  1. Several have cast blame at the new AD for this happening and I just don't see it that way. Orangefield has basically turned into a little PNG over the years so there are lots of similarities, but you can't be upset about a guy bettering his situation in all facets. For the record, the new Orangefield coach is a rock star too.
  2. Not really following much of this. You think Lumberton is a better job than Hamshire Fannett?
  3. So his tenure at Hamshire Fannett was even shorter than his dad's! I guess I get it. Hard to pass up a chance to learn from one of the masters in Josh Mitchell.
  4. He had a really good run at Orangefield, but can't blame the guy for moving up in classification, prestige, and income!
  5. LCM is bad, but what do you expect? Peevy has that place a football factory.
  6. I thought he was going to Hamshire Fannett? He would have helped put them over the top.
  7. You know all those teams stunk. Nothing against any of their coaches.
  8. I saw them several times and never thought that team was good. They did well in an awful district, but what happened when they played the only quality team in Silsbee? 70 piece. Then they lost to a 4 seed in the playoffs. I think Robertson is a good coach that does more with less. A lot like Coach Mitchell at Lumberton.
  9. I don't know how you evaluate an assistant coach. I'm sure those guys are good, though. My point is that United is going to drop off and the main reason for it is not coaching changes.
  10. No disrespect to the Hancock brothers (one in the world's baggiest suit and the other in a baby suit), but them losing 6 D1 athletes over the last three years is why they will drop off. A butterfly could have coached those teams successfully.
  11. Sure. You reassign an employee and they leave voluntarily instead of being fired and being open to litigation. The outcome is the same, but you are making my point. The superintendent and AD and principal are all empowered to make personnel decisions. Instead of accepting the decision made, you talk about lawyering up, no one else was reprimanded, railroad job. I am old enough to remember when high school sports taught life lessons...accountability being chief among them.
  12. I heard the assistant was going to get this job and assume it was referring to the old Vidor coach, Nate Smith. I always thought he did more with less at Vidor and can't help but think he shares some responsibility in Vidor's recent success.
  13. Classic Bridge City. Always someone else's fault, refs/umpires cheated, AD with an agenda, yada, yada, yada. As far as I can tell it's damn near impossible to get fired at these schools so when someone does get fired, it's usually something. Drama at Bridge City is a constant. The guy did a good job coaching basketball and I'm sure he'll continue that somewhere else. Time to move on.
  14. I don't think he was referring to the Bridge City AD.
  15. If you're talking about Josh Mitchell sliding in there, I am here for it. I'd love to see the wizard with some real talent.
  16. I am confused why an arbitrary individual award that is non-monetary is such a big deal to you. Everyone now thinks they should be recognized for every little thing they do. How bout these kids just go play the game and have fun and not need constant reinforcement and ego boosting? I promise they won't get that when they go to work. Why do you believe the votes have gone differently than you believe they should?
  17. It doesn't matter what any of us think. It's the district coaches' decision and they picked the best player on the best team so it can't be that egregious. I do think there should be some accountability with these votes, though. These are public schools so the voting should be open to public record. Maybe they could even do it at a place like Twin Peaks and people could present their case with film and stats. Then we could see who voted for who without all the backwoods politicking. I think I would go to that all district meeting.
  18. This is why I poke at you all the time. There's so much wrong in this post. The refs aren't cheating you or your kid. They're certainly not afraid of you having "evidence" in a kangaroo court. You're not achieving anything by acting like a Jersey Shore fool (standing up for them as you say), except to entertain people. Do you think that causes officials to change how they call in the Bobcats' favor? And why are you even talking to your kid in the middle of the game? Pretty sure he has a real coach who is pretty dang good. Your son is a really good player. Like really good. And I love watching him play (except for all these techs), but I seem to find myself always watching your antics. Orangefield has had a fantastic season and I hope it continues past Hitchcock.
  19. I was not at this game, unfortunately, but I have a question. You are saying Kountze faceguarded and doubled your son. Were they not in a diamond press and zone? I have never seen a Kountze team not in zone. Just curious.
  20. Nobody likes excuses. We're not really blaming officials, are we?
  21. They would go 6-4 regardless of offense with that schedule and district. Lots of bold statements here that mean nothing. By all accounts, this guy is a good coach.
  22. None of that. Chris Smith is a good coach and their time is coming. They won't lose out.
