UHH.  Guess someone will have to win.  :P

Blue has a point.  As everyone knows, I have ties to Evadale and keep up with them with and watch them a few times every year.  The last year or two it seems they are trying to have some big kids, talented kids go one way.  In a 1A thats just not practical.  If the really good kids are lucky, they get a break on the kicking game only.  I know the tight end from last year and the only kid bigger than him is Tucker.  Surely he's not on the sideline as a second string tight-end!?

They should win a playoff game this year.  Like us, they are a Div II (small school) in their class, so they shouldn't meet a beast in the 2nd round like they have the last 4 or 5 years.  A first round bye has also hurt the Rebels the last 4 years...IMO I still think their best passing QB is Junior, Murphy.  The kid is not as mobile as the present QB but he can throw the ball for days (a long way) and he has good height.  Something the Rebels have lacked over the years is the ability to protect a "passing QB" and that may be the reason they have stayed with a scrambling type QB last year and this. All in all, they'll fine with the schedule they have and we'll see come playoff time.

Are you seriuos?  In the playoffs, you dance with one that brought you!!!  No second chances here.  If you're up 10 on somebody, you fog it to em and end it in five innings.  You loose here, you go home.  If you're down 10, you keep playing (the starters) and hope for that big inning.  This aint upwards. If Williams plays everyone and losses, uh, he'd have some serious questions to answer. These are just this mans thoughts.

I'm picking Evadale BUT, if they believe they are going to advance because of who they are and who've they beaten lately, they'll be making early vacation plans. Play the game Rebs and you'll be fine.

Like some have said, Evadale wan't included on this poll, but that's my pick.  The Rebels have the best shot at playing in Austin!!! JMO

Not sure if its true, but I did hear that the Evadale HC tried to get a game with Buna but Buna was not interested. Don't know, just the word on the street. [b]Good to Chester and Buna in the playoffs![/b]

I know we're getting off the subject of Buna/Anahuac, but I've seen Evadale and Buna play this year and it could go either way on any given night.  The one difference in which I would gived the edge to Evadale is they are more consistant than Buna...BUT a 12-0 spanking by Evadale over Anahuac earlier in the year is a hard one to discredit...JMO Not calling anyone out, just saying.

I was at this one and it could have been lights out if the Rebs would have rolled over.  14-1 start, WOW!  Both teams played hard nose ball from the 2nd quarter on and Spurger stopped a strong run by Evadale late in the 4th to seal the game.  I think the Rebs got to within 6 points midway through the 4th. I really believe Evadale's "big" men will have to play "bigger" than they have been.  Don't misunderstand, I think they are fine players, but they could/should be a force and they aren't.  The Rebs found a hot hand in Murphy down the stretch but as soon a he got hot, they stopped feeding him the ball.  The Pirates played good defense on him but thats not what stopped him from shooting.  The ball not getting in his hands hurt the Rebs late. JMO Good luck to both clubs in the playoffs.

Personally, I don't like the D1, D2 idea.  I guess we would go small in 2A for sure, but I feel its getting too watered down.  We're only making it easier for more teams to make the playoffs, IMO.  It won't make a team better, it just gets them away from some of the better competition.  I'm sure Evadale will fair better in the small school bracket, as would we, but what have you really accomplished?  Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Evadale supporter as I have many good friends there.  I just think its getting too easy to get in and advance.  I mean think about it, if two teams go to the playoffs in the small and big school divisions, theres a REAL possibility that Chester could have an OK season and come in 2nd to Evadale.  The same Chester that had to forfeit their season due to lack of players.  :-\  I really don't get it.

Congrats on a good season Bobcats.  I'm sure the area and your district (except a couple from burkeville) are proud of you.  You'll be back next year for another run.

This guy has a weird obsession with hating Evadale.  The thread is "will they make a playoff run" not "how good has burkeville been through the years".  As one bville poster said, "we're not all bad posters" (pretty close to that), but this guy is making a strong case!!!  I've got alot of respect for bville as do most evadale posters, but this guy makes it difficult. [/quote]Although the rebs are my second favorite team, I do not believe their offense takes it easy as long as they are ahead.  I'm not downing Evadale, but I really think they better get aggressive on the offensive side of the ball.  I know they have a perfect record, but how many teams they've played are over 500 for the year?  They need to turn up the intensity and play like they did the first game of the year. I know this is not what this thread is about, but interesting.

UR right trophy.  Evadale took it to Dville pretty good, then I saw them play Hull-D and they looked completely different.  Not quite as sharp.  They don't seem to have that fire that the Rebels had early this year and even into last year.  I feel they will take WH but they better not assume the Bulldogs are afraid of them.
