If you like watching poor softball play, then you need to watch Lamar. Since they fired Bruder, the program has gotten worse each season. 3-12 as of today and 21-101 the past 2 seasons and the first 15 games this season!
-
Very nice start of season for Cards. Looks like they are playing up to opponent’s level. Excellent wins vs SEC and Big 12 opponents and 3 close wins vs an average Oakland team. 5-0, hope they keep it up
-
Wow what a win. Is that a 1st vs A&M. 4-0 wow
-
Yes A&M, LSU, TCU, Missou good teams. U of H and Rice decent. The others average or not too good. Hopefully the record will be good after non conference to get them ready for conference I will give Davis credit for playing better teams than any other sport at Lamar
-
Very good start vs an opponent that is average. Hopefully a nice non conference record this season since they don’t play too many good teams in non conference
-
The latest vs UTSA. Lamar blows a 12-7 lead in the bottom of 7th. How long are they going to continue with Hooks. They are now 12-89 the last 2 seasons and their now 1-8 at the start of this season. I don’t think you can get much worse than this!
-
Well I believe the majority of people have discovered that Hooks can’t get the job done. I guess it is a combination of not recruiting well and the entire coaching staff Maybe they can win 6 or 7 games this season. Lamar messed up getting rid of Bruder, Harmony, and Price. At least their teams competed. The coach that is still there that has not done anything is Davis

District favorites for 2023 (any District)?
spidersal replied to lcm93's topic in High School Football
Who is Nederland going to beat in district? I don’t think it will be Marshall, Dayton, PNG, or TC From what I saw, they will have to come a million miles from last year. I saw a little talent out of the sophomore class, but the coaching staff is not very good. Hopefully they can improve and come in 5th -
Oh wow so they finally beat a D1 even though a very weak one still looks like they will finish conference play in last place

Port Neches-Groves vs South Oak Cliff - LIVE GAME UPDATES
spidersal replied to WOSdrummer99's topic in High School Football
A tremendous run by the Indians. Defense was tremendous (except for secondary)Think about the outcome. Offense gave SOC 9 points and special team 2. Never gave up and played hard all game. Congratulations on a great season -
Last year everyone said Brooks would turn Lamar’s basketball program around. I don’t think they have beaten a D1 school yet. Other than soccer or tennis Lamar’s sports programs have fallen on hard times. For some reason they just can’t compete at the D1 level. It’s sad because they used to be able to compete in men’s basketball and baseball

Fort Bend Marshall (21) vs Port Neches-Groves (29) - FINAL
spidersal replied to Reagan's topic in High School Football
PNG is still in contention and always root for them. Would absolutely love for the Indians to win. Just being realistic on the probable outcome -
Fort Bend Marshall (21) vs Port Neches-Groves (29) - FINAL
spidersal replied to Reagan's topic in High School Football
PNG has had a fantastic season, however I doubt if they score more than 14 and Marshall at least 28 maybe more like 42 was a super season though. 11-3 very nice -
Lumberton (23) vs Tyler Chapel Hill (35) - FINAL
spidersal replied to jdawg03's topic in High School Football
I am sure CH has an outstanding team are they would not be going to 4th round of playoffs and Lumberton had an outstanding year. Still giving up 35 in a game much less a half is not good defense IMO I am for all SETX playoff teams. We are now down to 3. I see Newton winning, Silsbee a possibility, and PNG with an excellent 11-3 season. IMO Newton has the best shot at making it to the state finals -

I would not call go bing up 35 points in the 2nd half very good defense unless they scored some on interception or fumbles returns -

Super season by the Raiders. Had a chance to be better than 2007 team, but forgot their were 2 halves to the game. They were back to the Friendly Raiders the 2nd half. Same record as 2007 team -
Port Neches-Groves (38) vs Brenham (28) - FINAL

Great season by the Indians. 4 rounds deep and only 2 losses to quality teams. Someone from the district will make it to semi finals and probably face SV. See if you can play with Marshall this week -
Yes they are certainly playing well

Lumberton Raider Fan Perspective
spidersal replied to RaiderFan4life's topic in High School Football
I certainly agree that L Town is having a tremendous season and hope they continue for quite sometime , a State Championship would be awesome The only thing I disagree with on Guitar Man’s post is the impressive teams they have defeated. 1 HF -
Location is ok easy trip for Lumberton Should win this one but as playoffs continue they better shore up the defense. Giving up 29 to a weak Palestine team is not going to get it done when they face tougher opponents

Texas City (42) @ Nederland (7) - FINAL
spidersal replied to jdawg03's topic in High School Football
IMO, the major reason for the 2-8 season was due to having to play too many young players. The majority of those players realistically should have been playing on the JV team. The only issue I have with the entire coaching staff is the fact fundamentals we’re lacking. I am sure they were trying to teach them, but whether it was caused by youth or strength or a combination, they were lacking. After a 14 week regular season, they were still dropping passes, throwing bad passes, missing blocks and tackles, etc. They need a very good offseason, getting quicker and stronger. If they do I see 5 or 6 wins next season with a possible chance of making the playoffs. They will still have a difficult time with Marshall, Dayton, PNG, and Texas City, and PAM, however they should win the other games -
I would love to see Nederland win, but must go with Texas City. Too many penalties on Nederland’s offense. Seems like every time they get the offense driving, they get some penalties to stop the drive. The other reason Is because they have no passing game, so if Texas City slows the running game down they should win

Galena Park (7) @ Nederland (42) - FINAL
spidersal replied to jdawg03's topic in High School Football
Way to go Bulldogs Looked much better tonight. Now let’s have a great offseason with these young players and be tremendously improved next season -
Yes that would be a good questions Do not know if they were mad at coaches or knew they were not very good at football or wanted to specialize in one sport or someone talked them into going one sport or talked them into quitting I certainly don’t know the answer to that, but it is a good question I have now realized that is possibly a main factor into a poor season with the team faced with having to play with several players not ready for varsity competition
-
Well KF89 and other posters I think I have finally realized why the Bulldogs are having such a bad season Due to several players quitting at the beginning of this season the majority of players that they still have should have been on the JV team so this season the Bulldogs are having to play a varsity schedule with mainly a JV roster
