District 22-6A Predictions
Separation Scientist replied to dBerrySports's topic in High School Football
Nothing could be keener than to be in "Pasadeener" in the morn-ing. Sorry, I know that flew over 90% of heads here. 😀 -
Dave Campbell 2021 3A D2 preseason top 10
Separation Scientist replied to lionpride08's topic in High School Football
I can see that too. ^^^ I think every one agrees Franklin is 1 and the 2-5 teams are the same four regardless how they are ordered. Then I think there is a real gap between 2-5 and 6-10. -

Canadian seemed to be emotionally hung over from their huge win over Gunter the week before. They played uncharacteristically flat until the 2nd half. The mark of a great team though is being able to reach for the gas and find it at crunch time, and they were able to do it. -

I think DCTF has it exactly right. Finalist Franklin, if I recall, had almost everyone coming back, while Canadian had a Senior heavy State Champion team. Gunter will be revenge minded in the semis after Canadian blasted them 33-6 last year. The athleticism of Waskom and Newton will always have those two in the hunt. -
CARL ABSECK NAMED NEW AD/HFC AT BARBERS HILL

I think you are right. They would likely be favored against KP only, in the first half of the season. They probably will be 1-4 overall. After that you have a battle hardened BH team 1-1 in district play and ready for their next 5 district games. -

I am sure the BH fan base will not judge Abseck on just the first half of his first season. Even if BH does start 1-4, they are likely 1-1 in district and may very well make the playoffs. Want to bet against it? Years 2 and on will likely be even better under Abseck. Again, clearly this Abseck hire has rattled you. -
DCTF 5A preseason rankings

Generally they have not been mentioned along with the usual DFW suspects, like Allen, HP, Aledo, Duncanville, Argyle, etc. I think they are about to join the conversation. -

I am hearing some good things about Lovejoy from a friend up in DFW. He tells me they are flying under the radar but coming on strong. In the next few years they will be a force to be reckoned with. -

I'll roll with College Station. They will be a tough out. -

Well, I will give you this, you shoot straight about it. That's better than those who deny the obvious truth about players from other areas and schools transferring in to build up their program. It does make you wonder what Crosby and Goose Creek for that matter would be like if they all stayed at home. -

WHEW! At least they didn't transfer for athletic purposes!!! LOL -

I noticed that too. They do some homework but rely on number of returning starters a bit much. Sometimes it highly correlates, but no guarantee. -

Calallen is fine until they get out of the valley. Then in round 3-4 reality sets in. I think there is a significant gap between Argyle and everyone else. I would have Melissa 2 and WLV 3. -

Word! Why aren't people scrutinizing BU and PAM etc. about their lack of athletic diversity? Why aren't people scrutinizing the constantly unsuccessful Hispanic HISD teams about their lack of diversity? You never hear any of that. I don't know why EVERYTHING has to be about race, but if it really, really does, lets take a hard look: 6A-I: Westlake 52 (almost all white) Southlake Carroll 34 (almost all white) 6A-II Katy 51 (mostly white but call it Mixed) Cedar Hill 14 (all black) 5A-I Denton Ryan 59 (mostly black) Cedar Park (mostly white) 14 5A-II Aledo 56 (almost all white) Crosby 21 (mixed) 4A-I Argyle 49 (all white?) Lindale 21 (mixed) 4A-II Carthage 70 (mixed) Gilmer 14 (mixed) On top of that, the two 3A Champs, Jim Ned and Canadian were all white So your 8 winners in the 4 largest classifications are White or mostly white - 5 teams Mixed - 2 teams Black - 1 team Bottom line is, white teams did very well in 2020-21 but almost anyone can win in any year. So, why are people sooo compelled to pick apart the "white teams" but stay stone cold silent on all black and all hispanic teams that don't win big? Lets put race aside. Let BH be BH, let BU be BU, and let everyone else just be who they are without racial judgment. Lets put race aside just enjoy the games! -

There will be an adjustment period. It will take until mid district for sure. Glancing at the schedule, I would not be surprised to see an 0-3 start for BH before things start to come together. District is all that matters though. -

Nothing to expand on, really. The hire looks clinically perfect, BH perhaps found the best candidate, period. Love the outsider element of it. Seems nothing influenced any decision except for the inherent merits of the candidate. Sorry, I didn't mean to imply anything or make waves, that was not my intent. Just impressed with the hire, thats all. Good luck BH! -

The more I look at Abseck, the more impressed I am. Also want to say great job by BH for reaching to the outside to find a great candidate, and not making a good old boy, nepotism type hire. With all the growth in place, I think the Eagles can do very well in the years ahead. -
