I understand the whole certification process might be confusing but in my opinion if paperwork is not in order they should not be allowed to play ... i would be all for the league giving them extra time and/or help with it .. but just saying oh well, you didnt get your stuff together .. you can play anyway doesnt seem fair!  Just my opinion ..
I'm with you on this one.

 4.
You said it...break often & hydrate those boys!  That's what we do too.  Coaches, don't be shy.  You need the fluids too!
100% correct.  I would like to add that the parents and anyone else watching the game needs to be hydrated too!
 5. I 2nd that emotion!  I know I get on some peoples nerves at the games with my cheering and stuff  ??? but you know what, I really do enjoy the sport.  As always, if you see me at a game, and my son is not on the field, stop and say hello. This is kind of a bitter sweet year for us.  This is his last year playing for STJFL and we will miss you guys.  :'(  With that being said, our family looks forward to the start of the season.  Parents: Please don't rely solely on your coaches to provide drink for your child.  They provide ice cold water; however, I have learned that its always best if you provide to your child his (or her own -- speaking of cheerleaders) drink as well.  A nice snack for halftime is good also.  I find that the kids really enjoy orange slices with grapes.  Put in individual sandwich bags and they can grab one and get nourishment while resting between halves. The heat is going to be a huge factor this weekend.  My son has come home twice already saying that when he practiced "things went black".  When you walk outside and you feel like you can't breath, just imagine what those kids are feeling like wearing all of that heavy, hot equipment!  BTW: LOVE the new Mustangs jerseys!  I want one!!!!!  ;D
 6. Welcome to the field from a Lil Mustang Mom.  Now with the nice stuff outta the way, dang, I'm ready for some football!!!!!!  My son has told his dad to put tape on my mouth before every game this year.  Shoot, when you see him on the field now, you may not recognize him -- Maurice didn't when we signed him up  :o
 7.

well I guess my son won't be playing next year because I think Landry is a smart butt.  Anyone who calls the kids "f(*&ing punks" and doesn't care that he says it in front of a parent deserves and gets no respect from me!
Well I can tell you he coaches the 11U team For Gulf Coast Baseball and I have never heard him speak like that with them or with the high school boys. You must have him confused. I can't say he didn't say that but those words are not the kind of words Coach Landry uses. He is very well respected by parents and players. He demands the kids respect of him and the game. I'm very excited for WOS baseball. If this is what you heard him say then your son shouldn't play. If someone told you this story I recommend you get your own opinion. I for one am very excited about having Coach Landry and realize that he has a marathon to run and not a sprint. It will be an uphill battle. False rumors will not help him get kids out to play. Congrats Coach we are very excited to have you. Tony Dallas
Tony: you know me, I don't go by "hear say".  I heard it!  He may have been having a bad day that time.  He may have been having problems that is none of anyone's business; however, he needs to conduct himself in a proper manner in front of the young people.  He may be a good man; however, on this particular day and time, he showed something other then that to me.

I don't expect them (the coaches) to be all surgery sweet to the players; however, when they (the coaches) are in the presence of the parents (aka: supporters) and young children, WATCH YOUR MOUTH! For whoever said my son deserved it: you are a real piece of work.  Just for the record my son did not play that game; he was sick.  I was still there though, supporting the kids.  Working the concession stand.  Buying the sodas.  Ordering the shirts to support the team.  As a matter of fact, it was the same day that I turned in the sponsorship money that I had collected for the baseball program.  Don't talk about what you don't know!I know Coach Rojas would get onto the players; however, I don't recall ever hearing him curse like that in public.  Practices yes, NOT in public for everyone to hear. As far as Coach T; I loved him when he was my PE coach in high school and I would have been furious had he not been appointed as AD.  I think he will do a wonderful job.  He has the knowledge, expertise, and personality that just makes him such a wonderful man.  I'm sad to see Coach Hooks go; but couldn't ask for a better replacement.
I dont think that kind of language should be used on the field ever but it happens and keeping your son off the team will only hurt one person and its not the coach.
Don't stand too close to the dugout . . . You may be surprised what kind of language your kid is hearing from his peers . . . don't think it starts in High School either . . . Pull your head from the sand and teach him to rise above, not run from what he hears around him.  If you've done your job and set the proper example he should realize what is "right" and act accordingly. I wasn't talking about MY HIGH SCHOOL KID!  I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE OTHER YOUNG KIDS THAT WERE PLAYING BY HE FENCE!

I think Ronnie Anderson was while I was in Jr. High.  Certainly know who he is though.

The leadoff hitter for WOS, Mitchell can play, HR also. The Dogs' Schelett is on fire and roped the ball. Tyler Smith joined Schelett in the HR department.
Did Zane Anderson actually pitch in this game? I thought he was still playing basketball. WOS has a basketball playoff game tonight. Wouldn't he be practicing with the basketball team yesterday?
game was originally scheduled for Tuesday but was moved to Monday so that the kids (?) who play basketball can do both.
 14.
freshman was a joke. they only allowed like 15 pitches per team at a time, runners were left on bases, etc. It was confusing but it also took care of anyone being able to keep "score". If you WERE keeping tally though, Nederland would have won I suppose. Neds JV team beat Orangefield the night before like 44-3 so they might have been trying to save that sort of embarrassment. It was poorly run though and was a colossal waste of time. I hope this isn't what the season is going to be like. Haven't heard much about Varsity. Hopefully they did better than they did against BC though cuz they looked a little sloppy (yes, I know, it was the first scrimmage Ned/BC but still)
I agree.  I called my husband and told him I had no idea what they were doing but it didn't look like a "game" to me.  I have to remember that it was a Scrimmage though; giving the coaches time to see who really makes the cut for regular season and who doesn't.  Regardless, I love watching baseball; especially my son!  ;D
 15. can i retype this, frame it, and give it Jessie Rojas for the locker room in WOS?
 16. My son makes A's and B's in all of his subjects except 1 -- Geometry.  He is struggling with that one subject.  Not because he is lazy and doesn't want to do the work; he is just having trouble grasping the subject.  The "No Pass No Play" rule is adding to his stress about "not getting it".  He has played baseball since he was 5 years old .. to say he LOVES baseball would be an understatement.  To read where some people on this board say that those who are failing are doing so because they are lazy and not wanting to learn makes my blood boil.  To take his "love" away because he is having trouble with the subject is not right.  To be honest, speaking as a mom, it is just plain STUPID and MEAN!  I think the whole picture needs to be looked at.  Is a child failing ALL classes?  Is the child not trying to learn?  If a child is TRYING and still can't "get it", he or she should still be able to play.  Trust me  .. it happens!  I graduated in the top percentage of my high school graduating class and I struggled big time with the same subject my son is having problem with.  I know for a fact that I tried to learn; it just never clicked. Okay, I'm off my soap box.
 17. we the parents!  ;) :D
 18. in response to the poll -- I will answer once you put WOS on the list!  ::)
 19. I'm sure you guys are talking about Varsity which I did not stay for.  JV and Kirbyville tied though.  It was not just COLD out there .... it was FREEZING!!  Not making excuses for Jessie and his Varsity; but if they did get spanked, I'd like to think that played a part in it.
 20.
Plain and simple the best 2 jr. teams in SETX played in the STJFL Super Bowl.  WOS won the game and either team would dominate HJ.  We tried to scrimmage but kept hearing about difference of age and weight.  On to baseball.  They say diamonds are a girls best frown but men love em too.
aww yes, bring on WOS baseball!  My Mustang is chomping at the bit to get on the plate and play play play!!!!  Even the workouts Jessie is putting them through gets him hyped up!  PLAY BALL!!
 21.
Proud father and graduate of WO-S. TWO sons at the middle school and both have yet to fail the taks. Lots of smart intelligent kids at WO-S. Come with another argument HJ.
I'm getting in on the tail end of this here but I have to agree with you Stangs92; my oldest is in high school and has been recognized each time he takes a TAKS test as being above the average student in his grade.  My youngest (my Lil Mustang) may have a learning disability but he still ranks high on his TAKS test as well.  WOS has very, very smart kids (and parents -- thank you very much!) in the district.  I too am a graduate of WOS as I'm sure you all know.  I personally graduated #46 out of over 250 students so I consider myself pretty dang smart if I may say so myself.  Keep your trash talk about WOS is dumb because the only dumb one here is the poster who said otherwise. WOS football and WOS baseball all the way!
 22. quote from video guy: During several of the games, our announcers read the roster list instead of just the starting defensive and offensive lineups.   I thought it was a nice touch, but wasn't sure if they had time to do it for every game.   ----------------------- They did for the Sr. Pro Bowl and when I heard his name my heart did a little flip flop and I just had to rewind the video to hear it again! :D You and your crew did an excellent job Mike. Let me tell everyone a little story here: 2 years ago my son was on the Jr. team that went to Super Bowl.  He rode the bus to the field while his dad, my oldest son and I followed in our car.  We were involved in an auto accident on top of the Rainbow Bridge that sent me to the hospital in an ambulance.  I checked out with a cracked sturnum but otherwise okay.  I was not able to make the game.  I was not able to see my son and his teammates win the Super Bowl that year.  Not in person at least.  My husband bought a video and brought it home to me.  Through the excellent camera shots and commentary, while I was watching the video, it felt like I was actually there to see his win. I will always remember that.  The memories of that day and the win will always be there to go back and watch.  It is something that he (my son) can show his kids when he gets older.   Again: Thank you Sheffield Productions!  Everyone that I have met over the past few years are 100% professional and oh so nice!
 23.
I just wanted to take this opportunity to Thank All the fantastic North Zone Pro Bowl players and coaches. You guys are the Best!!! To achieve all that you did in 3 days of practice shows not only your physical abilities, but also your mentality. You are a credit to your individual organizations. You guys ROCK!! It was a pleasure and honor to meet you, coach you, and of course win the Pro Bowl. Congrats to the South Zone also on being selected to participate in the 2010 contest. Mike Minton, Head Coach
I tell you what Coach Mike that was a GOOD game; and fun too!  You guys came out and dominated the field for a little bit and then the Blue stepped up and it was on from there!  Congrats to your team and to all of the players who were selected for the Pro Bowl.  I saw why the guys are called "the best of the rest"!  Whew, I LOVED it; even though I was shivering so bad from being so cold.  Those metal bleachers were not easy to sit on!  ;D
 24. I wouldn't stress to much over it.  I know for a fact that you stressed several times to get the rosters with the pronunciations of the names.  If the parents are complaining, then they need to complain to the coaching staff for not doing what they were asked to do. I could not be any happier with ALL of my videos from the past few years.  To be honest, the one that I like the most was the one from the Pro Bowl this past weekend.  The guys doing commentary made several references to my Lil Mustang and the camera zoomed in on him a lot.  I LOVED it! I was a little disappointed that the "meeting in the middle of the team captains" was not on the tape but then, again, I just like seeing my son on video!  ;D Videoguy: you are the best!  THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!
 25. congrats!  We were planning on staying to watch after the Sr. Pro Bowl but we were FREEZING!  Good job!!!
