NBA Playoffs 2022
BEARCPA replied to Mr. Buddy Garrity's topic in Professional Sports- NFL, NBA, MLB, Etc
Totally agree with this and with Buddy's statement about Ayton making Dallas' defense better. I'm surprised Dallas' lack of rim protection hasn't been exploited yet in the playoffs, but I'm sure Kerr will scheme something up to take advantage of it in this round. I just don't think that Ayton will be in their price range if he makes it to free agency. The Mavs have some tough choices to make this summer (and not a lot of cap flexibility) about adding a solid big man and keeping Brunson. Gun to my head I think I'd rather re-sign Brunson because having a solid secondary ball-handler/playmaker next to Luka will be key to their long term success. Solid big men that are lob threats and paint defenders can be had for a fraction of the price of offensive creators. -

I actually don't think there are very many rational people that would argue this (besides Celtics/Tatum and Warriors/Curry fans). -

Very happy I was wrong here -
I don't think any of the other sports had to deal with injuries and covid on the scale that men's basketball did. Just absolutely terrible luck on those fronts. They should bounce back nicely next season if their luck improves.

Game 2 Huffman vs BC. HUFFMAN WINS SERIES 2-1

My dad took the L in that '74 semifinal - outfielder (who he's still friends with) dropped an easy fly ball that let the go-ahead run score in the 8th inning. Dad always lets him hear about that error when they get into friendly arguments lol. -

At least Brothers's crew was *mostly* consistent with their calls going both ways last night. Still way too many cheap fouls called though. Phoenix is just in a completely different weight class than Dallas, and probably the rest of the league. Nobody is beating them in a seven game series if they keep playing like this. -
Now Sark doesn't have to take the blame for going 5-7 because he inherited a team with no upperclassmen talent lol.

I think the Celtics would beat the Bucks in 6 or 7 games even with Mid playing. -
Could be wrong but I think he was referencing the hypothetical situation of LCM and Lumberton being tied after district play. LCM would advance to the playoffs in that instance because they beat Lumberton both times. Its a moot point now because LCM won last night and Lumberton can't catch them anymore. I believe you are correct in that LCM and Vidor would play a win-or-go-home game for 4th place if they end up tied after this week.

Is it another case of small town "politics" ruining a good thing?

Gotta think KD is regretting his move from Golden State to Brooklyn. Celtics made his life hell on offense this series and he had no help to bail him out. -

God no lol. Rudy would definitely make the Mavs better, but I don't want any part of his mammoth contract on the Mavs' books. -
I love that Wright did it this way - makes Coach K look even more like a narcissist lol.

Bulls definitely have a chance to win the series now with Middleton's MCL injury. -

Can't believe the Bulls are the only lower seed to win a game so far in the East. -
Yepp, I think there are a decent amount of studies out there that show that recruits who play multiple sports in high school end up being more successful at their main sport when they get to college.

Huge performances from Kleber and Brunson. Love seeing them play so well considering their past playoff struggles. The open 3s will be there all series for the Mavs as long as the Jazz's perimeter defense lets every ballhandler blow by them and force Gobert to help at the rim. -

I can see Arceneaux becoming Herb Jones 2.0 over these next few years once he gets more time playing perimeter defense, along with adding a little bulk in the weight room. TA is already a smart offensive player that can knock down 3s. Pelicans found a gem getting Jones in the 2nd round last year. -
I'm patiently waiting for Lumberton folks to get on here and give us their rebuttals lol.

Thought they were toast when KAT fouled out, great effort by the Wolves to pull that out. Both 2-7 series are going to be really fun. I got Celtics in 7 and Grizz in 6. -

Could be wrong but I think he was speaking from PAM's perspective. -
Overall .284 batting average - not bad but not great. Down from last year's average (.286) but higher than the average of the rest of Davis's years (.270).
