Hey Toups, what's the latest on the Bronco highlight videos? I tried the KTRK site but the videos don't play right (all jumbled up).
-
Any updates from the 2nd half?
-
I said the same thing when they whooped us in Dayton a couple of weeks ago. If this FW team had Karum and that receiver from last year, they would be serious contenders. Again.
-
Who's quarterbacking for Nederland?
-
Anyone updating this game?
-
Fwood has some big boys.
you'll be surprised at how fast they are too!

Well FF, never cared much for gloaters (especially forum gloaters), but I do have to give credit where credit is due. I predicted a close game. But it really wasn't. Friendswood dominated most of the game. I was really impressed with the mustangs. I was also surprised by the team size and speed. Didn't really expect that. I thought the overall "team" effort was even better than last year. The Friendswood linebackers made the difference on defense. Monsters. The Friendswood Mustangs should do well in the post season...again.
Our Broncos, on the other hand, did not have a good game. There were definitely some bright spots and some good individual efforts to build on though. Nobody in Dayton is giving up, that's for sure. Pretty much the same story as last year, didn't look good in the Friendswood game and then went on to have a great year. I wish some of you Friendswood fans could have seen the Broncos later in the year (maybe some of you did) but it was definitely not the same team. Hopefully the Broncos can improve the same way this year. I'll be there even if they don't.

No long change for me yet, just the three day weekend, but I'll take it! Labor Day weekend has always been my favorite time of year. The end of a long hot summer and the start of another great Bronco football season. Gotta love it!
You guys don't worry too much about how your gonna eat your crow. The new freshman kicker is gonna come up big this weekend and keep your diets "feather free".

Status Quo,you let those FW posters convince you they're better, they have not played a real game this year and are coming to our house.I am telling you now along w/the naysayers that think Dayton can't put up the high scoring numbers like last year-give these guys a few games together in new positions.Ploch is right on target and pretty quick. If Dayton did not fumble or miss a perfect td pass in the red zone the score could have been 56 pts.easy last week. The new FW qb better bring some wheels as the purple wave is coming.#65 & #45 have been beasts thus far.
Sorry liltex, but your wrong. The FW posters have not convinced me of anything! The FW football team on the other hand, has shown me over the last three years that they are a very competitive, well coached group. By watching the games, not the FW fan posts, I have also learned that the type of offense they run gives Dayton's defense fits. Dayton has had trouble defending the pass for three years now. I don't think anyone can dispute that. Even a total HOMER!
If you read my post a little closer, you would understand that I was being fecisious. By predicting another FW victory I was predicting the Broncos to have success in the palyoffs again. Ha Ha Get it?
Does this mean I think the Broncos can't beat FW? Of course not. I will be right beside you, yelling louder than you, for my Broncos. And although it may be sound boring, it should be a close game.
But if you want the Homer post, how's this: 13 years ina row/playoffs.CoachStewart is the greatest thing-21347 yds/passing.Only 2t/ds allowed goBroncosno stoppingThem!!!

All I know is that both of the afore mentioned QB's were extreme bad_ _ _ es!! Don't know who is smarter than who (never talked to them) but they both put a whippin on my Broncos. Folks, over the last couple of years, we have had the pleasure of watching some of the best 4A quarterbacks this state has ever produced. Gilbert, Green, Karum, Rollison, along with a few other really good ones, WOW what a treat. We will all be talking about these kids for years to come. Let's not haggle over who was slightly better than who. Let's just enjoy watching them on Saturdays...for now.
I personally agree with some others here that say the LT teams (07 & 08) were unbeatable. In any classification. The SS offense was dynamic no doubt, but they were beatable. LT was not. I feel fortunate that I got to see them play. Following the Broncos all these years has rewarded me with some fantastic football over the last couple of years.
Which brings me back to the topic: Looking forward to another good game Friday night. Friendshood has definitely had our number the last few years, but it seems to have served us well. Always a strong team effort by the mustangs, not a lot of individual "stars" and I think that says a lot about the coaching staff. So in the interest of preserving our playoff run, publicly I'm saying another status quo contest. FW by 14. But privately I'm thinking the Broncos finally break the drought and win on a field goal! GO BRONCOS!!!

You would think Bay City w/14,000 folks and all the bussiness + a Nuke plant they would have better schools/stadium.Parking worst ever-2 handicap spots, got there @ 6:00 and totally blocked in by 100 cars. And thanks Soulja-Congrads to them Jags as well.
Being from Dayton, we don't have a lot of room to knock anyone else's visitor parking. Their visitor parking area was....strange. Ours is....nonexistent.
How bout dem BRONCOS! Good win last night against a much improved Bay City team. (IMO) Very large and gritty bunch of wildcats. That QB is gonna be a stud! Speaking of studs, great game Peyton Ploch!!! Bronco lineman dominated both sides of the ball. Bronco secondary, on the other hand, needs help. Their great against the run, tough and aggressive. Just can't seem to be in the right spot against the pass. Some good athletes back there though, They will get better every week. It's gonna be another great year!

When I played (way back when) this new fangled plastic super turf stuff was probably being developed in the lab somewhere. The natural "old school" in me prefers grass. But after watching countless games on turf over the last several years, I have to say, that the plastic and rubber chip fields don't seem to hamper the game in any way whatsoever.
I don't have any earthly idea about the injury numbers on either surface. The only thing I have noticed is that there doesn't seem to be nearly as many slips on turf. I mean hardly any slip downs at all! Again, don't know what that means injury wise, but in my opinion, it makes the game better. And prettier to look at! 8)

Looks like it's a 3 or 4 way toss up for district champ. I would be more interested in how the playoff brackets are gonna shape up. Div. I - Div. II etc.
That said though, I know there's still a lot of pride and bragging rights wars in the GT area, for district champs. Good luck to all the teams over there.
-
AHHHHH...the slight hint of fall in the air, the sound of the band, the drums, the smells of turkey legs, I can almost taste it now!!! Yes definitely let the STAMPEDE begin!!
How many of you guys are heading to Bay City? I sure wish we were opening at home with a 20-4A team. That would be fun. Gotta work on that schedule.
-
Deer Park Vs. Laporte has been a pretty good one over the years. I was unlucky enough to be on the field at halftime for a father/daughter dance a few years ago, when a couple of the visiting Laporte kids decided to break our drill team line just before we went on and "streak" the field. That's a memory that's unfortunately etched in my mind.

6 interceptions last season, 5 by Cody and 1 by Zach Crowder.
Team Fumbles/Lost
Bay City 2/1
Firendswood 4/2
GCM 2/1
NF 3/1
Crosby 0/0
BH 0/0
Galena Park 1/0
King 4/0
KP 2/2
Liv. 2/1
Elgin 1/1
Terry 2/2
Brenham 2/2
Tivy 5/1
SS 1/1
Total Fumbled 31 times and lost 15.
Thanks for the quick stat check. That's a lot more than I would have guessed! Still not too many though. I guess all the touchdowns make you forget the turnovers. 8)

You know, what really gets me is how competitive all the 20-4A teams have gotten. It used to be the same story year after year with the mid county teams always staying on top. I am really glad that now it is anyones game to take the district crown. It makes it that much more interesting because they are all pretty much on the same level, it just gives me goosebumps thinking about it. SETX HS football at it's best!
Yes 20-4A is very competitive and fairly evenly matched. Much more so than 19-4A, although that could changing also. The close district play is great and all, but what I would like to see more than that, is area teams going deep in the playoffs and competeing for a title consistantly. Dayton and Central had great runs last year, I hope some other SETX teams can keep it up this year. I'm growing weary of the north and northeast dominance! You can't tell me we don't have as much talent. What gives?

No doubt about the give-aways! I guess we got spoiled over the last couple of years on the turnovers. I have a hard time remembering a fumble or interception. Surely we had a few, but it wasn't many. Maybe liltex will give us the stat breakdown.
Pass coverage has to improve also. I'll consider it a success if Friendswood doesn't score on the flea-flicker bomb again this year!! Man-o-man. That would hurt.

Good point Payne. I was wondering if anyone else had that feeling as well. I saw flashes of some real athleticism in the scrimmages from several players. #7 Franks will obviously be a big threat. #22 Jakari Delasbor (spelling?) has gotten bigger, stronger and faster. He will definitely be a force to be reckoned with. He didn't get that many attempts, but #5 Baldwin showed some real speed out of the backfield.
One of the more curious additions to the offense, to me, was the senior #24 Hines to wide receiver. Last year he was used exclusively on defense. He's built like a linebacker! I hear he squats a ton and is really fast. Guess we'll see how that works out.
But yea I agree, this offense does have a heck alot of potential. Just hope they get in stride before too many games pass.
