BREAKING NEWS: LC-M @ WO-S, Sat 6:30 p.m.

what do you mean two-sided? all i'm saying is that i'm proud of the kids who wanted to play so badly and were willing to stand up for that. i'm proud of the coach for admitting he was wrong taking the bullet by rescheduling the game. i'm also proud of the fans what kept a level head. my point is i'm glad this situation worked out for the the best and that we get to see the game. that's kinda one-sided... -

haha woah that wasn't me who said that. i got off on like page 3 and got back on at page 7 or so and decided it had gotten ridiculous lol. it was obviously someone else who said that. i wanted to see it played just as much as anyone, i just thought the criticism was getting out of hand. -

well of course i credit this to the kids. i work with a guy whos son is a senior on that team and they simply told moody that they'd play the game regardless of circumstances. i just meant it takes alot to admit you were wrong, and to do so in front of a community who doesn't think much of you. it would have been easier to ignore the kids and get ready for BC. i'm just saying i'm glad that situation worked out they way it did and that it's nice to see people work out a solution. but look at the big picture: the kids showed us they wanted to play, the coach listened, we get to see a game, and everyone is happy. i think that's a testament to everyone involved. either way, i'm just glad i get to see the game and i'll be there to support the Bears. -

yeah, enough players said they'd play without the whole team or adequate practice. he said as long as the kids were willing to play, he'd let them play the game. they're starting practice today, i'm not sure which players will be there though. props though, for being willing to listen to the kids, esp the seniors. i hope this year's game is as good as last year's and best of luck to both teams. -
How is BOJO looking for the 2008 season ?

Either way, we can agree that LCM's troubles transcend coaching. We've always been pretty mediocre. But it seems to me that in all this Moody-bashing, nobody seems to have a solution. How can we go about competing in the 10 (now 9) games set out for us in 2008? That's what the kids need to ask themselves. It shouln't be about how they're going to quit next week because they don't like their position or they feel as if they don't get the ball enough. The bottom line is that you get 2 (3 if you're lucky) years to play high school football, and after that you're done. It saddens me to see kids throw that chance away because they disagree with the coach. When I played, we didn't throw a fit when coach told us to go harder, tackle better, or shut up. We said "yes sir" and complied. The rest took care of itself. What I've seen is about 8 or 10 of the guys on the field busting their asses to win games, and one or two playing like they just wanted to get out of there. That's the reason we saw the Bears lose by one or two TD's most of the time last year. -
i don't know why, but THEY somehow agreed that the game isn't happening. if hooks wanted to play, he could refuse to agree to cancel the game. in that case, LCM would either forfeit or play. neither of those 2 things are happening, therefore a cancellation was declared by BOTH coaches. a whole bunch of teams cancelled their games scheduled for this week, i know central and westbrook did as well as many others. i mean for the game to be played they have to coordinate things with the officials, band, drill team, cheerleaders, volunteers, etc. it's just alot to do when people are going through the ordeal of moving back into their houses or having trouble getting home. we'd all love to see the game played, and i know coach moody wants to play it, otherwise he wouldn't schedule it. it's just not going to happen. I think it also says unless it is a weather related incident, then one coach can cancel well i don't know if it says that. but as of now, it's not a weather-related problem. i mean the weather itself is acceptable.

Actually, David Williams was only the head coach for about 5 or 6 years. He worked for LCM for over 20 years as an assistant under Russell, Gamble, and Williams. -
Under UIL rules, in order for a scheduled game to be cancelled, both teams must agree to the cancellation. if only one agrees and the other wants to play, the game is reported as a "forfeit" by the team who backed out. the score is reported as a 1-0 loss on their record. those are the rules. apparently, coach hooks agreed on the cancellation, because if he wanted to play that bad, he wouldn't have agreed to cancel and the result would be "forfeit, WOS:1 LCM: 0" obviously, this didn't happen as the game is marked as "cancelled"

I've lived in the Little Cypress community for nearly 20 years and it seems like the only thing people can say about Bear football is that they can't win and their coach is the biggest idiot to ever set foot on the gridiron. If LCM wants to win, they've got to stop pointing fingers, making excuses, fighting against their teammates, quitting the team, talking back to coaches, being lazy, and expecting to lose. One of my coworkers has a son who plays for LCM and feels that Moody has treated his son well over the last few years. Though this isn't true in every case, I'll venture to say that the majority of the problems there stem from people being selfish and lazy. It's become a cruel cycle in which a new coach moves in, problems arise, people get angry, players quit, the bears lose, "that idiot we hired" gets the boot, and the process starts all over again. I know alot of you young men who play at Little Cypress read these things, and after a while you begin to believe the negative hype and the unfounded generalizations. All I can say to you is this: play your heart out every chance you get. Don't worry about all this political mess surrounding the program. Practice hard, come ready to play, and do whatever it takes to win. Just because you don't like Moody doesn't mean his little talks about effort, pride, and the will to win are bullshit. That alone could have turned last year's avalanche of disappointment into a respectable year. But for now, I'm going to keep attending the games on Friday nights. I'm going to keep supporting the Bears. The solution to these problems isn't to point blame and fight against ourselves, but rather to be united as a community and as a school working toward a common goal. As cheesy and obnoxious as BOJO sounds, I have to respect the purpose and reasoning behind it. Plus it's a catchy little phrase... Get it done boys.
