This is a thread about Nederland Baseball. Let's keep it that way. Piling on a kid or using a kid as a pawn to get back at other members isn't right. Take the high road. If Duplant leaving Nederland is a good thing in your opinion, keep it to yourself and wish him well. Regardless, he is still a young man, trying to figure out the path to take in his life. He took a year off, paid his dues. Let him go on with his life. Let's get back to Nederland baseball. Having said that, Nederland will be just fine this year. If they miss the playoffs, it won't be because an absence of Duplant. My prediction is they make the playoffs.

Reposted off of Diamond King Sports website. If you have been around select for a while, this may ring true with you. Especially if you coach. The Grass Is Not Alway Greener 12/29/2012, 12:45pm CST By DKing Dan Loyalty is hard to find these days... . I know you have done a ton for me coach but.... Old school people, like me, remember Johnny Bench only catching for the Reds, Roger Staubach QB'ing the Cowboys, and Larry Bird shooting for the Celtics. What would we have done with our purple and gold Lakers # 32 jersey had Magic Johnson bolted for the Knicks? How bad would Terry Bradshaw have looked in a Dolphins uniform? Could we imagine Don Drysdale pitching in pinstripes? We have all heard the cliche "the grass is greener" but is it? As I discussed in a previous article (AA or MAJORS). There is a time to move vertically up the food chain. A kid needs to be pushed and play better kids. He needs the exposure so college coaches can make a fair evaluation of him. But, why do kids move horizontally? Why do kids leave a program where the coach has been good to him? I'm old school, but I believe you dance with the gal that brought you to the dance. Coaches do a lot of work on your behalf. They coach you. They make calls. They invest their time and effort getting you seen. They work many hours away from the field marketing you. So if they have done their job with exposure, marketing and teaching, why would you leave them for the next best program? I think I can answer that. The loyalty is gone in this generation. It starts with their stars, they jump for money. Most recently in OKC, "The Beard" fled for Houston. Why do they flee? It is greed as old as Cane and Abel. I am not sure I can blame them, there is a finite window that the can make the real money. In the big leagues, regardless of sport, loyalty is gone from the owners and the loyalty is gone from the players. This mentality trickles down to the travel ball sector. The kids and parents think there is a better deal out there. Sometimes there is, but many times there isn't. I understand leaving Program A for Program B if you are not getting what you need, but don't do it for the sake of doing it. I can promise you if you aren't happy with Program A for some things, there will be other things in Program B that will leave you unsatisfied. The move will start out great. I call it the honeymoon phase. Everything will go your way. You will be batting where you want, you will be playing where you want and you will pitch at the right time. However, as with a ton of marriages, the honeymoon won't last forever. If you aren't producing at a level the new coach wants or expects, reality will set in, the grind will set in, the fights will begin and you will be left asking where do I go from here? Reasons to leave: 1. Prior to joining a program, identify where you want to go to school and ask questions of coach to see if the college coaches that need to see you, can see you. If that coach has misled you, and you are not playing in the appropriate tournaments, you might need to seek a better fit for you 2. You find out coach is not working on your behalf. This maybe tough to do, but it can be done. 3. Let's say your catcher #2 and catching every third game. DH one game and sit one game. Coach brings in the next Pudge. And catcher # 1 slides into your role. You stay for a tournament or two and see that your playing time is nil. Catcher # 1 is ok with his new role, you need to find another place. As with the big league guys, you have a finite time to make your money (scholarship) 4. Sometimes it just isn't working for either party. It may be coaching style, team chemistry, or just a bad fit. Everyone makes mistakes and choosing a summer program is no different. How to leave: 1. Talk to coach, explain why you need to do what you need to do. Parents let your child do this. He needs to take ownership over his decisions. 2. Thank coach for his help. Baseball is a small community, you can't afford to burn a bridge. 3. DO NOT bad mouth their program! You do not want coach bad mouthing you to a college coach. In Conclusion: There are things in this article I wish we would have done differently, things we have learned through the process, things we will continue to learn. If I could start over and do the whole travel ball thing again, I would not make the same mistakes twice. Good luck! Dan

The GT Terror 13U team is looking for a player interested in being our main catcher. Seeking a player who wants to be more of a catcher than a position player. Interested players, please call Todd Legendre at 409-658-5572 for tryout times.

I feel bad for the students of the school and the players on this team. Embarrassing. Plain and simple. There is nothing to hang your hat on. No improvement 4 games in. District could be flat out disastrous. Kincaid had them 40-0 at half, then showed mercy in 2nd half. Hopefully Pius and Thomas will also be as kind. No one expected many wins, but at least be competitive.
The worst kept secret ever. We all knew. 2 Sons was shown posting on this thread, then two minutes later, Wish u knew posted something on this thread. We all knew, we just wanted to see how far he would carry on this charade. Twice he said he was done, just be done already and go away quietly, rather than build on this mess. Radio silence is good right now. I was going to post proof earlier, but I don't need to now. -

I didn't know anything about these post until someone told me tonight. Are you guys so bored you have to start making stuff up to keep you busy? Hopefully these two teams can settle it on the field this year. ;)
The funny thing is, you don't hear one thing from a Viper's Coach or Parent, (evene when yall accused them of something) it's all Gladiators Parents and Coaches (Andy B,Jeff M, Dave M).. NOT ONE VIPER Coach or Parent has said one thing. A simple question was asked by me and it turned into this crap. Believe it or not, I was not fishing for competitive reasons, just did not want to have to go to every thread and asked!! TRUST me more then myself was wanting to know. I can only hope the nonsense stops but i doubt it will! Settle what on the field "whos coaching and the dues" cause that was the question asked!
I am Jeff M, and why are you bringing me into this? I have commented one time on this post, and it was about stopping this crap. So where do you get off on calling me out for something? Also Dave M has nothing to do with any of our teams, he deals with high school kids, so what's your beef with him? I haven't seen any post from Andy B on here, so I don't know what that's about either. As far as settling it on the field, I'm talking about the obvious hatred between Gladiators and Vipers. I would love to have a chance to play y'all....I mean them since you have no relation to that team.
They (Gladiators) got what they wanted! Let me remind you of something Jeff, these are 9 and 12 year old kids. Those are strong words there my friend. I thought the hatred was between ussssa and nations? I do not have any relation at all with them. As far as saying who I am when Andy comes out I mean Keith Stone I will.. lol
And what was it thay the Gladiators wanted? Strong words for 9 and 12 year old kids? What words are you talking about? I thought this was competitive sports. I don't see a problem with two good teams battling it out on the field.
Look, lets just play some ball and stop all this! I hope you get what you want and ya'll can play each other. good luck with your team this year.. I'm done with this tread..
Wish You Knew! = Coward. Everyone else puts their name on the line and when called to the mat, he runs. Huge loss of credbility there! As far as saying who I am when Andy comes out I mean Keith Stone I will.. lol
Keith Stone did, and you failed to live up to your end of the bargain. Making accusations behind a screen name is soft!! Way to live up to your word. -

I can only hope the nonsense stops but i doubt it will! Settle what on the field "whos coaching and the dues" cause that was the question asked!
Since you brought my name up, let me clarify a few things. First, I have no idea what "crap" you guys are referring to. You see, I ran the high school Gladiators, which was 100% separate from the non-high school, younger Gladiators. So don't lump me in with the other Gladiator coaches, just to make your point. Second, I have NO CLUE who the Vipers are, nor do I care. Clearly there is animosity between the Vipers and Gladiators. I don't know and don't care to know more, as to why. My point was, why get disgusted with Morgan or anyone else from an organization, for not responding to your request, when you could simply pick up the phone and ask. Or, better yet, look at every notice for tryout on this website, and deduce that the guy you call for more info., is the coach. I mean really, who posts an inquiry as to coaches and costs on every team in an organization, on a public website, then gets miffed as to a non-response? Let's ask Bandito's or Marrucci, Columbia Angels or Houston Heat, who all their coaches are for every team, then ask costs, on a public web site. Then get ticked as to why they don't answer. As I stated before, this is silly! It absolutely amuses me how much parental ego gets in the way of youth select baseball. Which is why I devoted time to high school guys. You see, those kids that make it to the high school select teams have a burning desire to go to the next level. It's all about the kids! Reading these posts, it sounds like youth (non-high school) select is more about the parents, and less about the kids. My question is, why does it have to be that way? Regards, Dave Morrow PS - "Wish you knew"...back it up and come out from behind your screen name. I did. -

Where is the silver lining in this game?
silver lining----hmmm---ofield only had 27 passing yards???
Yes, and only 373 yards given up on the ground. That's an improvement from 600 and 400.
Maybe you can also ask him who's coaching and the dues and let us know also since they wont respond on here.
Really?!! Either call Morgan Walker, the head of the Gladiator younger age groups, or look at the posts on this site. Under each post, it says for more info, call ____. I bet the person you call is the coach for that team (Pat Ford, Jed McBride, Jeff Moye, Wes Koch, etc). Also, what makes you think Morgan Walker gets on this website. Finally, unless you are fishing for competitive reasons, why do you need to know the costs and coach of every age group? Don't get disgusted when no one answers you. Not everyone reads this website. Its a silly post to begin with. You want answers, call Morgan Walker at SE Texas Baseball Academy. I am sure they are in the book. -
Enough already people! Give it a break. Keep these points in mind as you throw around accusations. 1. The senior class from last year was probably one of the best football classes at Kelly over the past decade. So comparing this year to last is not fair to this year's kids, or coaches. 2. Kelly does not have the money to give out scholarships nor recruit. Sometimes people switch schools simply because they feel there are better opportunities at their new school, both athletically and academically. 3. Any coach, especially a new coach, wants to implement a system or scheme on offense that they feel will be most successful over the life of the program, not just this year. 4. Add to the previous point that this coaching staff, at least half, are new to this team. The Head Coach took over in late July. He had no spring practice to introduce his systems and schemes. So, in his month with these kids, not only does he need to assess and evaluate his players, he needs to introduce them to his offense and defense in a crash course month. Hard to do for anyone to do and be successful. 5. Coach Hartsfield did not leave because he saw a sinking ship on the horizon. I spoke with him the week before he left Kelly. Yes, he knew this year would be an off year for Kelly. But he was very excited about the current sophmore and freshman class. There is good athleticism in those grades. I think his AD duties were the problem. Furthermore, a guy wanting to coach for a year, then leave because he saw the ship sinking, does not go through spring practice with a team, actively seek coaches for baseball and softball during the summer, then leave at the end of summer. If he truly felt he was a one and done coach, he would have secured his job by end of school, not end of summer. Give Coach Holmes, his staff, and these kids a break. He has only been with these kids a month.

Gladiators in Fort Meyers at 17u Perfect Game
bmtball replied to Arms77's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Congratulations to 17U Gladiators, Preston Pittman, Colby Sciarrilla, and Montana Garcia for making the Perfect Game BCS Championship All-Tournament Team. Pittman and Sciarrilla made it for pitching, while Garcia made it for hitting. Congratulations to these three and the rest of the team for representing SE Texas in a very positive way.
