He's probably a good enough basketball coach, but isn't he the AD?  Is he also the head football coach?  If so, he may not be there 3 years for his basketball program to take root. WH looks like a basketball team before the game starts but they just dont jell once the game is underway.  They'll be ok at basketball if he stays.

I think an occasional "what the he**" or a well placed "da**" gets the blood flowing and gets the point across with a bit of a punch.  BUT, a coach that cusses a player or players and uses profanity regularly is a cover-up for POOR COACHING.    JMO

it does seem the cm has a bigger chip on his shoulder than he's willing to admit.  he's STILL not over it. Anyway, the Rebels did overlook HD the 1st time but they seem to have hit their stride.  As blue said, not going to give a spread but i believe the Rebs take this one.

IF the  Rebels come out and "go to work", it'll be a 30 point game in Evadales favor.  This bunch does sometimes play as if they look good, and when they work hard they do!

WOW. I knew it was bad but 15% on free throws!!??  It's very difficult to beat a good team with anything less than 50% from the line.  Sure, you would hope for 60-70% as a team but 15% spelled dome in itself.

Kountze has one heck of a basketball tradition and I'd dang sure be playing up...way up if needed.  With Kountze its not about getting ready for district its about getting ready for the drive to Austin!  Leggett, Goodrich???  No way ranked teams in [b]Div II[/b] 1A should even be considered.  I'm just making an observation.  An Example is WOS in football, those guys play up and travel to get tough games, not games they expect to blow someone out but games they expect to get their nose bloodied a bit.  Sorry, I'll leave you basketball fellas alone...

Not taking anything from Kountze, they can play for sure!  But do they play any 3A teams other than in tournaments? Seems their schedule is heavy laden with very small 1A teams...again, I know they can play, I've watched them twice this year.  Just wondering.

Yeah, that's an upset.  If the game took place on Spurger's home court, it was definitely an upset!

Totally agree with alum.  The Pirates would have had a better workout if they would have inter-squad or played their own JV 4 times.  And yes, the Evadale tournament always has some pretty good teams if you're looking for a 1A tournament.

The Rebels will surprise some folks this year.  I think this is the best coach they've had since Coach Terrior. Looking good Rebels.

Honest Abe is a retard.  Not sure who he's affiliated with but he's no Rebel.  Not a real Reb anyway.  No, HI doesn't stand much of a chance in a playoff game, but under the UIL format this year they did qualify.  So play the game.  And good luck.

Nobody here is saying that SP or HI should turn down the chance to play in the playoffs.  Mr Gorilla brought an excellent point that I 100% agree with.  In theory, if this were only a 3 team district instead of 4 teams, a team could go WINLESS on the year and make the playoffs.  And that's not too far fetched. What if SP or HI had some injuries or "no pass no play" problems and had to forfeit the season?  Then everyone's in and maybe the 3rd team is 0-10.  I appreciate how you feel about your home team, we all love our home teams.  The point rilla is making is that the UIL missed this one.....and he's flat-out right!!!!
