  1. I don't know how much you actually know about this year's participants. But so far every team that Tarkington has played at KSA has been pretty good with quite a bit of size. Now tomorrow's teams don't appear to be near as tough. It appears they played the 3 best teams all today. Agreed their record doesn't look great but they have had some flashes of great play and the team has a lot of potential, just got to put it all together. Don't forget they start a freshman, a sophmore, 3 juniors and one senior. Not making excuses for them, if they want any hope of advancing in the playoffs they are going to have to gel and become more consistent VERY soon!

  3. Tarkington over Liberty 3-1
  4. My hope is, that theoretically, not EVERYONE can move up. It's not like many schools in our area are decreasing in size. Therefore to keep things even from a numbers perspective, the powers that be are going to have to move the cut off lines high enough to keep these districts where they belong.

  6. Huffman wins in 2 sets. Both pretty close games
  7. They are definitely a scrappy bunch. Tarkington beat them 25-14 and then dropped two sets in a row. PNG beat them first set then dropped two straight also.
  8. Gold bracket - Tarkington tournament 6th - Tarkington 5th - HJ 4th- Hardin 3rd - PNG Championship game - Buna Vs Huffman
  9. Gold bracket Buna wins in 3 sets vs Tarkington Hardin wins in 3 sets vs HJ Buna Vs PNG Huffman Vs Hardin
  10. Monday - Tarkington wins vs Corrigan (3-0) Tuesday - Tarkington vs Providence Classical
  11. Tarkington might have something to say about that, but we like playing the role of the underdog.
  12. Tomorrow we will know a little bit more about a couple of local teams. Tarkington vs Crosby @ 950am Tarkington vs Dayton @ 1130am Tarkington vs Huffman @ 110pm I'm sure the other teams play each other as well but this is all I've seen regarding a schedule.
  13. I am serious. Their incoming Junior group is one of the more athletic groups to come through in a while. All of the difference makers saw considerable playing time as sophmores on varsity last year. The RB is a tough senior kid with some wheels! I know Taylor left but Belt provided stability in the transition. Do you have any actual knowledge of the program or the kids currently there? Just wondering how much of your opinion you can actually back up or if you're just throwing the yearly Tarkington sucks smoke out there.
  14. Ouch! Tarkington in last place in District 10. That's pretty tough. Especially considering they return something like 19/22 starters position wise and saw quite a bit of improvement from the previous season. I'm going to say they sneak into the playoffs as the #4 this year.
  15. Are you talking about Legacy the School of Sports Sciences? It says their coach is Michael Bishop, is that the same Willis/KState Michael Bishop????
  16. I'm interested to see how Tarkington looks going into Coach Kennedy's second year. His middle has put in a ton of work and I fully expect her to take District MVP honors. They return quite a few impact kids from last year and add a few from the lower ranks. I know one thing, these kids around here love Coach and I think he's got this program finally pointed back in the right direction.
  17. 100% agree. I had to edit as I completely read the school wrong…
  18. They have a strong Freshman group. They will likely improve as the season goes on and be back near the top by next year.
  19. Tarkington @ Huffman 9AM on Friday @ Tarkington (i'm guessing multiple teams but none listed) 10AM on Saturday
  20. Tarkington Scrimmages @ Hardin-Jefferson 8/11 @ Hull Daisetta 8/17
  21. I think Splendora is a definite move up to 5A Also Tarkington and Shepherd will be on the bubble depending on how far the line moves
  22. Tarkington had 0 Freshman starters last year - Only a handful of freshman ever dressed out throughout the season and none of them had any meaningful minutes.....
  23. I could see Onalaska making the playoffs with New Waverly likely falling hard. But Tarkington and Crockett will battle it out for first place in the district. Coldspring will have a tough time going three rounds deep from the 3rd or 4th spot as that might match them up against a strong Hitchcock team. All that being said, I've never seen a team fall so hard as they did the second half of the season last year. Not sure, anything has changed since last years team to push them back into District title conversation.
  24. He was already there as Interim so he will just continue as normal from this point forward. He's going to have to get moving quickly on getting assistant coaches hired.
  25. The only positive regarding the recent turnover is the kids got a face that's been in house for a few years now and I don't think he's going anywhere. That will help provide stability for the kids. Might see some familiar faces pop back up in the coordinator positions as well. In reality, it will always be tough for us to compete in football no matter what class or district we are in. Basketball and baseball will stay competitive for next few years either way.
