Just do my seem to have enough pitching to sweep any series, plus could not manufacture many runs, even though they had several hits

Lamar heading back to Southland Conference
spidersal replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in Lamar Sports Forum
I would certainly think the conference matters. Quality recruits are going to go to schools that have a winning tradition. Lamar will have a change to have more success in the SLC, however if things don’t change they will not win there either. The SLC and WAC are two extremely weak conferences. You have to win the conference or conference tournament to get an invitation to a regional. As of now the Cardinals will not win any major sport in the WAC or SLC. Hopefully that will change in the future -

Lamar heading back to Southland Conference

I personally think Lamar needs to go to Division 2 where they can enjoy success. The SLC does make more since than the WAC due to the financial side. The WAC and SLC are very weak conferences. Hopefully Lamar can find a good AD that can help improve all athletic programs -
Good job Lamar
-
Hopefully they won’t score 21 again. Hoping Lamar can keep it fairly close

I can’t figure out Lamar’s problem, however the result is not good. If things don’t change in a hurry, we will see another losing season, and if they make it to the WAC tournament another 2 and done

Well I see the good Lamar baseball team lost another series. Has Anyone besides me noticed that they have lost the final game in every conference series except SFA. It appears that they only have a few good pitchers. With the remaining schedule, I look for them to finish with anywhere from 25-27 wins and 29-31 losses. They are probably going to be about 15-15 in conference. I don’t know about you, but I would call this average at best. It appears that they either do not have much talent, or the coaching is poor, or a combination of the two.

Sorry 12 runs -
SAT. 4/2- LAMAR BASEBALL- 3 ABILENE CHRISTIAN- 2 FINAL

Good pitching and a clutch hit. The concern is that they have only scored 11 runs in the last 5 games and are 1-4 in those games. They have got to get the offense going -

Hoping Lamar wins this series but for some unknown reason they do not play well against ACU -
What sport had a winning record in 2021-2022?
spidersal replied to Bobcat1's topic in Lamar Sports Forum
Had a bad AD and coaching selections have not been good and because Lamar is a commuter school and hasn’t won in several years they struggle recruiting good athletes -
3/29- NICHOLLS STATE- 5 LAMAR BASEBALL- 2 FINAL

That sounds like there is some poor coaching when a D1 college baseball team continues to commit errors. I can understand a few, but they have way too many. -
They hired a coach that can’t recruit and must have a bad pitching coach. They just have not competed. They are 14-63 over the last two years.
-
Had a chance in the 9th with bases loaded and 1 out but couldn’t come through . Beginning to have too many errors defensively and pitching staff is weak. Today they are getting clobbered, again too many errors and poor pitching. Instead of improving as the season continues, like most teams, they have a tendency to get worse or at least not improve. In my opinion, this is a result of poor coaching.

Held on for another conference win, after overcoming some horrible relief pitching hopefully relief pitching will be better tonight

Joe wasn’t so good yesterday and his era shows it hopefully he will improve

3/20- Sam Houston- 9 Lamar Baseball- 3 FINAL

Took a nice 3-2 lead going to the 8th, however the pitcher he put in had a big time struggle. His pitches must have looked like a slow softball coming across the plate as he got totally ripped, but another series win, and a good 5-1 start, just need to keep it up -
I don’t think so, I have always wanted Lamar to win. Unfortunately in the last several years they have not in their major sports. This is the 1st time they have beat SHS since 2016, so you see my point If you look at the last 2 AD’s, they did nothing to help athletics, well Born may have helped tennis. Also, I am one not afraid to state my honest opinion.

I think they usually get a lot of football players playing baseball. This is usually a good thing, but this year’s football talent level was extremely weak, so I think it has carried over to baseball this season. They should beat PAM and BU twice and hopefully split with GP and finish 3rd or 4th
-
Good job Cardinals. Hope they keep it up!
-
Very good to know, hopefully they will continue that trend since they now in conference play
-
Yes you are correct A&M had a down year last year and is struggling this year, but most years A&M, TCU, TT, Baylor, Texas, and DBU are pretty good and very successful in baseball. I applaud Lamar being 11-6 and 3-0 as of now, however I do not believe that 1 win has been against a team with a winning record this year and I guess HBU recruits more talent, since they destroyed Lamar at their home, so you tell me the last time Lamar’s baseball team has made it to the regional tournament
-
Glad you are there supporting your son and the team and glad you want them to win. That being said, Davis’s record is not very good and his recruiting must be a factor, because the talent level is just not what it needs to be for a Division 1 school to be successful. Maybe they turn the corner this year

Another excellent post Thanks for your work on this
