WOS Sr. 27 kountze 0 I was at the field until right after halftime of the previous game. Had to leave before my son played because the heat got to me and I got sick to my stomach. Bless those kids -- all of em! and the coaches cause it was hotter then I can say.

With the season starting in a few days, I thought it would be nice to have one central place to post scores as they are known. If there is already a topic that takes care of this subject, let me know and I will delete this one. Please, after each game post the scores and highlights of your teams performance. Thanks and GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!! ;D

Practice hows it looking so far?

WOS Sr. scrimmaged last night and won against Orangefield. I'm told the team looks real good but can't say from personal experience just yet - have not seen them play or practice yet this year. Actually, I will be meeting the team for the first time this Saturday but I'm told we have some pretty big boys. Hope that means "winning team" also. -

no idea about WOS Senior ... I have not been able to make it to a practice yet due to health reasons. I'm trying to stay close to home until possibly next week. I know my little one comes home tired but other then that; can't say. -

queenb77630 replied to KDM 2's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Men! You can't explain anything to them. Okay, let me say it again : The team who scores the most points will win the superbowl. How hard is that to understand? It takes a woman to explain everything! :D :D -
I predict that the team who scores the most points wins! Seriously - too soon to tell; the season hasn't even started yet. I think after the first week the kids nerves will settle down and they will get down to some serious football. After that first week, probably after the second game, you may be able to tell who has it going on and who is still trying to get it going. Regardless, I'm sure it will be another fun season.

no idea how practice is going for my sons team; I Have not been out there yet this week. Too much going on with me and after work stuff to sit at the field right now. will let you know next week. I'm sure they are doing just as well as everyone else is. -
oh yeah, and what time?
-
whew hoo; time to sign up again for some football! Care to let us know how much it is this year? My little one (yeah right!) won't need a helmet (his Revolution fits from last year) so there will not be a need for that. Private message me if you don't want to say on the board.

boasting that they had the best hamburgers in town (or something like that). I have to say .... ummmmm .... yeah, you do. I look forward to the season each year not only to see the kids playing but to eat those dog gone burgers and fries (even though they have not had them the past few games). Sometimes the burgers and/or fries are a little salty but nothing a cold soda can't wash away! ;D If you drive by and there are games going on .. stop by and get yourself one. $3 can buy you one delish burger.

Iwould like to say that in another year or so MY son will be the star of tomorrow. He just turned 10 and last season was his first. He did pretty good but there is always room for improvement. From last seasons WOS Junior blue (and this is the only team I will talk about): I think Dillon is a given star of tomorrow. Mandel without a doubt. Peyton of course because he has his dad as a coach - like father like son I say. Dragon - your kids are small but they are def. (in my opinion) front runners for being awesome players. Gosh, there were so many kids that deserve the title of "|star of tomorrow" why dont we wait until "tomorrow" to decide who the real stars are?
-
thanks Dragon. He chose BCLL again this year because of Mr. Elmore. He really wanted to play one last time for Mr. Elmore but because he wasn't able to make the tryouts, his name was "put in the hat". He's just excited to start playing again. i think he could play 24/7 if I let him. He'll be too busy next year when he hits high school to play on Pony League because not only has the baseball coach said he wants him on the team but the soccer coach has approached us also. He hasn't played soccer in several years but I guess it's like riding a bicycle: you never forget how to do it. Oh well, see YOU on the football field in a few months. I can already say this: My days as team mom are over. ;D I just wanna be a spectator jumping up and down and yelling at the kids to "run run run" and blowing the air horn for my kids (which includes mine, yours, and everyone else on the team!) Sports ... you gotta love em!

Any league for 15 years old other than Babe Ruth
queenb77630 replied to bbjunk53's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
have not read through all posts yet on this topic but I know that BCLL is taking 14 year olds - not sure about 15 year olds. I would assume they are. Look on bcll.org and contact one of the board members with your question. I wish I could answer your question but i feel confident that you can get your answer that way. Good Luck! -
My son was given several bats recently and I will go through them and see what he has. If he has any that matches what you are looking for, I will let you know. Give me a few days though to gather everything up and organize it all.

if your son gets the opportunity to play for Sean Elmore then you are lucky!! I was so hoping that my son would be picked by Mr. Elmore but my son was not able to make tryouts due to having High School "orientation" the night of tryouts. Anyway, Mr. Elmore is a tough coach but not in a mean way. I think you will like him and the way he coaches. He really cares for the kids. I was told that BCLL is using Minor League names. I think that is neat. Kinda changes things up from the norm. I looked up my sons team logo and was amused by it. I think if the league offers it, I am going to buy myself a shirt and hat. If not, I know where to get it. If you wanna look up your childs team, there is a website called "Leaguedirect.com". Actually, the website offers items for many different sports so if you know of someone who is looking for some things for football or soccer or some other sport, it looked like they offered a lot of items. The prices are great too. Looking forward to another year of baseball. If you are reading this and know of someone in Bridge city who takes live shots of the players, please let me know. Last year I had someone do some action shots of my son but he is not doing that this year because like so many others, he was affected by Ike. I hated to hear that because he did some GREAT pics.

BCLL getting help from City of Houston
queenb77630 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
just for the record: each year my son played for BCLL my husband and I do volunteer our time on the fields and off. thank u for letting me say that. furthermore: i do know how much it costs to fix the fields. I also know how much was raised and i thought it was odd to use the word "start" when talking about fixing things. also, I have NO IDEA what is meant by me starting trouble on this board last year: this is the first year I have gotten on this board so if you think you know me -- you are wrong. Now, if you are talking about my problem with my son's coach last year: yeah, I had a HUGE problem with him but so did soooo many other people, including the board! Don't worry citizens of Bridge City. I paid the fee for my son to play on your fields. I sold the old candy (and it was from last year -- I went back and checked the date on the boxes). I paid the concession fee. I will purchase my cold drinks and such from the league. I will continue to purchase drinks for the players who are sweating, hot and thirsty. I will support the league .. until my kid reaches high school next year and plays against the same young men he has played with these past few years. -
BCLL getting help from City of Houston
queenb77630 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
"started" on repairs? from what I understand, the amount donated / raised was a large amount. with the dollar figure I was quoted, the league should start, finish, and still have money left over!! In addition to that money, there is also the registration fees each parent paid PLUS the concession stand fee PLUS the split on the candy sales. BTW: can anyone answer me why the expiration date on the candy is within the next few months ? was the candy left over from last year? the date concerns me because it tells me the candy was not "new" candy. Just wondering .. it still taste good! Believe me, I've had my share of those chocolate almonds lately. -
I just might take you up on that phone call; thanks. The only one playing baseball would be Andrew. This will be his last year playing Little League because next year, he will be playing High school (oh Lord, did I just say HIGH school? ) He had such a miserable time last year in Bridge City because of his coach, he is really hesitate to go there again this year. Want his last year of Little league to be a good one. Can't believe he has been playing for 8 years now. Gotta few more days to decide. Just curious: Does anyone know the Twin Hendrix Brothers (Jimmy & Jared)?

good to know that the baseball field is getting worked on. I don't have one playing HS yet but come 2009-2010 I will and I want him to play on a nice, safe field. Of course, I will be just as excited about Mustang Baseball as I am for Mustang Football. Lord help me if my kids decide to join any other sports .. I don't know if I can handle that! ;D Go Mustangs - big or small -- not matter what field or track u play on!

how much this year? Also, can you tell me if Shaun Elmore is coaching this year and if so, has he moved up to Pony yet? My son really, really, really, wants to play for Mr. Elmore again. Let me know. Thanks!

I'm wondering if someone can tell me the sign up days, times, and cost associated with playing at Memorial? Andrew (my oldest) has played for Bridge City for the past 2 years and wants to go there again this year but I'm wanting to explore the "local" field / organization this year. Is it true that there are no rules as far as far as every player MUST play one at bat? His coach last year was a real jerk and I had to get on him very often because he was playing favortisim toward his son and guys he had coached for years. The "new" kids weren't given a chance and THAT makes me mad. Anyway, let me know okay? I'm in the decision phase right now so it would be appreciated for truthful answers to my questions. Money is hard to come by right now being the only one working in my house and I want to make an intelligent decision that will benefit my kid.

ENGLISH LESSON....... I was going to translate this to English and make it even more humorous, but I don't have three hours to spend on it. The statements he is trying to make have no merit. He should go back to posting on myspace! amen! why is WOS always being picked on and called out? i myself was at the certification this year and I cannot speak for other teams, but I know for a FACT that each one of our guys were weighed by someone other then our coaches and certified to play (WOS Junior Blue). If you wanna be like us, you don't have to start crap. Just give us your registration money, follow the rules, and you too can be a WOS Lil Mustang. ;D

THERE ARE NO WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS IN HIGH SCHOOL... BUT THIS ISN'T HIGH SCHOOL. I hear the comparison between our league and JR High or High School all the time when it comes to weights, rules, MPRs or even how we play the game. The main difference is that, unlike HS, Coaches can draft players for our teams, but have no input on the pool of players from which we choose. We as head coaches are burdened with the safety of our players without prejudice... Little Johnny's Momma and Daddy want him to try out football this is where they come to make it happen. We can't sit him on the bench and we can't cut him. We live by an entirely different rule set than what we are being compared. And for the record, and I know this isn't popular with any of my assistants but, I wouldn't have it any other way (with the exception of one or two). Nobody has a job as cool as ours. We get the first chance to sand down the rough wood and see what it looks like! But with that, the truth is there are quite a few that are in the wrong sport and we coaches know it... Even if the parents haven't seen it yet. So we deal with that and we have a duty to see to it that it's safe. This can't even be compared to sandlot ball because in the back yard kids get to choose who they're up against or they can walk away. QueenB... At no time have I pointed your son out and said anything about him or accused anyone of anything for that matter. I keep pointing out that what I am suggesting would actually help you with the problem of the height weight ratio you brought up. Actually, as BigD, figured out this thread wasn't about WOS at all. We lost that game... I shook all your hands and said good game... said the same thing here... Haven't said anything else about the game since... I saw this problem at the beginning of the year and wanted to bring it up then, but waited till after the season to avoid this controversy. Next year is the first year since the addition of Pee Wee that all Junior players will only have two years experience. Up till now most of the 10 year olds have had three years of Junior experience. I thought it was a good time to make sure we had the limits right before we go into next year... And while it is still fresh on our minds. If not for a weight increase it sounds like QueenB's son as well as players from other leagues (including a few on my team) might be affected because there is only a 10 pound weight differential from Pee Wee when we have a 30 pound margin to Seniors. Am I the only one that sees the problem with that? It seems to me what has caused most of the problem is when I also suggested that a coach should be able to challenge the weight of a player... That seems fair to me. All I have heard from those that oppose the idea is that their kids never got over 100lbs. If that's true then don't worry about it. BigWorm if your son remained at 98 pounds all year... this doesn't affect you so, just as you suggested, let it go. For the parent asking what to tell their 6 foot 220 pound kid about not playing ball. I don't know what to say other than there are going to be anomalies out there. You can tell him 2 things. One is that most coaches (me included) don't weigh that much and two while he might miss a year of senior ball in the STJFL, if he has any talent to go with his size, there will most likely be a representative from UT at his graduation waiting to talk to him. no no no; i know you didn't question my son. someone else, in an earlier post, made comments that I felt was attacking me and my son. sorry for the confusion there.
