  1. Yes private schools or schools who compete against other schools allowed to recruit should be allowed to recruit. And being that he got all those transfers and still isn’t even in position to make the playoffs at this point he hasn’t done a great job COACHING in my opinion. Good recruiter though
  2. And your right the UIL cleared the kids so I guess that’s that. I have no problem with the kids by the way. I am happy for them. I know it’s hard to get playing time on a team at one of those bigger schools. The coaches have a tough job choosing from all the talent they have available at those schools and sometimes they miss out on a “diamond in the rough”. I’m happy The the kids get to pursue their hoop dreams. I just think the coach is getting to much credit for being a great coach when he’s really a good recruiter. And I don’t think public schools are the place for recruiting athletes
  3. It’s not automatically ok if they have family ties. I don’t live in either of these communities and I don’t know the details of what goes on in these situations. I’m just looking in from the outside and revealing how it looks from my angle. It’s more believable that there was no foul play if there are family ties. When 4 kids transfer to the same school, neither of them are related to my knowledge, neither of them have previous ties to the community to my knowledge. The only thing they have in common is they’re all decent b-ball players and they all have a relationship with the new coach in this community that was never known for b-ball. Seems like they were recruited by the new coach for basketball. Not saying that can’t be the case for other situations in other communities but if that is the case in those situations it’s just less obvious
  4. I wasn’t aware that ever happened at Silsbee or HJ. I do have an idea about EC. They had 2 or 3 transfers last year and I believe they were all related and their family had ties to EC. That doesn’t stick out as recruitment to me. Just seems like EC benefited from legitimate transfers. Those things happen sometimes especially at schools that have a winning traditions
  5. Every school has transfers once in a while and of course a lot of schools benefit from transfers. But there’s a difference between benefitting from transfers and actively recruiting transfers. I could be wrong but I’m not aware of any other schools in the area who have had 4 transfers in the same year. If you know any then enlighten me.
  6. I have no problem with kids transferring. Even if it’s just for athletic reasons that’s their business in my opinion long as they are approved by the UIL. I have a problem with coaches RECRUITING. I find it hard to believe that 3 or 4 talented basketball kids decided to move to HF the same year on their own. If this type of thing gets out of hand it’s not only unfair to opponents to basically have to compete against “select teams”. It’s unfair to hometown kids who don’t get to rep their community because the coach has recruited a roster full of selects
  7. That’s more reasonable. Still questionable though
  8. Nobody has scored more than 71 this year vs HJ. Not saying Silsbee isn’t good enough offensively to score 84 but I doubt it.
  9. I don’t mind transfers. I just don’t like recruiting. Save that for the next level. If your coaching high school just coach what you have to the best of your abilities
  10. 3 starters is a lot. Sounds like a better job recruiting than coaching to me
  11. I hope that’s not the case
  12. Exactly how many moved in and how many of those are starting?
  13. Your blind obviously
  14. Bruh the fact that Vidor beat HF in a preseason game around Thanksgiving means NOTHING.
  15. A lot of coaches are good with Xs and Os. All of them should be in my opinion but sadly some aren’t. But the kids don’t care how much you know they care how much you care. And it’s easier to reach kids when they know you care. That’s what makes great coaches
  16. Idk HF played HJ close last game. And that lost may be just what Silsbee needed to play more inspired and step it up a notch
  17. Didnt expect this one
  18. Woodville 78 Corrigan 66
  19. Tough. First road win wins district I guess lol
  20. Does anyone have any road wins in this district?
  21. I really think they will be more prepared for the early rounds of the playoffs now. I could see a premature exit before this game but now I feel they may be aware of how much shorter the gap is between them and lesser teams than previous years and may be more focused all four quarters to make sure they beat the teams they’re supposed to beat.
  22. Good game. Congrats HF. And Silsbee will likely be just fine. Lesson learned from a tough, well coached, much improved team
  23. I agree but I do think they would have a slight chance against SA. SA would still be the favorite though. Any of the others...no chance
  24. That won’t help if they keep “beating themselves” every time they play Crockett lol. But we will see
