OK football fans, the Coach is back. So far everyone has picked the likely teams, but I'm going to stick with my feelings and say the Hardin County guys will make a strong challenge this year for a playoff berth. Yes, last year was tough, we knew it would be, but we basically fielded a junior team against senior squads with some excellent talent. For instance, i noticed in the program book, Nederland fielded some 33 seniors against Lumberton, not to mention one of the best running backs in the state, Good Luck Micah Mosely at the next level. Dont count the Raiders out just yet!

The Lumberton Youth Football & Cheerleading association will begin its 2007 registrations again this year during the Village Creek Festival. The festival begins April 19 and continues through the 21st. There are some division changes this year, so stop by the booth and sign up and catch up on the new changes. See ya at the Festival. Registrants will need to bring copies of their report cards and birth certificates.

Thanks Coop, your probably right, Coach A doesnt like to give out a lot of information. He is his own worst critic.

Hey Coop, who gave you the Lumberton information. I watched the freshmen, JV and Varsity. I thought the Raiders did a very good job for their first outing. In a real game setting, it would have been no-contest. It appeared to me that Lumberton crossed the endzone stripe at least twice, lol and recovered a fumble for another score. HF did score once. Thank You Ambulance Staff for having water for donations at the field. We would have all died without you guys.

Who wins the Vidor vs. Lumberton game?
Coach Mike replied to piratefan's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
It looks like Lumberton and vidor have developed quite a nice rivalry. Its gonna be a good run. And yes, we will have a New tunnel this year because I just sent in the check for it on behalf of the Lumberton Raider Athletic Booster Club and a fantastic sponsor. P.S. I voted for Lumberton. -
Bless ya Gusher. Its apparent to me that this site is kinda bias WO horse fans. They have been very lucky to be in the right district at the right times, not to mention they have one of, if not the best high school coaching staffs in the state of Texas. Enjoy it while you can. However, Lumberton is in building mode. As I said before, the right pieces are there and Coach Alvin knows the answer to the puzzle. It just takes a little time. WE WILL DO BETTER this year and bet your monies on these kids senior year...........Hit Somebody Every Play!!!

Let us all remind ourselves, there is a lot more to being a good coach than just winning games or playoffs. As we all know, ALL teachers are under paid, including coaches who spend countless hours after the bell rings with kids that are in the most dangerous periods of their young lives. Coaches and teachers as a whole spend more time with our children than most parents..............I think they deserve whatever they can get. In addition, when you add on the title of Athletic Director, the job takes on a whole new things-to-do-list!!!!!

Ok, lets see if we can clear this up a little. All of us involved with Lumberton football for the record dont expect to win any championships this year, nor do we expect to go undefeated. We are all so dad gum glad to see the old coach go packing and a Lumberton graduate with a lot of coaching experience get a chance to use what talent he has to begin to build our program. That's It. I would hope that all you other sports fans will give him a chance to begin the long process. He doesnt need any more pressure that he already has. A few wins and some good close games this year would be a big boost and a tremendous building block for the next few years.

Hey Coach Barry, just wanted to know if you guys have tried any of the composite balls in our league. I think that Little Cypress used them at least once. We are thinking of putting them in use this year on a trial basis. I believe they will hold up much better than traditional leather. Let me know and good luck in the 06 season.

After Saturdays all-day registration, it looks like Lumberton Youth Football will field multiple teams in every division again this year with late registrations looming in late June or early July. As we speak, try-outs will be held at the MIddle School Field on Friday, July 14th from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. The last try-out will be Saturday, July 22nd from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. A registered nurse will be on hand to give physicals at a nominal fee. Please remember to bring your paperwork if you haven'd done so. Our drart for all divisions will be held Sunday, July 23 at a place and time to be announced. First practice by rule is August 1.

I have to agree with the comments on 5A status for the Raiders. Although Lumberton is without a doubt the fastest growing community in SE Texas, they are also the smallest school in District 22-4A. I think they will have a virtual lock on being a very large 4A team like we have been competing against for years. The future looks very good and Coach Credeur is the man for the job. Given a chance Credeur can turn this program around fast.

Im one of the proud fathers of the 7-10th grade that Coach Credeur has formed into a winning machine. These kids have more heart that any group ive ever seen. Since I graduated Lumberton in 1971, I have seen a lot!!. Its true that JV does not equal varsity level, but lets give them all a chance and see what happens. Just for the record, because ive been in the middle of it, the outgoing AD and head coach took 6 of Credeur's best players off the undefeated team and moved them to help his 0-8 slate last year. Credeur STILL went undefeated...........Go Raiders!

There could be some raised brows this year as the new head coach and AD brings a new spirit and attitude to the smallest school in 22-4A. Yes, his sophomore team this past has not lost a real game in 4 years, but this year will be tough going against some of the best schools in Texas and their returning seniors. 2007 will be Lumbertons coming out party.
