Well this game came down to the last 3 to 4 minutes in the 4th quarter. Hemphill was down by 5 points and had EF to a 4th and goal. EF threw a little out pass and went in for the score. Killing any chance on Hemphill pulling out the win. Hemphill played a good game. One of are defense starters got kicked out of the game in the 3rd which hurt us. Not sure what was going on with these 2 players but it finally went to throwing punch’s on the field. Which ended with the EF player knocked out laying in the middle of the field. well I guess Hemphill won the boxing match but lost the game. Hemphill played very well looking forward to next season have some young guys coming up that should be pretty good. Looks like Newton is going to have to represent are District after this first round. Are district had 3 losses in this first round but were in every game and just came up short against some very good teams. These teams were good but not on Newton’s level in my Opinion.

Paul pewitt seems to be struggling to get where they were last year. I believe Elysian Fields will be the toughest team in hemphill and Newton first three game bracket. Then dangerfield in 4th game. Although I wouldn’t bet the house on them being around they tend to play all over the place never know if there going to show up week to week. Hemphill will have to have the football Gods on their side to get thru EF first round. Newton should roll first couple games. Then things will get a little tougher in the 3rd and 4th rounds. I look for Newton to play EF in the 3rd round and Daingerfield in the 4th round. Good luck Newton.

I watched that game and I can tell you this.Newton did not play sloppy. It can be said Hemphill played Sloppy in the 4th quarter. Other than that both teams battled it out. It seems Newton not winning by 60 points every game is playing sloppy? That’s some fantasy but not reality. I guess Newton playing a very good team and just winning is not good enough. That’s ego talking not the players performance on the field.

Hemphill showed up to play tonight. Newton was only up by 12 points going into the 4th Qtr. then the wheels fail off for Hemphill.

I was impressed watching Newton. They are very good team. Hemphill in my opinion just doesn’t have a good enough defense to beat them. I think Hemphill offense will be the best Newton has seen in district. If Hemphill’s offense can move the chains and keep Newton’s offense off the field that will be key. If not look for another blowout victory for Newton. I believe this will be an exciting game to watch hopefully not a blow out. Both offenses are very explosive looking forward to watching this one. I can’t speak for Trinity I haven’t seen them play. I did get to watch Huntington. I tell you they played tuff the whole game. There defense should keep them in the game.

Hemphill has 2 ground pounding 200lb backs. A quarter back that can thread a needle throwing the ball and 2 out right Athletes with a ton of speed. So what’s that mean. Well I guess nothing if you can’t get all that organized an executing to perfection. They are still playing like a pre season team on Offense. The defense seems to have found their footing over the last couple of weeks. Will see if Offense shows up Saturday. The good news is Newton showed Hemphill how to stop that quick pass New Waverly loves to throw on the slant across the middle. The bad news is Newton beat the crap out of them. They will be looking for pay back Saturday. I watched NW and Newton play Monday. NW I thought played a respectable first quarter then the wheels feel off and it was the Newton beat down show after that. I believe Hemphill has way more weapons on offense than NW has. If Hemphill gets their act together I look for them to win this game. If not they just as well hang up those shoes and get ready for basketball.

Both defenses played good first half. Hemphill can’t hold on to the ball. Fumbling on the 1 yard. Then fumbling again around the 40. Hemphill better do better than that in the next half are Owls are going mess up our pretty 4 and 0 record.
