I think WOS is playing at OF Friday night, but you're definitely right it would be hard for boosters to run stadium operations there.
I seen Morris and Landry both had over 100 yards rushing against HH.
It really was a whacky game. Game started an hour early, tropical storm ran started moving in, key starters out. Vidor running out of the pistol with zero deception. It was definitely not our night! lol
OF is gonna have to grind it out and go straight at WOS all night if they want a chance to win. I KNOW it was just a scrimmage but the Mustangs shut everything down when we tried to run outside and get the edge. We got more yardage going straight up the gut than trying to get the edge in the second half - but there is a rhyme and a reason why WOS scrimmages the Pirates every year specifically for these type of games. Also, you better hope you contain Gales especially if he gets outside, dude has burners if you don't.
I think alot of us pirate fans are still mind boggled by that game last year. Didn't Vidor move to a 4 man front that game to stop the run in the second half?
I was thinking about WO-S too, since it would be neutral and fit all of the fans. But y'all think if the field is bad enough they would move it? Personally, I don't think they would.
Our offense went in the opposite direction over the years.😂
I was thinking the other day, my nephew was only 3 years old when Mathews switched to the Slot-T offense in 2007. Just shows how long he has implemented that offense.🤯
50% chance of rain friday.
I would think it would help Vidor in their favor, but with them and ball security and a wet football? Idk. Mathews said in a interview after the game, that they're gonna get it corrected, and if any group can do it, it's these kids. Lawd, I hope so! LCM seemed to struggle against Jasper with a wet field so, it'll definitely even things out I would think.
Yeah, I don't think either team would want to play on a wet field. But I wouldn't think they would move the game to Vidor, or at least I don't think Peevey would.
Wow, now that you described the jerseys I remember seeing them in The Vidorian for homecoming one year. Seemed like they were looking dapper for the away games! It would be awesome if Vidor could bring those uni's back like these college teams do. But I agree, these new yellow gold colors now days are fugly.
I think they could battle for a playoff spot. They're pretty decent on offense, their OL held their own and for most part and opened some holes for their RB. Their QB is good as well and really didn't make any bad decisions throwing the ball. Defensively, they wore down quicker than most teams we faced this season.
That's one thing I've noticed myself, every team that Vidor has faced so far the opposing defense were gassed by the fourth quarter. Splendora's D looked gassed by the second quarter last night!
That's what I think as well, only time I've ever seen us blitz was in certain situations. But I'd love for us to get after him and force him to make a decision. Not necessarily blitz every down or every series but keep that o-line guessing.
You're definitely right. They somewhat cleaned it up in the second half, but they gotta fix it this week or Peevey will exploit our secondary even more. What's even worse we didn't blitz all night and had 7-8 guys in coverage all game and Splendora still burnt our toast.
Agreed. I'm all for smack talking and its what makes these games fun. But there are boundaries, like don't make it personal, don't call kids out, and always respect your opponent like you said.
