Abseck would be a great hire. Cedar Park plays smart and hard. High energy! -

We are in a RAIN DELAY Thursday at 1 pm. Word from Rains ISD is a 2:30 restart. -
Frisco is probably the most insane place in the state right now.

Not sure of the rankings but West Sabine arrived undefeated at 38-0 and lost today. Throw the rakings out because in a single game anything can happen. -

WS fought hard but it was just not their day. Still a remarkable season! -
CARL ABSECK NAMED NEW AD/HFC AT BARBERS HILL

Today almost everyone makes the playoffs. Any decent team ought to win a first round game in their sleep. Its that easy. First round opponents are usually pushovers. In the last five years BH has had one 2nd round win. One. Two years of TW's five, they missed the playoffs entirely. Its that the goal if you hire supposedly the most elite coach in the state? Who said "Metroplex HS Football and southeast Texas football are similar" anyway? I never hear that at all. -

I noticed that too. -

That's the whole point. They need energy from a young coach who can maximize the potential of the team "as is" without relying on imported talent. -

BH just beat out Lake Creek, and Lake was previously undefeated, so I don't think any of the rankings or records mean much at this point. Also in a one game playoff anything can happen. -

I appreciate the confidence in BH but I just don't know who is the favorite. I think you throw the season records out at this point. Also, teams from different regions face different levels of opposition, and some have much stronger pre-district opponents too. A 32-8 team could be stronger than a 40-0 team, in some circumstances. Its cool Deer Park, BH and Liberty will all be there. I will support them all. -

I'll be there supporting Barbers Hill! Q: Do you (or anyone else) know if a ticket to the early game will allow you to stay for the next game or two? Or do they intend on clearing the stands between games? -

So, any legit rumors on who might replace TW? Could the DC someone mentioned earlier be a candidate to take over? -

People will go to where the jobs are, and as long as the Beaumont Port Arthur area has a large part of the population hostile to industry, and their largest schools are a wreck, stagnation and decline will continue. Companies know this. Sad thing is this bad attitude ends up hurting the good people living there that do want to work and grow. The rest are content to just hang out and collect government money for not working. -
Thrilling game and great win by BH Lady Eagles! [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] I was amazed how tolerant the umpire crew was with Lake Creek coach Michelle Rochinski. I have never seen coaches of softball or baseball repetitively charge across the infield stopping play and confront the base umpires multiple times without even asking for a timeout. She wanted every single call to go her way, and appealed a number of calls. She whined about everything. I commend BH coach Aaron Fuller. He coaches with class and professionalism, and I congratulate the Lady Eagles on two great games against a previously undefeated opponent!

I did not imply that "all" apartments are Section 8. I mentioned trailer parks, too. Its about the tax base, and I thought I had clearly stated that. As far as BHISD buying tracts ups, maybe they ARE trying to lessen traffic, not in the roadways but in the hallways of their schools. BH is building on as fast and furious as they can, so do you think they want to be flooded with hundreds and hundreds more students before the new construction is even complete? Not everything is always about football, believe it or not. Sounds like prudent planning, IMO. -
Yes it was. Game was a scoreless pitching dual through 6, then previously undefeated Lake Creek made some fielding errors and BH scored 3 in the 7th. It looked like the game was over then, but BH pitching got tired and walked the bases loaded with no outs! Relief pitcher then recorded 3 consecutive K's to shut the door on Lake Creek. Game 2 Thursday evening at 5.

I don't live there, but I think it is a great community with a great school. I wish you all the very best. -

My take is Barbers Hill wants to remain a community with a high tax base. The average owner in a 300K house pays more into the system than the "public assistance" people in apartments or in trailer parks. Also, the roads are way overburdened with all the growth that has gone on there over the past 25 years. It used to be a bunch of rice fields left and right of I-10, but now new homes are everywhere. Why would they want to add apartments to an already overgrown area? Common sense, not an "ism" agenda some are trying to accuse them of. -

To 14.2 credit he did label that long post as "Totally unverifiable". It seems to me that the unidentified "football guy" he references apparently has some kind of ax to grind against the BH schools administration, and/or is a staunch Westerberg defender, trying to make excuses for the past 5 years. In either case, as I said earlier, what's done is done, BH simply needs to move on. The $2 million the Westerbergs raked in can't be un-spent, and TW hire of 5 years ago can't be undone, but BH can make a better choice in the future. BH simply needs to think deeply about the new hire, and don't get bedazzled with a falsely glitzy resume. Hire a hungry, young, up and coming candidate who can maximize the program with the young men at hand. Riordan is definitely worth a look.
