  1. The Newton team in 2018 was awesome although they underperformed a little during the SC in my opinion. But they still went undefeated and won the SC. How can you blame the Newton folks for wishful thinking? Some believe it might have been a good game and I dont think that’s too far fetched. I personally think Newton may have lost by 3 or 4 scores which is not close but respectable. You think they would have been “beaten till there was blood in their purple socks”. I don’t know what you mean by that but it seems like a LOT OF HATE to me lol
  2. I don’t pay much attention to D2 college ball because in most cases D2 players are there because they’re not good enough to play D1. In high school a small school athlete is there because that where his family thought best to live. Has nothing to do with their ability. At really good small school like Newton there are usually a couple athletes that would be really good at a bigger school also. Now there are normally more of those at big schools but that’s a no brainer. If a school has twice the students they’ll probably have twice the athletes. The small school has half as many athletes so they have to have more guys playing multiple positions and more underclassmen filling some of the positions. Doesn’t necessarily mean there’s a lower quality of athletes but definitely a lower quantity. Bigger schools should normally beat smaller schools for that reason. Newton is normally dominant against schools their size when the playing field is even. Their SC shouldn’t have any less meaning than WOS who normally dominates against schools their size. If we’re going to knock either team because of their classification then Westbrook will probably be the closest thing to a powerhouse in SETX
  3. That 14 year they lost to Newton while beating a decent 5A team and going verry deep in the playoffs. That in itself shows you Newton’s classification doesn’t have as much to do with their success as a hater would attempt to make it seem
  4. By the logic you were using earlier Newton or WOS wouldn’t have as much success on the 6A level so all their accomplishments don’t count. They’re “WNBA Champions” lol
  5. It’s my opinion that Newton is the better program. I don’t have a problem with you believing WOS having the better program. I do have a problem with you underminding the success of Newton’s program because of their classification. If we go by that then West Brook is the biggest powerhouse and I don’t think most would agree with that
  6. The fact that they can loose to a bunch of 4A teams (during their worst season the past 5 years) 2 of them being very close losses then still go undefeated in district and exit the playoffs in the 3rd round says a lot about their program. 4A schools are supposed to beat 3A schools. But most times that isn’t the case when it comes to Newton.
  7. Mayweather faced everyone. He can’t controll the timing of the fights or catch every fighter in their prime because he can’t face em all at once. He stayed in his prime throughout his career the same way Newton has. They’re verry good in whatever classification they’re in each year. Some years they are able to beat some of the best teams at the next level up. On their worst years they’re still able to beat average teams at the next level up. But “everybody knows” a haters gonna hate lol
  8. Floyd Mayweather was the Welterweight champ not too long ago. Does anybody know who the heavyweight champ was during that time? And there were plenty heavyweights who probably would have KOed him but they didn’t get the same recognition because their greatness didn’t matchup pound for pound.
  9. I don’t think you realize the facts you stated are actually what makes Newton a powerhouse. No other school only enrolling 3 or 400 students a year is producing half the athletes Newton is. And Newton could probably still beat BC on a bad year. And probably win some of the 4A districts on a bad year
  10. I’m pretty sure the Yates coach scheduled those games because he was confident in his teams ability to play somewhere close to that level. Coaches don’t normally schedule teams they don’t think they can compete with. And those elite teams don’t normally want to play anyone who’s not going to challenge them. Either way I don’t care who teams chose to play in preseason. I do care who teams are forced to have to compete with during district and the playoffs.
  11. If they’re going to continue popping up with multiple 6’8 senior “move ins” each year they should probably compete against those schools all season. Preseason, district, and post season.
  12. Not saying WOS problem was the coach because I didn’t see them play this year although I do know they normally have good athletes. Yea bad shots can take you out of a game but lack of confidence and being too stiff will take you out quicker. You don’t fix bad shot selection by threatening to yank players in my opinion.
  13. I personally don’t think strict limitations on players is a good style of coaching. Limitations are sometimes needed but too many limitations is a good way to have a talented team underachieve. They will never be able to perform freely if they’re worried about being yanked. Gotta let the dogs loose and not try n tame them
  14. Both. Mainly Shallowater is just that good though. No scrubs left at this point in the season so it’s impressive to beat anyone like that in the State Tournament
  15. He can be really good if he’s developed properly. Got a few in junior high that might be pretty good also
  16. Nah they’re decent. I got it right lol. Now their offense is no joke
  17. Both are decent on both ends of the floor. Coldspring Is one of the best on offense. Crockett is one of the best on defense. I believe in the old concept “defense wins championships” which is why I’m going with Crockett
  18. Way to go Woodville! Looks like your well prepared for a tough matchup with Shallowater
  19. Should be a good one. I got Crockett by 2 but seems like Coldspring might be playing with a point to prove so they may prove me wrong. Good luck to both teams
  20. Those are good teams but neither are top 25 in state except maybe Crosby to my knowledge. United is top 10 in 6A this year. The biggest challenge to United in 5A region 3 would probably be PA Memorial depending on what they got coming back. If they make it to state they may have to deal with Lancaster.
  21. Yates would still be a dominant school on either level. Would they win state? Probably not. 6A has Duncanville and 5A has Lancaster. Both are top 25 in the nation. Yates hasn’t proved they can play at that level. They’d probably still win district and maybe make the regional tournament though
  22. Seems like they should still be really strong with those 3. Mr buddy’s probably correct. And with their coach I’d probably add a State Championship to his statement. Never know though. I don’t know what type of teams other 5A schools will be bringing back
