So, any legit rumors on who might replace TW? Could the DC someone mentioned earlier be a candidate to take over? -

People will go to where the jobs are, and as long as the Beaumont Port Arthur area has a large part of the population hostile to industry, and their largest schools are a wreck, stagnation and decline will continue. Companies know this. Sad thing is this bad attitude ends up hurting the good people living there that do want to work and grow. The rest are content to just hang out and collect government money for not working. -
Thrilling game and great win by BH Lady Eagles! [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] I was amazed how tolerant the umpire crew was with Lake Creek coach Michelle Rochinski. I have never seen coaches of softball or baseball repetitively charge across the infield stopping play and confront the base umpires multiple times without even asking for a timeout. She wanted every single call to go her way, and appealed a number of calls. She whined about everything. I commend BH coach Aaron Fuller. He coaches with class and professionalism, and I congratulate the Lady Eagles on two great games against a previously undefeated opponent!

I did not imply that "all" apartments are Section 8. I mentioned trailer parks, too. Its about the tax base, and I thought I had clearly stated that. As far as BHISD buying tracts ups, maybe they ARE trying to lessen traffic, not in the roadways but in the hallways of their schools. BH is building on as fast and furious as they can, so do you think they want to be flooded with hundreds and hundreds more students before the new construction is even complete? Not everything is always about football, believe it or not. Sounds like prudent planning, IMO. -
Yes it was. Game was a scoreless pitching dual through 6, then previously undefeated Lake Creek made some fielding errors and BH scored 3 in the 7th. It looked like the game was over then, but BH pitching got tired and walked the bases loaded with no outs! Relief pitcher then recorded 3 consecutive K's to shut the door on Lake Creek. Game 2 Thursday evening at 5.

I don't live there, but I think it is a great community with a great school. I wish you all the very best. -

My take is Barbers Hill wants to remain a community with a high tax base. The average owner in a 300K house pays more into the system than the "public assistance" people in apartments or in trailer parks. Also, the roads are way overburdened with all the growth that has gone on there over the past 25 years. It used to be a bunch of rice fields left and right of I-10, but now new homes are everywhere. Why would they want to add apartments to an already overgrown area? Common sense, not an "ism" agenda some are trying to accuse them of. -

To 14.2 credit he did label that long post as "Totally unverifiable". It seems to me that the unidentified "football guy" he references apparently has some kind of ax to grind against the BH schools administration, and/or is a staunch Westerberg defender, trying to make excuses for the past 5 years. In either case, as I said earlier, what's done is done, BH simply needs to move on. The $2 million the Westerbergs raked in can't be un-spent, and TW hire of 5 years ago can't be undone, but BH can make a better choice in the future. BH simply needs to think deeply about the new hire, and don't get bedazzled with a falsely glitzy resume. Hire a hungry, young, up and coming candidate who can maximize the program with the young men at hand. Riordan is definitely worth a look. -

That's a real good thought. Snelson should be on the short list for sure. -

Keep in mind this is an open forum for all fans, not limited to any particular schools insiders. Expect anyone to talk about anything, don't take it personal, its just how these work. TW was a high profile hire that made news around the whole state, and his subsequent performance and eventual leaving is just as news worthy, too. As I said, I hope BH makes a wiser hire this time, and brings someone in who can develop the program to the max. -

Thats right. I am sure TW is an decent coach but the powers that be at BH completely failed to realize he was not going to have a Kyler Murray & co. to coach when they made the hiring decision 5 years ago. When that hire was made, I had this very discussion with a co-worker from BH and I told him that very thing. TW without Murray & co. is just an ordinary coach, but got paid an extraordinary price simply due to the perception of being elite. An ideal candidate for BH would be someone similar to the late Jeff Walker from Liberty Hill. That was truly a great coach that over-performed with only average talent to work with. I hope BH has learned from this very expensive lesson, and will make a great, thoughtful hire. -

It might have happened in the same time frame, but did TW personally build it? Could it been built without him? Also note new schools are under construction, with or without TW. Thank your taxpayers, not TW. -

"Great"? Hardly. You should think before you make a statement like that. Samples built up Duncanville by running around south of I-20 collecting talent from places like Cedar Hill, DeSoto, and Lancaster, not by coaching. Samples would be another overhyped candidate with a glitzy resume. Thats the last thing BH needs after Westerberg. -

Thats exactly right. He underperformed. I don't blame BH for swinging for the fences 5 years ago. BH wanted to make a "big splash" with the hire and they did. The Westerberg hire did put BH on the statewide football map for all of 15 minutes of fame, but it ended there. Their intention was good but their thought process was quite flawed. Apparently they did not comprehend Westerberg was basically an illusion, without Kyler Murray surrounded by other move in talent at Allen, Westerberg would not have had a prayer of winning state. On the other side of the equation, it has been a bonanza for Westerberg. He came for the money and wow did he rake it in. Someone said 2 million in total compensation for the Westerbergs, with $666,667 per playoff win. Tell that result to BH five years ago and they would have run from Westerberg. Its time to move on for BH. They can't un-spend the money or undo the hire, so all they can do is move on and make wiser choices in the future. BH should focus on "bang for the buck", and not let themselves be infatuated with overhyped candidates with glitzy resumes.
