  1. AggiesAreWe, I just call it like I see it! If you are going to pretend that if in Silsbee they had done the same thing for the last thirty years, and all of the sudden without any notice that they were even going to discuss this, much less vote on it in a board meeting, they discontinued the service that the people of Silsbee would not get upset. Well I have a hard time believing that of any community. thetrajichippy, WOS does not even play Lumberton so obviously I was not talking to you. I did not state that YOU were trying to sabotage the program, I simply stated that (you= all that think it was a great move) thought it was great idea. Obviously anything that affects kids in a negative manner is not a good idea, I don't care how much money it will save. Little League has nothing to do with School athletics. But I have seen the Little League Football field and it seems to be growing every year, new lights, stands. It is a very nice field as I have been there many times.
  2. What kills me is all of you WOS haters, The only reason most of you are glad that they did this, or think it is a good idea is because you think that maybe this will allow you to somehow beat WOS in the future. You are just scared to say what you really mean. If any of the posters that are claiming that this was a good idea were in a school district that had provided this for the last 30 years and all of the sudden without notice or warning they voted to stop it, I guarantee you would all be upset just as the WOS people are. If you want to beat them quit secretly hoping their program will fall apart and just get better and work harder. Quit being a hater because you can't beat them.
  3. sportsnut72, Don't start putting crap on here about someone letting some kid slide at the scales. That I can assure you has never happened at least not in the last 8 years for sure. All you are trying to do is start some crap. You have nothing to back up your statement, you are just spouting out bull. The majority of all of the kids are weighed in at their appropriate time. And the fact that the last certification is in Orangefield for the last 3 years is voted on by the entire board, as your statement indicates WOS has nothing to do with were it is held except one vote just like everyone else. So don't start your crying, because you can't back up your statements, I can guarantee that.
  4. TD is talking about WOS not LCM, at their board meeting Tuesday one of the members said that they would be luck to even have an athletic program next year.
  5. Bear 2010, what is your problem, Number one, there are several kids from LCJH still playing football, so get your facts right Second, don't get on here and slam people for downing the kids from MMS and in the same breath down the kids at LCJH Talk about a hypocrite Third, people like you are part of the problem here in LCM instead of trying to bring the community together you are tearing it down.
  6. The reason that MMS and LCJH quit playing was exactly what someone else has already posted. MMS always brought their 8th grade to play the LCJH 7th grade and after they administered a but whipping to a bunch of 7th graders, LC always had to here about how MMS whipped them. There is and has always been animosity between the two towns, David decided it would be better not to play at all than to have this take place every year, it just created more problems down the line with the kids. As far as having to JHs goes the main reason PNG and NED are successful is because both of their JHs are as big as a 4a JH, MMS and LCJH are not even close to that size, it would help them compete at a higher level if they were combined,as someone else stated they could be competitive against the teams they will play in HS. The reason that you will not get a MMS schedule is because for the longest 8th grade always played 7th grade A and 7th played 7th grade B.
  7. When I was a sophomore at LC-M in 1985, we went though a coaching change when Dupree left. We the football team all got together and went to the school board meeting and ask i they would keep the hiring in house. We asked for David Williams. The hired Pat Wozniak. I commend the kids for stepping up for what they want, but don't be surprised if they don't really listen to them.
  8. I will bet that they will not show. But let a fight break out and they will all show up to put that on the news.
  9. How could LCM be interested in anyone. I would be willing to bet once you get out of the Golden Triangle area, the don't have a clue as to who coaches where. The school board and sup. do not follow football outside of this area, especially who is caoching where. So I would find it hard to believe that they could be interested in anyone at this time unless they have already applied.
  10. Big difference, the Guy at LCM could care less about LCM, if he did he would not be killing the program any more than he already has by dragging this out.
  11. Someone on here asked for some stats, here is a good one for you, in 25 years, the defenses of WOS under the direction of Coach "T", Have never in a single season allowed more than 19.5 points per game average. That includes 5A, 4A, and 3A. I am not saying that this will win the game Saturday, but not many programs can claim that.
  12. I heard today that the school board in WOS voted to discontinue the bus transportaion for the kids that are involved in extracurricular activities. They have always brought the kids home after practice in the afternoon. If this is the case, that could serve to destroy all of the extracurricular programs at the school. Someone see if you can find out more about this situation. It would be horrible to expect those kids to walk home after every day.
  13. The saddest thing of all is, we, the STJFL have been trying to get any news station including KFDM to cover our superbowl games for about 5 years now. None of them have ever showed an interest in all of the wonderful things that take place every year in the league. Last year the superbowl had parachuters, foreworks and all kinds of activities for the kids, you think the news crew showed up when asked nope. But you let one thing happen bad and they are all over it. I wish we could have gotten this kind of response from the media on all of the great things that have happened in the STJFL not just the one bad. I guess all the great things the kids do is not important to the media just the stupid things that parents do.
  14. That's funny...if a particular sport were king then you would think that sport would have the most state championships and state appearances in a given area. In SE TExas basketball has more than double the state appearances and state championships that football does going back over 40 years.....and football has twice as many state championships to play for. Hmmmmm....so much for being king. He did not say SE Texas he said Texas. If you are going to try to come on here and state that basketball is king in Texas, you must be from Illinois or something. If though there has been more titles in basketball, football is still king even in SE Texas.
  15. What about 1983, LC-M vs. Jasper, only one goes to the play-offs. Jasper kicks a last second field goal to win 14 - 16 off of a LCM shanked punt.
  16. What about those who coach for years and never have a kid on the team?
  17. LC-M has never set the world on fire, but it used to be a competitive program. They have never been this bad all the time.
  18. Block 76 you don't know what you are talking about. First, the scoreboard does not determine if you are a loser, if you think that then you obviously have never coached. Second there have been several years in the past that the bears have played for the district championship, have gone to the play offs and had winning seasons. Before you get on here and start calling a bunch of kids losers that I happen to care about, you should wake up every morning and look in the mirror. Because to make a statement like that you must me a loser. These kids are winners not because of what happens on Friday night, but because of who they are. How many of them do you know personally?
  19. I see nothing wrong with not letting a team score. If my defense has worked hard and not let a team score, are suggesting that I let them score. Running up the score is a problem, but preventing a team from scoring is usually a defensive goal at any level. The tie breaker rule in no way incourages a coach to run up the score because it in no way helps himto score more points.
  20. In my opinion most of the junior high coaches couldn't put air in the football, much less coach a team. You are right some youth coaches don't do it all right but a lot of jr high coaches don't either and they get paid to screw it up. The kids that came out of a good youth program are light years ahead
  21. On the aspect of the game, technique, basics of the game, etc. absolutely. Just because you are big, fast and strong does not make you a football player, although it helps.
  22. It does not help them to score points on you, if they beat you and they are tied with you overall, then the tie is broke by head up play meaning they beat you so they go and you do not. They have no incentive to run the score up because of play off tie. Unless they are trying to help out another team, which I don't see happening. The more points you allow hurts you but not against a team that has already beat you.
  23. Although that is true the kids that do play are light years ahead of the ones who don't when they get to middle school.
  24. Any coach worth his salt should be playin all his kids in a blow out, you never know when you may need that kid to fill in for good. That rule does not keep coaches from playing player, coaches keep coaches from playing other players.
  25. I once heard a highschool coach say that if my kid was physically capable, I would absolutley play him a QB if I was the youth coach. The reason why is I work with him everyday at home and during the summer, who is going to be better prepared than a kid who is being coached even after practice is over everyday on his position. So not all of the time but a lot of the time it makes sense to play you kid at QB if he is able.
