvement. The centers need work snapping to a QB in the backfield, but this will improve with practice. A WHOLE lot more positives than negatives. I am really looking forward to the season.

Skipper, I agree. WOS vs LCM. I can't wait for Mid-County madness at the Reservation this year. I wouldn't mind seeing PNG scrap with WOS to open the season though.

I have to disagree on WOS and Newton as being top HS football jobs. WOS is getting smaller every year. How could anyone step in and fill the shoes of Hooks and Thompson? Dont get me wrong: I believe that WOS will be a powerhouse as long as those two gentlemen are at the reins. I don't think that anybody else could walk in and ever have the same sucess as they have. Plus, look at the disharmony on the school board. That school district has its problems. The same can be said for Barbay. A small school district used to being champions.Very hard shoes to fill. Heres my list of plum jobs: Westbrook - Premier area 5-A School. PNG - Best Fans, Tradition & Facilities in the area. Nederland - Very Good facilities & rabid fanbase. Dayton - Excellent facilities & lots of talent. LCM - Good facilities & program can only get better.

Gonna disagree with y'all on Homeland Security being one of Bush's better moves. All this did was lump several Gov. agencies into one and POURED tax dollars into this new stew pot. While some of this money appears to be well spent, (i.e. the Coast Guard being better equipped) you only have to look at FEMA to find the financial messes and gross mismanagement (under Bush!). The Border Patrol and Immigration services have not improved either. The DHS is another "big brother" organization that is eroding the liberties of all American. Not all bad, but certainly not all good. I don't see it as a good marker for GWB to hang his legacy on.

Just checked out the KOGT info. With Coach Griffiths 400 victories, this is also his 50th playoff victory! That is awesome. Congrats to coach Griffith and the LCM program. Good luck in the playoffs coach!

When a pulling guard waylays a linebacker to open a hole for a tailback to run 25 yards up the middle of the field, he goes back to the huddle with a grin. The tailback does the chicken dance. When a DL splits the line and sacks a tailback right after the hand-off, he goes back to the huddle with a grin and everybody in the stands does the chicken dance. Most folk don't really see when the OL executes flawlessly, they just see the results. The down lineman don't get the glory, but their value is noted. Didn't an OL just go as the 6th pick in the NFL draft? I can't remember his name, but I remember he is a badass from Alabama. Here I go again sounding like John Madden.

I stopped by the pep rally after work today. There were a LOT more people there than I expected. Afterward there was a powder puff football game. It looked a lot like Nederland vs Lumberton, but better! ;D..... Just picking y'all. Maybe somebody will post some pics. I'll be glad when the baseball and softball games resume.

Not quite correct. Linemen get graded/reviewed on every play. Ask any offensive lineman what happens when he misses a block! Most do take pride in their job and stats.
