Tarkington had 0 Freshman starters last year - Only a handful of freshman ever dressed out throughout the season and none of them had any meaningful minutes.....

Bold season predictions for 2023-2024
PrairieMan replied to BBfan061's topic in High School Boys Basketball
I could see Onalaska making the playoffs with New Waverly likely falling hard. But Tarkington and Crockett will battle it out for first place in the district. Coldspring will have a tough time going three rounds deep from the 3rd or 4th spot as that might match them up against a strong Hitchcock team. All that being said, I've never seen a team fall so hard as they did the second half of the season last year. Not sure, anything has changed since last years team to push them back into District title conversation. -
He was already there as Interim so he will just continue as normal from this point forward. He's going to have to get moving quickly on getting assistant coaches hired.

The only positive regarding the recent turnover is the kids got a face that's been in house for a few years now and I don't think he's going anywhere. That will help provide stability for the kids. Might see some familiar faces pop back up in the coordinator positions as well. In reality, it will always be tough for us to compete in football no matter what class or district we are in. Basketball and baseball will stay competitive for next few years either way.

My apologies, I took the statement wrong then. Either way, unless we get an influx of people and in particular high school kids then it will be tight either way. We may be one of those borderline schools that help determine where the line is drawn to keep classes properly distributed.

Unless I'm looking at something wrong, the number I come up with for Tarkington is 556 and thus puts us only 11 kids over just based on the enrollment numbers from the website you provided. I think the avg line move over the past few years has been about 8% of the bottom number so that would put the estimated cutoff at around 570. Don't get me wrong even that would put us really close to the cutoff. Not trying to be argumentative, just wondering where you're coming up with Tarkington will be well above 600+ kids from?

Coach Toby Belt takes over as AD/Head Football Coach at Tarkington.

From my understanding currently only Woodridge Forest Middle school feeds into West Fork. However that's completely based off of conversations with friends of ours that live there.

If he decides to answer, please let me in on what it is. Sounds like some people were questioning him around here even though he was making great progress in such a short time with alot of other kids. If he's really concerned about the loud minority's opinion then he's going to hate Hardin. Because at least here he had enough talent to beat bad teams. There he doesn't have enough talent to beat anybody! He's done some really good things out here in a year's time frame. and will be missed by the majority.

For starters. It needs a LOT less Karens!!!! People used to like it here because it was old school. Conservative people with conservative values that let the school discipline their children then the parents disciplined again at home. These days, everyone is so SOFT!!! All these move ins are only making it worse.

What is with this school? How bad does it have to be up there that you take a pay cut to go to one of the worst athletic schools in the area? I thought he would be the first one to stay until he retired which would have given this school some stability for a change.

3A Region III District 23 - District picks?
PrairieMan replied to PrairieMan's topic in High School Boys Basketball
Yeah it's gotten a bit ridiculous on the EVERYONE gets a trophy. Heck I even got questions on the hometown 1st team picks. The best player for Tarkington is on 2nd team and a bunch of kids that averaged single digit points per game are on the 1st team. Also how does anyone from a non playoff team make 1st team unless they were truly dominant? This list looks a lot like you scratch my back and appease my parents and I will do the same. -

I've seen a few of these but not the full list. Just wondering if anyone had them. @Tyerman figured you might? -

I'd love to see the games at Dickies arena in Ft Worth. Went to NCAA March Madness last year and that place is amazing. No bad seats in the house, fairly easy to get in and out of, good parking and it is really nice. -

I don’t know any of y’all but I’m going to need BU fans to be better. Cussing and dogging out teenagers because they want to stand during their teams playoff game and cheer while sitting behind their own teams bench is a shame. I have no dog in the hunt but complaining constantly trying to get them to sit down or kicked out is just plain wrong. They were there cheering on their classmates. Then when they started losing, grown ass men and women BU fans acting a fool to kids….. shameful. -

Two starters coming back, one’s a freshman and one’s a sophomore. 5 difference makers coming back from the bench. 3 sophmores and 2 juniors. Won’t be deep but top 5 or 6 should be solid. -

Thanks! But I can’t help but feel like we left something on the table this year… Barring any big injuries or move outs the next few years are very bright for this group. Earliest prediction ever, Horns win their district next year!!! -

Refs letting both teams play pretty physical. I like it!
