Needville (52) vs Lumberton (28) - FINAL
Separation Scientist replied to jdawg03's topic in High School Football
Lumberton is playing it safe, not playing to win. Good example is Lumberton fair catching the kickoff after Needvilles 3rd TD. The kick returner had 15 clear yards in front of him and two blockers by his side but fair caught the ball. There are no more tomorrows in the playoffs. JUST GO! -
BH Softball commits
Separation Scientist replied to Separation Scientist's topic in High School Softball
When BH won State we had an unbeatable 1-2 punch in the circle. Sophia Simpson (UT) and Samantha Landry (Louisiana) were a nightmare for teams to get through in a best of 3 series. I have the hope something similar is in the works. A Nutter - Bryant duo could have lots of potential. Stay tuned! -
If the 5A D1/D2 split number goes down, and the bottom number goes down, do you think the top 5A number goes down too?

Bellville (49) @ West Orange-Stark (7) - FINAL

Except, Urban Meyer doesn't want to coach, and Petrino is already employed at TAM. All thats needed would be to change his title. Bring a a UM or anyone similar, and TAM has to cough up even more big bucks. Thats the whole point of my suggestion, Petrino can save TAM multi-millions while they pay down JBF. -

Petrino's record: Championships C-USA (2004) Big East (2006) ACC Atlantic Division (2016) MVFC (2020) Awards C-USA Coach of the Year (2004) MVFC Coach of the Year (2020) -

FBM is probably the most overrated team in TX the past several years. -
Yep. If "guardrails" are installed by the UIL, then they have to apply to everyone, inner city HISD and Dallas ISD included.

I think TAM should have elevated Bobby Petrino to HC. Yeah, yeah I know there is some baggage in the past, but it is past. Think if they could tread water with Petrino for a few years at just 2M/yr, it would greatly mitigate the burden of paying JBF off. Who knows, Petrino, finally rid of JBF hanging over him could do pretty well. The dude can coach and at 62 he still has some gas in the tank. Petrino for 5 years would only cost TAM 10M total. Then at that time JBF is almost paid off and TAM could move forward. Otherwise they will have to pay out another JBF size salary (~10M/yr) for a new coach along with paying off JBF for the next 7 years. -

I understand Fulshear is definitely going 6A. -
Columbus has some good football DNA in it. Their coach Matt Schobel played for the Bengals and Eagles, and there are two Schobel kids on the team. One of the Houston TV stations did a short feature about them. Interesting game for sure.

East Chambers vs. Palestine Westwood
Separation Scientist replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Football
12 does have Columbus, they are very tough. In any case 9-11-12 are all real deal competitors. Statewide, 10 would be a better fit in 2A ball. -

PG blew Rusk out of the stadium, 61-7. Rusk isn't going anywhere soon. I wonder if the Barriers regret moving from Anahuac. -

Correct, 0-4. Some here did not like it when I said this district melts like a sno-cone in the August heat once the playoffs begin, but its the truth. Even if someone goes a chest thumpin' 10-0 in this district it's all but meaningless. 9 is much better than 10, and 11 and 12 are much better than 9. The only district in the state weaker than 10 is District 16 in the RGV. -

Budgeting, and practicality. Especially out west.

In that case I believe it best left up to that ISD to decide. They know whats best for them. We are talking west TX after all. A 3A playing in 6A is probabaly less worse than having that 3A travel 300 miles for every game in every sport every time. That 3A won't win State even if placed in 3A anyway. Then, they need to rebalance if possible going forward.

I sincerely felt bad for the Forney fans last year. Long drive down to play BH, then long rain delay, then played and lost in the rain with the game ending after 10pm IIRC. So its after 10 and they are soaked to the bone 4+ hours from home.
