For the life of me, I don't know what the problem is with penalties and mistakes. This is a very experienced team. These kids have been running this offense for years now. I always thought penalties were caused by a lack of concentration, being beat by your direct opponent and/or lack of attention. Mistakes came from inexperienced players. None of this should be effecting this team. These kids have superior talent, and should hold their own with most players they are up against. Make no mistake. If this continues it will jump up and bite them in the butt sooner or later. Thank you Captain Obvious.

Yeah, I think that was on a two point conversion and it didn't matter. It looked to me like the runner just didn't accept the ball well. Maybe Nate got blamed for the fumble, because he recovered it.

I don't know anything about New Diana, A team that finishes fourth in any district will not have much of a chance against a District winner. I know there is always an exception, but this ain't it. If Newton plays like they are capable, they won't have any competition until regionals.

It looks like Nate is getting his passing game together which means Newton will be much harder to beat going forward. The running game has always been there, as has the strong defense. I don't do score predictions since it is so arbitrary anyway, but Newton will win this game going away, and start preparing for their next opponent. By the way, I just finished the book between the white lines by Dave Burchett. I highly recommend it. It's about a tough man and a great coach - W.T. Johnston. You can probably pick up a copy from the Newton County Historical Commission 213 E Court st. Newton Texas 75966. Part of the profits go to the W.T. Johnston Scholarship Fund in Newton Texas. After reading it I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride at spending eleven years in that community, and a close friendship with Coach Barbay. I still have some dear friends there. This should be an exciting game. It looks like Hemphill figured out after the Newton game, that they had a football team. I leaned toward Corrigan, but after they got rolled over by Newton, I'm not so sure. If Hemphill plays Corrigan as tough as they did Newton, they will win easily. All told, I think Hemphill will be Daingerfields opponent in the first round of the playoffs, although I haven't figured any of the points spread. Too deep for me.

LOL, same thought I had. I lived in Newton for eleven years and don't ever remember Kountze having a great football team while I was there.
