  1. You never know. If Tarkington were to get some momentum, the destiny can change. It will take a little time and a strategic plan. Hopefully the community will support the new coach and give him the time and flexibility to implement his plan.
  2. Quite possible. I hope they get to stay in 3AD1 given all of the turnover lately. Would be a tall order for the new regime to have to deal with 4AD2 out of the gate in current circumstances.
  3. Based on that, it looks like West Fork may start out as a 4AD1 and jump to 5AD2 next round when they have a full school.
  4. Never said Tarkington would be over 600 kids. Shepherd is the one that will be over 600. If the cut off went to 570 that would likely save Tarkington. My initial projections were based upon existing cut off numbers.
  5. That would keep them in the same district. Their enrollment 8-11 is 441,
  6. Would need to know what middle schools feed into the high school. They had 363 in the 9th grade.
  7. Coaches do develop relationships with the college ranks. Coaches also lobby on behalf of the players so long as the player has no character deficiency that would make the coach look bad. If a player is not getting recruited is usually because the player's behavior is not worth the risk to the coach. As stated previously, the coaches see the kids everyday and in many cases, spend more time with the players than the parents do. I wish I had a nickel for every player that could have played college ball but acted the fool at school and practice and as a result went nowhere. Meanwhile, the parents and community could not understand why the player "did not get support from the coaches" or "why he was not recruited".
  8. Yep, that was the cut numbers that I based my projections. To me, the real question is what 4AD2 will look like. The addition of OF, Shepherd and Tarkington mess up the 4AD2 numbers for the region. Rusk, Center, Carthage are the only ones close that can fill out a district. Suppose they could add Madisonville again. I know Center would like to split from Carthage.
  9. A coach/father's first duty is to his family. It is likely that he could find a situation where he can combine the two objectives if he does his homework. If the father/coach were to seek the "absolute best" opportunity for his son and it did not happen to be his first choice for himself, it would certainly be noble and valid to put his son first and then seek his best place at a later date. It would not be uncommon for him to be able to accomplish both objectives in one shot.
  10. Shepherd is over 600 8th-11. OF and Tarkington well past the cut
  11. That is the number right now. 631 kids in 10th will be tough to overcome.
  12. Also looks like Splendora will go up to 5AD2.
  13. You could be right. However, the numbers look correct for the other districts. Sort it by "district" and "grade". [Hidden Content]
  14. Looks like Bridge City will move up which could keep Jasper in District 9 but I think it would be more likely that 9 turns into a 6 team district so they will be able to create a functional district to the North/NW with Shepherd and Tarkington.
  15. Looks like PAM is currently 273 over the cut at 2198, 8th-11. 631 kids in 10th grade is blowing it up.
  16. Quick glance at TEA numbers (based on the last cut offs) show Orangefield, Tarkington and Shepherd going up to 4AD2. Warren and Trinity going up to 3AD1. Seems like this would likely pull Woodville and Warren back into 3A1-10. Trinity into 3A1-9. Orangefield into 4A2-9, possibly pushing Jasper back North with something like Shepherd, Tarkington, Rusk, Center, Carthage, Jasper. thoughts?
  17. All of said parents definitely would express a similar sentiment. What 100% of coaches know is that parents are generally misinformed about their kids work habits and behavior when they are at school and practice. There are not many coaches who are not interested in winning and take enjoyment from "playing favorites" while "losing". Coaches also know that it takes kids to have a winning program and you can ill-afford to run kids off. However, they also know that you cannot win with counterproductive behavior in the program as well. I dont think I have ever seen one of the parents of the behavior problem kids believe anything other than their kid was mistreated, their kid deserves to play or the coaches dont know what they are doing. In life it is generally safe to assume that the person doing something for a living, does indeed actually know a little more than those who do not.
  18. Probably a good example of why the previous coaches left despite the success.
  19. Yep, "MS coaches only let certain kids tryout for certain positions" and kids get "discouraged" because they and their parents know more than the coaches who are hired/managed by the AD/HFC who also doesnt know anything because he actually runs the MS program. MS coaches operating on behalf of the AD/HFC "do not regard skills" but instead look for "height".
  20. Maybe Colmesneil is loaded with athletes coming up? About to steamroll the Region to the extent that the Four Horsemen from HD would be envious.
  21. LOL. Didnt you say that Crosby hired a 60 year old coach? What is the specific age when coaches forget how to coach? Can they coach if they are 40? 45? Where is the cut? I am assuming that it is at least "50" since you found out the coach was not "60".
  22. Dont know his name but he was impressive. One of the best ones there.
  23. Nederland definitely have a DL that is a player. Seen him at the ASU camp. He should be good to anchor the DL.
  24. OF sounds like a very respectful team. What did the CH players/folks "say"? Taunting happens pretty regularly in sports.
  25. I am aware of that. Well acquainted with each team. OF beat both Carthage and SH during the same timeframe. Means absolutely nothing when games are serious. CH is a deeper and more complete team than Carthage or SH.
