Great scrimmage like usual against the Mustangs. They looked good and dominated us pretty much all game. Pirates showed some promise but we have alot to work on, the passes are right in our receivers bread basket almost every time but they got butter fingers. Most of the yardage Vidors ground game came straight up the gut, we had nothing trying to get in the flats and WOS speed showed easily. Good luck the rest of the way Mustangs, I look forward to seeing y'all make another deep playoff run! Our Vidor boys have potential, just gotta clean up some bonehead mistakes. Go Pirates!

Gonna be alot of Nederland and Silsbee coaches scouting this game tonight. I know last week, there was ALOT of Silsbee people at the scrimmage against Buna.

That's a really a good idea, give these kids a chance to get vaccinated before they get full swing into their season! Cause when they cancelled the scrimmages, it didn't look promising at first! lol

That 2016 Pirate team was special. Starting the season with a blowout loss to Barbers Hill, 40-6. Mathews changed alot of things up after that loss and we're able to get a share of that title, beating a really good Memorial team. Having a Quirante kid helped too! 😂

I can get behind this opinion, 100%. Their head was too big for their body last season, and it showed after the Splendora loss, and when they went back under center. They looked like the team they should've been all season.

Apparently San Antonio ISD has cancelled football scrimmages this week. Can't find much else on Google except from txfblife on Instagram has posted.

Yup, I remember that '96 season. I was young but it was my older brothers senior year so I remember a good bit of it and that was a fun football season for sure!

WOS was 5-0 when they lost to Vidor that night. I'm curious what term you would of used instead of stunned, maybe "upset?"

Yup, lonestar is where I got it from and its definitely not 100% accurate. But yeah, the 90's were not good to us at all. '98 is the year we went 1-9, 1999 was Mathews first year and we went 5-5 that season and stunned WOS that year, 21-17. Agreed. I think with Root at QB they were trying to utilize his speed with that new scheme and hurt us more than it helped. But I think the mistakes last year are gonna help us win ball games with going back to what we do best,and that's run it down your throat. I'm excited to see what this group can do as well!

The offense from what I seen last Friday against Buna, they fire off the ball and the ball carriers don't hesitate to hit a hole unlike what we seen last season and I'm glad they're going back to what works and not the pistol, that scheme had zero deception! lol But Jordan finally told the coaches this season he wanted to go both ways, so he's playing TE and did so all game last week. But I seriously think this team is better than last year like Mathews said.
