  1. Hearing DJ Wilson's name a lot and one has to believe that the current assistant is involved. He's got some really good head coaching experience. Bobcats can't go wrong with either one of those guys...and they're related!
  2. I usually agree with you, but i think Lumberton finishes towards the bottom. They lost a ton. So does Silsbee, but they're Silsbee. Rest of the district bring a lot back from poor teams. I think this is the weakest the district has probably ever been. I do think Jake McDonald gets your Bobcats into the playoffs. The HF, HJ, Huffman district will be a battle. Three good teams. I'll be interested to see who is suiting up for the Horns, but they should be good.
  3. Good list, but you only put seven. Add Anthony Allen (Lincoln), Daimon Sweet (Central), Imannuel McElroy (Lincoln), Kelvin McKyer (Lincoln), Darryl McArthur (Silsbee), Keena Young (Ozen), Braelon Bush (Silsbee) all have to be in that discussion. Guy from Nederland named Buddy Davis played in the NBA and won a gold medal in the Olympics, but I never saw him play. Probably has the resume to make it though.
  4. I see your point and I think those two will be NBA players. So will others at Montverde. Eight months doesn't make a huge difference, but when the gap is two or three years it adds up. That's not just s&c, but experience, discipline, and maturity as well. This is why I think the teams dominated by one and done kids don't win as many championships as people think they should.
  5. Montverde, IMG, Oak Hill, Sunrise, Findlay, etc are all very, very good, but they should be. They pull talent from all over the country and even the world. Of course they should strum a school like Yates, who only pulls players from all over Houston. And a typical high school team only gets kids from their own town or district. It's not a level playing field, but we're not getting into that again. Now, Montverde vs SFA or a mid-major is an interesting question. They'd be more talented and their potential is MUCH higher, but I've heard Marvin Lewis say potential gets you beat. The difference in the body of a 21 yr old compared to a 16 yr old is huge. The difference mentally is even more pronounced. I'd argue that coaching would be in favor of an SFA as well. Those prep coaches would jump at the opportunity to be a D1 coach. How much strategy goes into beating high school teams by 50 with a team of all stars? How much struggle and adversity? The benefit of going to those prep schools is to practice against the best day in and day out and they serve that purpose. I don't think Montverde would win a mid major conference though.
  6. Of course he voted for himself. Anyone who didn't vote for him must be racist. Just like the refs are racist when he loses. Great message to send to kids. Now, sign on all your different logins and blast away, coach.
  7. What are they bitter about? Now why in the world would the district coaches not vote for those HF kids?
  8. I can. This cat doesn't think any rules apply to him. I can't wait for him and his boys to get on here and comment.
  9. I assume you are saying Coach Rideaux voted for himself. Is that something that they aren't supposed to do?
  10. I don't like cheaters and I believe that the current coach is breaking rules. The two transfers are really good players and always conducted themselves how they should, but I believe they were recruited to come to HF by the head coach. I believe other students were recruited to HF that didn't come with them. I believe that more students will be recruited by the coach to HF and eventually they will get HF in trouble. I know that you think your friend has a great coaching pedigree and reputation, but he is not Greg Wise and HF is not Yates. Eventually it will hit the fan. And I'll still be embarrassed of how HF is operating.
  11. More embarrassed than bitter. My school district hasn't always been the best athletically, but it's always been a good school district that did things right and we always put academics first. There has always been talent at HF, but we've missed on coaching hires basically since Jeff Keener. This latest hire is a miss too. Those transfers haven't always lived in HF and the new ones won't either and everyone knows it. I'd rather lose with our kids and coaches who do it right than openly break the rules and then brag about how great they are. Nobody is buying it. I'm old enough to know that winning isn't everything. It's not bravery to point out something is wrong. For what it's worth I've made my opinion known to the principal, AD, and superintendent at HF so I'm not hiding behind an anonymous message board.
  12. Haggerty at Crosby is the best player in the area next year. Unless he moves to Yates.
  13. Might be? What's he waiting on? Gotta get the name changed on those water bills for 3-4 months before they turn in the paperwork? The uproar to this year's recruits/transfers came after they already got them in. The new district committee won't be unprepared like the old one. The fact that the new transfer is already being discussed practically proves the move is for athletic purposes...I know, I know. Rules don't matter. Everyone does it. I'm a fool!
  14. Congratulations to Silsbee! You Tiger fans are awful spoiled to be nitpicking a team that is going to the regional tournament...again. Especially when you lost all those players the last several years. Great job Coach Sigler and staff, great job Braylon Bush, and great job to the role players who stepped up.
  15. They would not have been close to the playoffs. Good thing they got the next Doc Rivers to coach them up.
  16. Just because they got away with it does not mean it wasn't an athletic move. Earlier you talk about HJ needing to stop whining, get it in the gym, and get better. Advocating the addition of players via transfer doesn't support that statement. Which is it? Work hard and get better or change your personnel through "players recruiting players?"
  17. He's about as tied in with HF basketball as one can be. The season ended Friday and he knows about a new transfer coming in already. He's been working in it a while. Pretending he didn't know Matt Pace was at Lumberton is a smokescreen.
  18. It's like the only players you seen are from Beaumont, Lumberton, and HF (Beaumont). Interesting perspective.
  19. Best guards in the whole area would not have run from competition at United. They would have logged more minutes in the gym and grinded to get better. Am I right?
  20. Easy now, Tigee. Should have been focused on Booker T, but too busy telling people we're getting CE King gig. What's disgusting is your disregard for rules and lack of loyalty.
  21. As I understand it, all the transfers participated in summer practices last year. When Ardoin comes over, HF can start an entire group of transfers like a mini Yates! But... Tigee is working on getting the CE King job. Going to be a heckuva commute for him and the district's best backcourt from Bmt to East Houston. Nice knowing ya HF!
