You don’t complete 70% of your passes just because of your o-line. With how often Carthage throws it and the kind of throws they ask of their quarterbacks, that is phenomenal. So yes, that statistic does matter. Any coach would LOVE to have that comp percentage and td to int ratio.

Carthage QB handled Gilmer just fine last time these two teams played. And he’s handled every other defense just fine as well. Not sure why you have such a bone to pick with this kid, but he’s breaking the school record for completion percentage this year (says a lot, because Carthage is not a team that just throws short, they throw ALL over the field) which goes to show you he is very accurate. He also has only thrown I believe 2 INTs all year to close to 30 TDS at this point

Again I never took anything away from WOS. It’s just a tell as old as time when a team loses, especially a favorite, it’s all because of this or that. my money was on CS as soon as we knew the matchup was happening. Without knowing players were going to be out for various reasons

I can absolutely, with a straight face and in all seriousness say that this year’s team could easily could be just fine missing 7 starters. This is not the best team Carthage has had from a pure talent standpoint, but it is by far the most depth I’ve ever seen on a Carthage team.

I did not say anything about taking credit away from WOS on the season they have had up to this point. I just simply said missing starters shouldn’t be the excuse. I knew it would offend the WOS faithful, but that’s ok. Just honesty.

I really hope this isn’t the excuse that WOS will hang their hat on. Football is a team sport. It’s “next man up” when someone goes out. Missing players for Covid, grades, etc can happen to anyone. I’m sorry you didn’t have the depth to compete with China Spring. You got to give credit where credit is due! China Spring is the real deal either way and earned it.

But If you were paying attention the radio host began to ask him about the WOS and China Spring matchup but launched into talking about China Spring's game against Jasper. The host never said anything else about WOS after steering the conversation to China Spring. Also, what does it matter if they talked about WOS or not on this Carthage, TX radio show segment?

He was asked to talk about other games in the bracket. And he answered. He also said that "if we are fortunate enough to win against Silsbee.." when asked about potential matchups on next week. The Carthage program (athletes and coaches) never looks past their current opponent.

I definitely dont know as much about both these teams as some of you probably do, that being said I think it will be a closer game than that.

I confess I haven't had time to read this whole thread... I fully expect WOS to win this game, but I also feel like this ought to be a good and competitive game. Does the consensus expect a good game or a blowout?

I would be really surprised if we see any more forfeits beginning in the 3rd round and onward.
