Help rename BC baseball field after Coach Young
Bears replied to redbirdbaseball's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Cardinal Baseball was put on the map by Chuck Young and the program became one of the State's best because of his hard work and dedication. The only problem I see is it should have been done years ago. 2 Names are at the Top when you think of baseball in this area....Coach Anderson-WOS and Coach Young-BC. Cardinal Baseball Alum 1977-1980 -
Remember LCM is young and this will be a very good road test, if they continue the hot bats than I like LCM by 3. Also Dayton is now in the mist of a schedule that shows them how good 22-4A is in baseball so here is their chance to prove something. Should be a good game.

Chad Clement Resigns as McNeese Baseball Head Coach
Bears replied to JMay's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
That is not correct, if you do not loose your coach he must release you for you to transfer from one D1 to another D1 without sitting a year...( ARP Rule 1 time ) NCAA is reviewing this and may not allow you to do this without sitting a year. But you can leave a D1 and go to D2 or D3 Or JUCO and not sit. -

Yes he can de-committ if the Coach who recruited him leaves. -
I was trying to stay out of this but I just can't. OK Bears return 1 starter and that is Jake the Snake and only 1 pitcher with a varsity outing on the hill Legget and everyone picks them to finish outside of the the top 3 or 4. I to said let's see how they handle the hostile enviroment in Brenham.....Answer 3-1-1 better than last years team. Well Coached and some very classy kids who love the game and their opportunity to be a BEAR and all the tradition that goes with it. Let's just enjoy what these kids have accomplished instead of bashing, time will tell how could they will be.........but here is a scary thought for the Mustang or 4A,.. they will be on that field for the next 3 years..........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As far as this Mustang Fan, probably still blames LCM for the playoff crap back in the early 90's.

UT PanAm beats Texas St. 3-1 and OU 2-0 on Saturday but falls 6-5 to the Sooners and 12-5 to the Bobcats on Sunday. Local player Jerrod Dugas made a appearance for the Broncs against TSU playing SS and going 0-1. Also HF's local boy Phillip Lynch got the win against the Broncs in the sunday nightcap and look very good.

The Cowboys will be visiting a former LCM player as well in Edinburg playing for Pan Am.

Player of the Year- Members Choice Award Nominations
Bears replied to jdawg03's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
There is about 4 really good players for this spotlight: Mosley- Ned,Great year, carried Nederland on his back. Williams-Central, Same can be said about his team he carried them. Williams-Deweyville, Great year also super numbers. But to me MVP means what he did to help his team go to the next level, while both the RB's and QB could when a MVP Offense award, or position award none played both sides of the ball like Earl Thomas-WOS, The most electrifying player in the Golden Triangle hands down, Great Receiver with break away speed and soft hands, amazing RB, who could cut on a dime or run over you, shutdown corner and could cover any receiver in this area and shut him down. MVP or Mr. Everything it's a easy call. And I am from LCM....... -
WOW!!!!!!! This is fixin' to get good........... Select was once a chance for the top players from the different local baseball leagues, now it is a watered down version. Don't get me wrong you still have some excellent organizations that compete at the highest levels and win National tourneys....such as the SETX Sundevils did at the Jr. Olympics, and the Houston Heat @ the World Wood Bat, there is also the Columbia Angels, Dallas Mustangs, so on and so on. You as a parent have to put your kid in the best situation to grow as a player and as a person, it is a tremendous amount of pressure applied to these kids when they play on a stage against a team like the Canadian Bluejays(all College Freshman) and 30 to 40 scouts from allover the country are watching. The new game in select as referred to by MIF04 is the practice of stealing other top players from top organizations.......it is by the way getting out of hand, I have seen it first hand being lucky enough to help with the Heat for 2 years, players are called all the time and feed all kind of BS about there current team. The only thing I would say is look at the organization or team that you would like your son to be a part of, see if there is a list of commiments from their players and were they are going, how many were drafted, what kind of tourneys do they go to? Coaches? are they Daddy's are real coaches that don't have a dog in the race, they just want to play the best players. and of course cost......... Remember it has become very watered down, some "SELECT" teams around Houston and the GT could not finish 5th in district 224A. This is just the views of a local sports freak and a baseball loving Dad.

Preseason All Southeast Texas Team Nominations

Good point Bear09, but look for him to surface at 3B, Rowell will see time at 1B, but the bears will be OK remember there is a very good catcher coming up Leger.....love this kid. He needs to recover from injuries. Bears will surprise a few... -
This is really a silly topic, J. Charles is a World Class sprinter and a major force on a National Championship Team last year and at the top of the D-1 level. Mosley is a very good HS rb, but he is not even the best runner that has come out of Nederland....that belongs to Troy Summeral (spelling) although I did argue for him. And do you really beleive that Mosley would have those kinds of numbers at a huge D1??? Admin. Time for you to chime in here......

My son played with Bagley and Chris Morris on the Heat and it will be very tough to replace those two boys, Listi is the real deal but he will need help, and the jump from 3a to 4a is worse in baseball than football. Good Luck,

Don't be surprised to see Rowell spending a large amount of the season @ 1B, if it works out for the Bears. I said Nederland knows how to win close games like that and LCM will learn how in the future if they continue playing well. I do agree however that this is a waste of topic.......

Thoughts On District 21 3A This Year?
Bears replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Should be a district to rival the 4A, Mustangmom2007, if they win 5 games this year it will be overachieving. 1. Silsbee- Best Pitching in the District and a solid lineup. 2. Jasper- Only if the lefty can go, because he will face BC both times. They also have a solid lineup and great coaching. 3. Bridge City- Lost some strong players but still have Stringer and Meeks, Jackson will need someone very good behind him in the lineup or he will never see a good pitch. Look out for a Freshman!!! should start at SS. 4. HF- Landry can coach with anyone in the area and has that team climbing 5. Kirbyville- not sure how good the pitching will be. 6. HJ- Again lost a strong protion of lineup 7. Orangefield- some good underclassman coming in 8. WOS- Will take the new coach a year or two to get the other good ball players to show up on the diamond.
