I just don't feel it should be discussed now...I understand your concerns and I support them, i just think the timing right now for the kids and ones involved in the playoffs is too soon...but that's my opinion!!!

I applaud you Kville99 and I couldn't agree with you more..The timing of this thread is wrong..Coach Barbay was a Legend in Newton and it goes way deeper than some of you think..He was not just a Coach and that showed every year when the stadium was filled with ex players and their family deep into the playoffs..This will get the coverage it needs, I just feel that now after his team is out and while his son is still playing you guys need to understand!!! And yes it is called Respect!!!!!!!!!  Shall you rest in peace Curtis Barbay, you will be greatly missed by all...............

Tarkington has a great program..Those kids that play year round and on the top club teams in the Houston area are hard to beat!! They are not just physically ready for the game but mentally as well...You might be just as good as them, but in the end because of all their hard work and training they win..I  watched the Columbus/Tarkington playoff game and Tarkington was fired up the first game and I thought you guys were going to get it done.. Be proud you have a school that supports your sport and a coach that obviously knows the game..I sure enjoy watching you guys on the court..Good Luck next season!!!

If you care about Newton football and Coach Barbays family you will delete this thread...I have no ties to kirbyville but I do to Curtis Barbay!!!

Well deserved is right......Just went to watch a playoff game and had never even heard of her and she smiled and carried herself like a true athlete....Have no doubt if the coach would have been able to play her all the way around they would have won.....Congrat's to the coach, your team was fun to watch as well....Can anyone tell me what kind of injury Miss Bell had, just courious?  I have a daughter that is fighting an injury and it's so hard.....

Bears will win this...bulldogs never seem to have all the best players on the field at the same time!!  35 - 14 Bears.....

Bleed, the girls don't even get to touch a volleyball during athletics now, what makes you think they get to touch it 1 day a week during basketball.....I think what you are talking about is the girls that want to work on their volleyball skills on a day that doesn't involve a school practice/game....If a kid wants to work on his or her other multiple sports on a Saturday/Sunday or 7pm at night, why is that anyone elses business other than the Parents that are paying for it??  And Rizon, glad to see you support as well.....

Bleed, I believe that can be said for Orangefield.....aren't they playing basketball during the current volleyball season.. At the beginning of this season they looked like one of the top teams..now they look like $):@!  But one statement is right, you should focus on the sport in season and that should never change.... :)

Orangefield plays host to BC Friday night, it will be OF's "Sideout against Cancer Night."   Varsity will begin at 5:00, followed by JV and Freshman....Please come out and support.... Both of these teams are still undefeated in District so this should be a great game to watch as well as a great cause to support......Coach Holbrooks has her Lady Bobcats all in the right places.....Her backrow this year is amazing and those Seniors are leaving it all on the court....I even saw where she called on some young bobcats and they showed her they can fight as well, great job lady's and Kudo's to you Coach, you are doing a great job there at OF.....This game will be really hard to predict, although i feel OF will always have 6 players on the court at all times that know their positions, you still have the talented coaching ability of Mathews right there changing things up....I'm going to say this will be a Coach's game, no matter which one ends up on top I feel both of you will have the top 2 teams in the District....Good luck to you both......
