  1. OF bobcats are preseason favorites to win district. Woodville eagles are supposed to fall off the map after changes in coaching staff and supposedly going 0-2 in scrimmages. Any thoughts on this match up?
  2. Defense is a issue as I mentioned earlier but it's mostly not having the right guys out there together. Need to rotate A. Sibilly, Davion Hill, and Nas Harris at the edge spots on the Dline. Need to rotate D.Barlow, C. Mayo, T. Haight, and possibly Nas Harris at the 2 DT spots. Need to rotate A. Esway, M. Menefee, K.Rigsby, A. Williams, and A. Sibilly at the 4 LB/SS spots. Look like we had the right DBs out there although they made costly mistakes that they need to clean up. I'm thinking the coaching staff was using the scrimmages to evaluate so hopefully they have it figured out. If we put the right guys out there we will have a good defense that will get better throughout the year
  3. Nothings automatic but we didn't have 3 all staters at the beginning of last year either. We got ballers trust me. Sky's the limit. One game at a time though
  4. I'm guessing you didn't see when Woodville's 1s had there first 10 or 15 snaps at the start of the scrimmage before Livingston's 1s had there first possession. Cause they definitely moved the ball every possession and were the first to cross the goal line. Would have turned around and did it going the other direction if they hadn't run out of snaps. That's the only thing that really ended any of the drives was the limited snaps in the scrimmage format
  5. Woodville ones and 2s both moved the ball the entire scrimmage from the begging. Livingston ones had a couple big plays resulting in back to back scores on the 4th and 5th plays of their first possession. That doesn't happen in the natural flow of a real game because when you score you kick off to the other team (or attempt a onside) and you have to try and stop them. They never stopped Woodville's offense. They scored again on the 10th play of that same possession against Woodville's 2s and never moved the ball much after that
  6. There's less depth up front. Still got plenty skill players.
  7. Woodville 1st and second team offense moved the ball pretty consistently all during the scrimmage. Main concern is it looks like they don't have the defensive lineup figured out. First and second team defense was swapping out pretty rapidly so maybe they were evaluating and hopefully they have it figured out now. There were probably at least 2 DLine guys practicing with 2nd team that should have been with first team. I also think we need K. Rigsby playing a significant amount of snaps at OLB/MLB and D. Barlow playing around half the snaps at DT. Due to the situation with our defense I really thought Livingston should have scored more than that. They had 5 or 6 big plays scoring on 3 of them and didn't move the ball much other than that.
  8. Kudos to whatever your trying to say.
  9. It wouldn't matter unless there was an actual game between the 2. Buna supposedly beat Newton in a scrimmage last year according to some posters but only loonies would think Buna would've beaten them in a game.
  10. Folks got a lot to say based off what they heard about a scrimmage. It's wild to me considering the fact that I know what this group is capable of based on what I've seen them do on all levels the last few years. But yall carry on
  11. Got 6 "games" before Newton. And you'll probably be silent and find something else to talk about during those 6 "games".
  12. Yea if you can't make the difference between a scrimmage and a game. Pretty sure Woodville would beat Crockett in a actual game. Newton is a different ball game but we'll figure that out as the season moves along
  13. First scrimmage under new coaching staff and a different system against what seems to be an improved Crockett team who's always had talent anyway. Definitely need to fix things but no real shocker here. It's what scrimmages are for. New coach is still learning the personel and players still learning to execute in the new system. We get a couple "games" deep and we're still struggling we'll hit the panic button then
  14. I'll see if I can catch him in action
  15. Sounds bout right. Probably has to take a lot of plays off
  16. I wonder if he's any good. At 6'5, I'd say above 330 would probably be a bit too much in my opinion
  17. They almost won 7on7 last year also. Doesn't necessarily mean they're going to be unbeatable.
  18. That's your opinion and it almost makes sense but your probably wrong again. #2 was the house and he's gone. Good bit of the exterior of the front 7 is gone.
  19. Newton returns the whole defense. We'll have a whole fresh set on the OLine. That'll probably be a tough match up.
  20. I don't think we'll lose any preseason games honestly. Coach Rob was like 32-42 or something which is a little better but would still not look like a great hire to me if our program was where it is now back then. Our program wasn't all that good back then and the previous candidate had changed his mind and took another job so we had to take what we could get. Just happened to work out well.
  21. Probably not but there are some other teams that might surprise. Trinity being the main one I'd keep my eye on
  22. I like our chances to finish top 2 in district possibly challenging Newton for the DC and probably getting a rematch against Newton in the Region 3 championship. I think whoever wins region 3 has a good chance to win it all but I got Newton as the favorite in region 3 right now
  23. Woodville Eagles are heading into 2025 with a new HC after losing coach Rob who's been the most successful coach we've had. He's been replaced with coach Heath Clawson. Coach Clawson's head coaching career hasn't been super impressive but he's had a couple good years as an assistant at Aledo and I think he has some ideas that may work pretty well for Woodville. Clawson hired coach Clay Mayo as OC for 2025. Coach Mayo's resume doesn't look that great other than a year or 2 at Summer Creek but his son will be a good sized sophomore who might be able to help us out up front. Clawson also landed legendary coach Bill Hoppers as the 2025 DC for the Woodville Eagles. Hoppers has around 60 years coaching experience. Had a ton of winning seasons at A&M Consolidated and Navasota. Also has 6 state championship appearances and 3 rings. Would have loved to have him 10 or 15 years ago when he might have had more energy to put into it but we'll take him now as well. Woodville retained 2 or 3 assistants from last year's staff and hired a couple new young coaches I feel pretty good about as well. Woodville players and coaching staff are ready to roll for 2025. Go Eagles! 🦅
