Medicare, Medicaid, and social security “promote the general welfare” as stated in the Preamble and in Section 8. Section 8, as respects infrastructure, states that a postal service and post roads are to be established. Does that make the Interstate Highway system unconstitutional? It ain’t in the document.

Did you read my opening post? I knew two weeks before that the polls were missing the break to Trump. This time I feel it’s going the other way.

Rasmussen consistently skews Republican. Every presidential cycle I’ve seen. So, I have my doubts about his comments. I’ll either look like a fool or a savant. We’ll see come Tuesday.

The Selzer Poll (a gold standard poll) shows Harris up 47-44 in Iowa. Mark my words…

RFK Jr to Trump: Ban Big Pharma From “Advertising” on Television!
UT alum replied to Reagan's topic in Political Forum
I’ve never agreed with advertising prescription medicine on TV. If you think Big Pharma will let RFK Jr. get in their way, you need to wake up. They keep Republicans (and some democrats) from making them compete, whether it’s to have to negotiate with Medicare or let us choose to get our meds from Canada. What concerns me is not some nefarious media plot to keep us uninformed. It’s the fact that by spending more for advertising (by 37%) than R&D, they are stifling efforts to find better products. They don’t need to if there’s no competition. It’s the Republican Party that consistently blocks Medicare negotiaions. As an aside, what if supplements were regulated? FOX News would go out of business. -
I’ve been paying attention to presidential elections since 1968 and I’ve followed and voted in every one since 1972. There have been 3 breaks I can think of and I watched them happen and could almost feel them happening. The first one was Jimmy Carter in 1979. About ten days out he was ahead, but I could tell from the reporting and just people around here I talked to it always breaking fast towards Reagan. The second time was 1987. Micheal Dukakis folded like a cheap suit. It was like watching a slow motion train wreck. The third one was in 2011. Comey announced a reopening of Hillary’s laptop, which was the final straw, but I could tell a little before then that it was breaking fast towards Trump. Her campaign was poorly run.I think the 4th one is happening. Polls, campaigns, overall uptick in enthusiasm for Harris and Democratic voters while Trump keeps up with bizarre speeches and low energy rallies. I been saying over and over a national campaign cannot outsourced. That’s the main responsibility of the national party for its nominees. It was a big mistake to put Musk in charge in Pennsylvania. An effective ground game cannot be bought. It has to be built. Trump’s 12 years of chaos within the party has allowed the Republicans ground game to atrophy. I can feel the shift just like I felt the other three. I’m predicting an upset in Florida, Iowa, or Ohio. The house will probably wind up with a 25 seat Democratic majority, and I think the Democrats will also pick up a couple iof seats in the Senate.Donald Trump is going to lose bigly. If I’m wrong, I won’t hide. I’ll take whatever darts and ribs come my way. If I’m right, I’ll be doing some crowing.

I’m telling you, it’s going to be a too big to rig victory for Harris/Walz. The rallies of his I watch are so low energy they almost need life support. Their ground machine is running on the rims while the Democratic machine is as organized as it’s ever been. It was reported that one day recently Pennsylvania volunteer workers all over the state were knocking on 2000 doors a second. That’s an energized turnout machine. All the crazy he’s done the past week dont really filter into the current prediction polls. It’ll have just the right amount to filter in for the poll that counts. The election poll. Trump is toast. Or he’ll maybe be making toast somewhere behind a razor wire topped fence.

I also have to add that the largest, the most complex economy and society in the world can’t run on bad data. Everything from economy to health, transportation and public works. The market hates uncertainty and if the data were bad, the uncertainty would be uncontrollable. Information has to be as accurate as possible to manage the system, both public and private.

That’s a cheap shot , Dog.

Prices haven’t doubled. For that to happen in four years inflation would have to average 15.5% for the entire period. Never heard of the rule of 72?
-
I made a post on here somewhere almost two years ago, when inflation was bumping 10% that it would be back down a lot faster than it did in the 80’s because that was a result of the lag in productivity that happened in the 70’s and early eighties. A systemic problem with our economy. This time, it was global disruption from the pandemic that caused never before seen shortages of supply. Something known as a force majeure in legal language. It probably shows up in the exclusions section of your home insurance policy. Anyway, the fed had to raise rates to help hit the brakes, but the reason there was no recession is because when supply chains started returning to normal, the market responded and inflation is retuning to historic levels.. To blame Biden for this is no different than blaming Trump for it, which I don’t. It was a global pandemic that had not happened in a century. So, If a Democratic economic plan is able to continue we’ll see continued wage growth with low inflation and purchasing power will grow for the ones who got hit hardest. If Trump’s tariff plan gets a chance we’ll have high inflation and high unemployment. That’s something I don’t think has ever happened. Consumers will pay the tariff. That’s an instant pass through, not a creeping kind of thing. Hope I gave you some information to consider.

That suit concerns hand counting all ballots, even if machine tabulated. Reagan’s allegation was that Democrats are suing to stop drop box surveillance. Republicans are the ones suing to stop that. Hand counting machine tabulated ballots is just a ruse to gum up the works and stall for time. Democrats were right to sue over that.

So you think the government is releasing false data concerning jobs, wages, and inflation?
-
Yeah, but you’re in Texas. I think the blue wall states will be different.
-
I think Trump is going to underperform and Harris will overperform. It was already slowly turning, but this past week of gaffes will stifle Republican turnout, move all remaining fence sitters to Harris, or at least not Trump, and it will give the fuel needed to inflame an already ignited Harris/Walz campaign. Let’s compare theories Tuesday night.

Used to be postmarked no later than Election Day. Voter suppression marches on. The only thing is, they can make it harder, but they can’t stop it. Voters will follow whatever rules are in place to cast their vote, even if it might be a little more inconvenient. The Democratic Party is organized and will do a better job of educating voters than Lara Trump’s hot mess RNC. There are too many unintended consequences cropping up and Republican Party message failures due to Trump’s failure to discuss policy and persistent insulting of almost every voting bloc except his own 43%. Harris will end up north of 300 electoral votes.

I don’t support illegal voting of any kind. There has been no hostile takeover of the system. Election workers take their oaths seriously. I worked them here in Hardin County for 30 years. I know the system. Voter fraud is statistically insignificant. Ballots cannot be stuffed or discarded. They must all be accounted for, and that responsibility lies first at the precinct level and finalized by the County Clerk. That’s why 60 lawsuits alleging fraud were thrown out. Secretaries of State don’t want crooked elections because the buck stops with them. If anyone is a traitor it is Donald J. Trump. To do what he has done to weaken confidence in the election system is to do what Russia has been trying to do since the 50’s. He’s done a better job in 12 years than they have in 70. Aiding and abetting? You call me a traitor, I’m not going to call you a name back. I will tell you to chill.

Trump arrives to Green Bay in a garbage truck

His mind isn’t going. His behind is going to jail. His defeat will be too big to rig.
