  1. The Roadrunners have dipped into SETX pretty heavy for 2008: Jake Rowell-LCM Jerrod Dugas-LCM BJ Myers-BC Chris Laird-Ned Aaron Dalton-Ned Josh Cabra-Ned Should be fun to watch with a strong returning squad that won 41 games.
  2. Jake Rowell from LCM has decided to go to Angelina JUCO instead of McNeese St. Congrats to Jake who joins former Bear Jerrod Dugas in Lufkin
  3. I said it once and I will say it again, EXPOSURE,EXPOSURE,EXPOSURE. If you have played on a MAJOR Summer Select team as a soph., Jr, than you have faced outstanding competition and have been seen by hundreds of scouts. If not than you need to hit the tryout circuit in the Houston area as well as East Texas so you can be seen. By this time most of the JUCO's have either 1 or no scholarships left and that is out of 27, this past weekend was the biggest tourney of every year the Houston Heat invitational where all of the schools are looking to replace drafted as well as players who moved up a level, but do to the weather it was rained out so do not give up just yet. Hit the tryout camps hard.
  4. Phillip, tell your Dad a OLD teammate said hi! Go to this website H5AB.com, they have all of the local tryouts for every school and scout you can imagine. They should be in need more this year than in years past due to the Houston Heat tourney being cancelled last week. Good luck to you and if I hear anything else I will be sure to email you.
  5. Rumors are you could see former LCM standout and Aggie Freshman Clayton Ehlert on the hill tonight....
  6. UTSA scores 2 in the 9th and Lamar scores 1 and left the tying run in scoring position as Baker strikes out to end the game 7-6. Lamar could not get Keithly out the SS was 5-5 with 2 doubles. UP next is Texas St. vs SFA and then Undefeated Sam Houston takes on the #1 seed UTSA. Winner of Texas St. and SFA will face SH if they eliminate UTSA. That game is at 11:00 on Saturday.
  7. Remember for the NCAA it is all about the Benjamins: A&M can hold over 7,000 and TCU maybe 4,000 ULL maybe 3500 so who do you think will get it and forget about RPI and think about $$$ It really hurts that LSU is down because usually if you have a school in the SLC from La. they go to Baton Rouge,
  8. I almost disagree, UT for most of the year had Austin Wood as there tuesday night guy, hell he pitched against Rice twice and went 1-1. But my point is he has performed so well that he started the 3rd game of the A&M series and beat the Aggies look for him to contribute in the regionals and supers. The SLC is not strong enough in my opinion to win a regional, and the reason is they will be like a earlier post said sent to Austin or Houston were the #4 or #2 team awaits.
  9. Jake's 11 HR's ties a school record held bu Billy Burrow,Shon Landry and Adam Jaynes. It ends before the playoffs so they do not count. The way the ALL-District picks work according to a coach is for example, they(Coaches) nominate player's for a position and if one receives all the votes he is 1st team, if it is the majority than the second place guy gets 2nd team and so on and so on. Now this could be wrong but that was the explanation I got last year, very important who you are up against. So if Jake was MVP that left it open for 1st team catcher.
  10. ShlyKBMT, everything looks good except for that PNG helmet....... As always in this tourney it is a curse to be the #1 seed, and really the hottest team going would be SFA after Taking 2 of 3 from Sam Houston. Bearkats- I just cannot figure these guys out, should be the best with that lineup but just cannot get the job done on a consistant basis. Game #1 Upset Special SFA over UTSA Game #2 Lamar over McNeese St. only because the Cowboys will not have Kingrey Game #3 Texas St. over Sam Houston The SLC again will probably only receive the Automatic Bid.
  11. I have been lucky enough or should I say unlucky enough to watch both teams up close when they played UTPA, and I would be surprised if A&M won 1 game, don't get me wrong I like the Aggie Team ( did I just say that??) but the Horns first 5 hitters are 6'1 plus Lefthanders that can absolutly stroke, and not to mention they have the best player in the country in Kyle Russell. Slight edge to A&M's Pitching but everything else lands at UT's feet.
  12. Let's make sure we understand this TOPIC, it is nominations for COACH OF THE YEAR....... That means you put down who you think should win and why, NOT why some other COACH should LOOSE>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Move on to who you think deserves it and leave the other BS out: Now my turn: Small School- Coach Hooker Large School- Coach Green Overall: Coach Griff...how in the heck did you pull that off??? Great job!
  13. Like was stated in past forums the entire District was and is very young and it will show in the pressure filled playoffs. Now let's not take away from what the teams accomplished mainly the LCM Bears, this will be were Coach Griff and Coach Step. earn there money. They will bounce back, but I will promise you this you will not want to see this team in the playoffs next year or 2 years from now.....
  14. I finally made the trip to see the Bears play against Nederland last week and was very impressed on the way the Bears swing the bat. I was however disappointed in the Nederland Bulldogs, and Admin can chime in hear, I just thought I would see a more talented team and I did not. Now I know the District itself is very young with the exception of Ozen and Dayton. With the youth of this district it should be very interesting to see how strong they can become in the coming years. And I do not want to take away from the LCM Bears because what they have accomplished is great.
  15. I doubt it will be at Lamar they have a hugh series with Texas State and are schedule to play @ 2pm sat. and 1pm sun.
  16. This is a tremendous tribute to Clayton, he is redshirted and probably not happy about it because he had to battle injuries in the fall. He just continues working his butt off and pitches in the Wednesday intersquad games and it got to were he was shutting his own team down. Coach needs help, approaches Clayton about pulling off the redshirt with only about a quarter of the season left and Clayton and his family jumped at the chance. For all you players that think you work hard and don't get a fair opportunity, this is how you create your own opportunity. I stand and applaud Clayton Ehlert....great job kid.
  17. OK now that I don't have a dog in this race I will give my opinon since that is all any of us are doing...... Ferguson and Murphy from WB have been doing this for a few years now and are at the head of the class.....That is why Ole Miss and Houston offered them a shot. Hearn-LCM not bad but needs to continue to grow as a player, has tremendous potential. Gunn-LCM, this kid is just fun to watch he makes some really great plays and plays the game the way your suppose to with pure hustle and love....watch out for him in a year VJ Bunner-Vidor, This is the rising star, I have heard nothing but great things about this kid, great arm and range all the tools and let's not forget he has Coach Gray to help him and that young man had a top notch glove. Riley-Woodville, Another outstanding kid who has done this for a few years, going to Sam Houston but I believe it is as a pitcher.
  18. I believe it is the TOP 2 from each division plus 2 at large with the best remaining conf. records.
  19. After all of the great games this weekend the TOP 5 must be adjusted.....Lamar sweeps SH @ Huntsville.....WOW!!! 1. UTSA- They just continue to get it done, now they are in first in the south division. 2. Lamar- You have got to give props to the Cardinals going to Huntsville and sweeping a great hitting team rockets them up the charts.... 3. Texas State- Not a bad weekend big games ahead. 4. McNeese St- Also took 2 of 3 on the road and seem to be playing good at the right time. 5. Sam Houston- WOW!! What can I say protect the home field!!!
  20. WOW!! Great job Lamar, I will need to update my TOP 5 with all the excitment this weekend.....
  21. I have been able to see most of the SLC teams play this year due to following the boy so here is my Top 5 in the SLC:: 1. Texas State- Overall the best, good solid pitching, along with good speed and a solid offense. 2. Sam Houston- Probably the best coached team, love the big swingers in the middle of the offense, pitching is a little above average for the SLC. Defense is the question mark. 3. UTSA- Another solid club but not strong offensively except for Rockett. 4. Lamar- Good offense, weak pitching and surprising suspect defense. 5. McNeese St.- Started slow and seem to be picking up steam, lost some players early that should have been starting but now team chemistry seems better. Could surprise everyone in the SLC tourney.

  23. Loveofthegame, Please before you say stupid things check the facts, while it means absolutly nothing to me LSU-E plays a very good schedule that already includes a sweep of Galveston, and Laredo. They played and beat Wharton, and Bossier City last year. The head Coach at LSU-E has averaged 8 players a year signing with top D-1's. I understand the debate and everyone pulls for there own guy but with another great statement from Dayton That the catcher did not sign because Mcneese St. did not give him a full scholarship...........No such thing @ a D1 unless you are a LH Pitcher that throws 92+ and he will probably only get 80%. Jake Rowell has done it for 3 years in a row, Jackson and Carnahan need to stay healthy like Jake for 3 years and then we can talk. Catcher is a tough position and from what I understand Jake has played some 3B as well as 1B.
  24. If you get the time or chance go to the petition and read some of the signatures and comments, for me it brings back some great memories. And For Coach Young ever kind word is well deserved. How would you like to be on the school board that might not let this happen........might not be a fun place.
