100%. No team can win without the players.

"Great" for a freshman.
-
When the coaching staff was meeting at the beginning of the season and contemplating expectations for the team with a freshman QB, they were not thinking "9 wins and 2nd round" and neither would any coach in Texas. They most certainly were not thinking "we can win 5 games with our backup LG at QB". In fact., if someone told them "you will win 9 games with a freshman QB" they would have likely went and had a party.
-
"Daddy ball" dont put up the numbers that the Barrier kid put up. EVERY coach that reads this fully understands what the kid has done and that he is a great player.
-
Understood. So, you named "1" example? Also, "in that district" a backup LG could not win 5 games at QB. You have no idea what you are talking about and have clearly never coached at any level.
-
If they have one just as good, I would put them back at the top. I have heard they have a good group coming up.
-
I have watched several Franklin games from last year. Do you know which players are going to be back?
-
Everyone has been saying he is leaving depending on where his dad goes.
-
I probably need to change my prediction for District 10 since Anahuac is likely not going to have their QB. Top 3 changed to: 1. EC 2. OF 3. Anahuac The rest stay the same.
-
It is highly uncommon for a freshman to start at QB at any level. It is also uncommon for freshman to start on varsity as freshman in other positions. You should do a roster check and see what the percentage of "freshman starting and winning on varsity" is for the area. I suspect it be in the range of 3-6% at 3A and close to zero in 4A. If you believe a "backup left guard" can play QB and go .500, you have revealed your own ignorance regarding football. We can let everyone else read your comments and draw their own conclusions.
-
He had 9 "signature wins" last year because he was a freshman starting on varsity. Winning 9 games with a freshman QB is impressive (with no qualifiers). I doubt if anyone of the teams he played against had a "freshman QB". Name all of the freshman QBs that have won more than 9 games as a starter. I suspect he will be a starter at whatever school he lands at and it will not matter what classification.
-
Or what is most likely, he will be great anywhere he plays. All of that rhetoric about "what he did" or "didnt do" was done by a "Freshman on varsity". For a freshman to perform at that rate on varsity at any level is exceedingly impressive. He is a "player" and will only get better as he matures. Wherever he lands will be set at QB including 1A-6A.

In an effort to get some discussion going again, here is what I got for 2023 3AD1 predictions: District 9 1. Coldspring 2. Westwood 3. Diboll 4. Woodville 5. Shepherd 6. Crockett 7. Huntington District 10 1. Anahuac 2. East Chambers 3. Orangefield 4. Buna 5. Kirbyville 6. Hardin 7. Tarkington
-
Yep, could end up with Trinity going into 9 and possibly Tarkington if they were to stay down.
-
Understood. A scenario could go like this: OC- Can I bring my own playbook? HC- Yes, as long as your play book is what I want to run.
-
"Calling plays" and "bringing your own playbook" are drastically different. I indicated that the instances where it happens are when the new OC is bringing a skillset that correlates to the progression of what they "are doing" or "want to do". I have seen some cases of defensive minded HC that wants to focus primarily on defense without sinking too far into the offense and as a result gives the OC more latitude. Even in that case the HC will select an OC that runs the offense that fits what he wants for the team. The more common scenario is the OC calls the plays within the offense that the HC chooses.
-
Have not heard of many HFC/AD letting an OC bring their own playbook unless it continues a progression of what they "are doing" or "want to do". Not being able to bring your own playbook does not equate to "glorified assistant".

No chance LCM drops.

No doubt.

I cant open the TEA page with my rural internet. It was well over the last cut off. Cant remember exactly what it was. You could check the link on the 1st page of this thread.

Those schools look like they will stay the same. However, as mentioned previously I think Splendora will move up and could join PNG and Nederland. As a note: I could be wrong about all of this. I have no inside knowledge, just my review of enrollments compared with the current cut off numbers.
-
Do you not know someone close to Coldspring? If so, you should understand what they have at the skill positions, and what they will have on the OL/DL this year. They generally compete for the district championship on a regular basis and have consistently with the current coaching regime. Not sure why anyone would think they would "not make the playoffs"?
-
I never said that "Coldspring would win state" but I did say "they would be much improved and could be a potential force in the region". I will say with some degree of confidence that Coldspring will make the playoffs. Too much firepower and too much talent. I made a similar preseason call on Dayton last year after they won only 2 games in the previous 2 years and had just as many (probably more) naysayers. **Make sure you jump on the bandwagon when the Trojans get hot.
-
Looks like Trinity may replace them in the district.

One thing for certain on SETX is that whichever team loses, believes the winning team fans/players/coaches were "terrible" or "classless".
