5AD1 District 8 and Region 2 discussion.
Separation Scientist replied to Cougtalk's topic in High School Football
Thats right. NRG had a "one and done" opportunity to cash in from the UIL that year, and they took advantage of it. I think NRG correctly surmised they would not have a realistic chance at getting the State games rotated around to them in the future regardless how well they accommodated the UIL, so they were not concerned about whatever opinion the UIL would have of them going forward from that point. The UIL is all in with AT&T and NRG knew it. -

Yes I was at almost every game you mentioned, and more. I am well aware more games were played there after 16. I think the decision came gradually. The State games were not the sole deciding factor. You are correct, it was not decided to shut them down right afterwards. Some games at NRG were decently attended, some were not. The history was iffy. Janice McNair, Bobs widow, owns the Texans, and Cal McNair, the son, runs the franchise. The actual owner of NRG is Harris Country Sports and Convention Corp., though. HCSCC would have the final say on any HS games being held at NRG, or not. Cal's opinion on HS games (if he even has one) would be important I am sure, but he would not ultimately make the final decision. Cal is way more low profile than Jerry, of course. No huge ego to feed. -

Actually that would be Joe Biden. See our southern non-border. Under Biden, the drug cartels, fentanal traffickers, and human traffickers have increased dramatically. Joe makes it all happen. -

Two reasons I would suggest. First NRG does not have a driving ego behind it, like Jerry Jones who has a burning desire to dominate everything. Second, NRG was not well attended when it hosted the State games a few years ago. Ironically, this is the fault of the DFW and north TX fans who largely failed to make the trip down to Houston. This hurt NRG's profits, and NRG learned a monetary lesson through this. Conversely, the support of Houston (and CenTex) fans who do travel to AT&T yearly supports HS games up there. Funny how it worked out, the fickle, lazy DFW fans might have cost Houston area teams the opportunity to play indoors at home in NRG. -

Its very hard to be "mad" or worried about "$$$" while living on The Hill. I have no idea what you are trying to claim. Please explain what you mean. Thanks -

Yeah we are busted. p We used to bribe refs for just $100 a game in the 90's. In the 2000's it steadily went up, reaching $150 bribe per ref by 2010. In 2020 when inflation really began to hit, dang greedy refs started demanding $200 per game! For 2022, its getting just outrageous. They now want a $250 per per person per game bribe, AND $50 extra gas money, AND a case of bud light for the crew. That's a whopping $300+ for each ref. Next thing they will all want free shrimp platters at Floyds on I-10 after the game. A win now cost BH several thousands in ref bribes alone. I hope these guys will let us pay using PayPal or Venmo going forward. I just hate carrying around thousands of dollars of green cash in dark parking lots after the game. Dang it! -

LOL. 100% False. That non existent home cooking never ever helps. I have seen an opponents knee go down on the 1 YL at a crucial point and the refs gave them a game turning score. Where was it then? But I am glad that fallacy is in your head, though, whoever you support. Its fun to believe it, LOL -

Since 5A-1 is now placed in Region 2, it will make for some good reading. Thanks. -
Cougar14.2 would be a great person to step up and do these previews. He has tons of FB knowledge and is passionate about analyzing teams. Or maybe split it up and let Cougar 14.2 do the large schools (4A, 5A. 6A) and let someone else (maybe RETIREDFAN1?) do the small ones (1A, 2A, 3A).

Predictions for district 9-5A DII
Separation Scientist replied to prepballfan's topic in High School Football
As far as their history, you could easily look that up. As for last year, FBM was undefeated, ranked Top Ten, had a lot of blow out wins, and they were highly hyped in print and TV media. Then BH happened to them in the 1st round. The fact that BH beat them is not totally shocking, but the way they did was eye popping. BH simply ran right through them. I don't think 9-5A-ll teams have to be terrified out of their minds. The reason I comment on this is to give our former district mates in 9-5A-ll some encouragement. I will still support our former district rivals. -
Predictions for district 9-5A DII
Separation Scientist replied to prepballfan's topic in High School Football
I don't know what FBM has coming back, but they are not nearly as tough as their reputation. They were undefeated and supposed to effortlessly roll over 5-5 BH in the 1st round of the playoffs last year, but BH came out and punched them in their mouth and doubled them up 42-21. This illustrates how a weak district does not get you ready. A gaudy 10-0 record does not mean a thing if you don't play anyone. 9-5A-ll is wide open. -

I only responded because YOU ASKED about 2018 (only). If you somehow want to gloat about all the destruction of America the DIMS have caused lately, that's your problem and its a deep one. Personally I don't look back, I look forward. Better days for the USA is ahead. The trash is about to be swept out. -
