  1. A nice topic by Greg Tepper, However I just don’t see the talent level at Nederland being good enough to win this year, maybe next year when you have a decent senior class and hopefully some talented juniors, with a few sophomores in the mix
  2. As expected, Dave Campbell’s magazine has the Bulldogs finishing 6 of 8 in the district Looking at all teams in the district and their returning starters and top prospects listed, unfortunately it appears to be another dismal season for the Bulldogs
  3. Haven’t gotten Dave Campbell’s magazine what is the district picks for 5A D2 PNG ‘s district? Anyone seen it my quest is FBM, PNG, TC, Dayton, SF, Nederland, GP, Willowridge
  4. I think the juniors will be much improved from last season, however there is only a handful of talented juniors. The senior class is few and not very talented, so we will have to see how many sophomores are good enough to play at the varsity level for the Bulldogs to improve from a dismal last season. I think they will be better, but will they be good enough to go 5-5
  5. PAM will be good. They have a lot of talent, but as usual they are overrated Will possibly make it to 3rd round and be done
  6. Cornel and Eddie Dyer are 2 outstanding coaches and good men
  7. Certainly glad to see a chip on their shoulders After all, they were about as bad as you can get last season I hear not many seniors and don’t know how many SOPHS will be ready for varsity level football Junior class is where we have a handful of talented players We already know that there will be at least 5 losses; Dayton, FBM, PAM, PNG, and TC The games against WOS, Silsbee, and SF will determine whether they finish 2-8 to possibly 5-5. will either be 2-5 or 3-4 in district
  8. They elected to keep the coaching staff intact, so look for the same results as the past two seasons
  9. Glad that he went to a camp and hope he has improved tremendously My concern is did the Bulldogs find a QB coach that can improve the QB’s on the roster
  10. Yes, they certainly needed to start early. You must remember to win, you have to have a combination of talent and good coaching. As of today, the Bulldogs are lacking in these 2 categories Yes I believe they will be improved, but how much? They have major concerns at LB’er and secondary on defense. The offense has to develop a QB, find some receivers, and the OL must improve a bunch. The special teams may have been the weakest of the 3 last season The senior class is pretty weak, however there are a handful of juniors that should be much improved. I don’t know how many sophomores will be capable of varsity level competition The non district results will tell us whether they wind up 2-8 are 5-5
  11. Anahuac, East Chambers, and Orangefield all have good coaching staffs, I am picking OF because Smalley seems to find a way to do it
  12. Anahuac, East Chambers, Orangefield, Buna top 4 I look for Orangefield to win district
  13. Yes the D line and LB’ers were very good. Played their tails off in State game. IMO, Indians would have won that game if the secondary would have played well
  14. IMO it is a similar situation to Nederland. A combination of not being that good and the coaching
  15. IMO Dak is one of the most overrated and over paid QB’s in the NFL Correct me if I am wrong but I don’t think they make it to the Super Bowl.
  16. I again agree with the majority of your post. The only disagreement is that all coaches do not know what they are doing. Most do and we will see if the Dogs fair better this season However do not be surprised if they are anywhere from 2-8 to 5-5. 5-5 would be a big improvement
  17. Make sure you put IMO, even though some of your thoughts are correct, not all are, and I am certainly not going into a song and dance on what drills need to be done to improve a QB
  18. Yes and that training could be like an A&M camp where you spend a lot of money and there are about 300 participants, with about 70 at QB and some can’t even get a rep in a 5 minute segment. Then the coaches attention is on the few that have good skills and the others don’t get much attentionI have not been to it, so I couldn’t tell you what they do
  19. Did you watch the PNG game. The only reason it was close was because of weather conditions There were several PNG fumbled snaps due to the weather conditions yes they were playing on the same field in the same conditions, however PNG moved the ball up and down the field and the Dogs did not. But yes it was close
  20. I am sure the coaches did drills. I could not tell you what drills they Drills should have involved footwork, handoffs, fakes, reading the defensive front and secondary coverage, throwing accuracy, etc. Also the mental part of the game The QB coach may have done these things , however he did not do a good job at these or the QB’s would have improved during the season. I would say about 95% of HS athletes improve as the season progresses. IMO these QB’s did not improve from day#1 until the season ended. A big part of that would be that they are in the wrong position, however a big part is that they were not taught very well IMO, when you have the same similar talent as PNG, but in the majority of your games, you played about as poorly as an HISD school, then it is poor coaching
  21. Observing all games, you could certainly tell that they had trouble reading the secondary coverage, they forced way too many passes, had many overthrows, and just about lead the state in throwing interceptions That is due to not doing a very good job of teaching QB fundamentals If you watched the majority of their games, you would have noticed that for the most part, they played like an HISD school I would say the reasons were very little talent and poor coaching
  22. The 3 QB’s the last 2 years May have been the best they had. If that is the case then they didn’t have any good ones at that position and the coaching has been poor
  23. So has Barrow coached the QB’s the last 2 seasons or someone else. Whoever has coached them has done a miserable job, because the QB’s the last 2 seasons have been about as bad as you can get. They be good players at other positions but they are not QB material
  24. Yes the Bulldogs have had some good QB’s over the years. Two others come to mind Steve Stuart and Don Clayton The problem is the QB’s the past 2 seasons have not been good. They may be good at other positions, but they are not QB’s. They are also not being taught good mechanics, which leads be to believe the QB coach is not teaching these players very well. Their throwing mechanics are extremely weak
  25. If you are going to get a good QB, you better find a coach that knows how to coach them I think the past 2 seasons, they were pretty close to throwing more interceptions than nearly every team in the state
