  1. well apparently by luck or for whatever reason, it "just so happens" with or without coin flip that team with most losses becomes 4th vs 1 seed (team with best record) team with 2nd best record is 2 seed playing against 3rd best record (3 seed). a coin flip until I read that also over at the other site I never heard of. I just go by the simple method of the teams records they use. the four years in a row Jasper Lady Dawgs went to state tourney and the 3 times(that are relevant) Jasper has went baseball State tourney 07,10 and 2018 the team records decided seeding. in 07 when Jasper won baseball title we were 4 seed because we had most losses, so on and so forth. in 2018 it's how we got to play that monster of a team Argyle had.
  2. while in the rankings have them one and two the method the UIL uses as they do in all boys and girls sports goes by team win/loss records for seedings. so by the fact HJ has the most "L" of the four teams is how they get Argyle. yes, from entertainment value it sucks, but if a team is truly the best team when it's all said and done beats whoever they play and the champ will be holding the 🏆 Good luck lady HJ players! Great season and I hope it ends with State Championship.
  3. Let me start with this. I personally don't know Thorton in any shape, format or fashion(that I an aware of). Can't tell ya if he/she has been to one, every or any Jasper Bulldogs football games. I do know Thorton has made some positive and supportive post on Jasper threads and the one particular post you quoted then responded with a confrontational tone was/is a fair reasonable post. Cause I am gonna tell ya right here and now Jasper fans including myself at sometime wondered the same thing. You know why? for the very reasons you named. The words clout, success, and tradition . I even said myself that when your last name is synonymous with a coaching legend it helps in regards to getting jobs. to think otherwise is foolish. Yes,Darrell had above .500 success before he got to Jasper and had earned his own way. While here he won alot of games and stayed in line with the winning tradition synonymous (I noticed you like that word) associated with the Barbay name. Tradition, success, by default brings with it EXPECTATIONS! Four out of 10 seasons Darrell coached here in Jasper he had the young men to go farther than the 3rd of playoffs '13,'14,17, and 18(BTW, the Silver&Blue ended two of those seasons). Myself,(and to make it clear don't let my current ID fool ya, I have been around this forum a pretty good while. I used to be JasperDAWG but I broke some rules and was shunned for a period) and the handful of true Jasper fans who regularly post here have NEVER bashed Barbay if anyone come close it was probably me. Have we questioned some things he did, of course. Just like fans of WOS did to Coach T and that man did nothing but in 11 short years as Coach there put together a hall of fame career. Since Darrell left, and I remind you he left on his own on a Thursday to take a job and start the Tuesday following. Yet, us Jasper posters [or maybe nit wits as you say] have made a point publicly to wish him well. after this past season where in 3 games (so badly that other teams fans said they felt bad for our players) Darell Barbay basically conceded games. I had mentioned he looked like a coach trying to get season over with so he could retire Then look what happened. So all the Barbay family tree you spoke of and the success. Guess what? the Barbay member we experienced has a third round ceiling, conceded games(so it appeared in multiple seasons), and then leaves our kids(yes we parents as well) on what 4-5 days notice. None of which are synonymous with the Barbay name. So how and/or why come November(ironically the month Darrell could NOT get us passed) will you be telling us " I told ya so" ?
  4. 🙂 yesssss sirrrrrr!! aka Building a Program. from our young 7th and 8 th graders on up! development of players on both sides of the ball, finding the best position each player to go with their personal skills and abilities. learning the offense and/or defense that has been implemented from day one and only get better running them. it's been since Coach Walkoviak since Jasper has had that. the focus on strength and conditioning is a top notch plus as well.
  5. my bad MBG. I hope that not only is your bday but the entire month is FANTABULOUS!! being that my wife of 19 years has reminded me of March at least 30 days in advance like she has for 20 years(we dated 1 year before hitching up). I shouldn't ever in any shape, form, or fashion throw shade on this month. (her bday is the 10th). lol
  6. 21 games. not everyone would/will consider that "well above" .500 it is though for sure better than 21 below .500
  7. if that is what you are looking for, I'm your huckleberry. if/when Crumedy gets hired tonight (even though the young man has put his time into his education and proven to be a competent coordinator for about a decade). I have not a problem if that were the only reason(last name) he was hired. Ya, know why? He is a hometown guy, and by that fact people who know, taught, went to church or simply a friend with him can account for his character. Because humans both men and women lie. Numbers when presented correctly never lie. As I said earlier on this thread I will take a clean slate over the combined records of the other "finalist".
  8. My friend, I agree. ESPECIALLY! when the opportunity to have had a Rusty Nail or a W T Johnson but you instead chose Mike Bickham. That choice lead to a two year train wreck of leadership.
  9. whether or not that is what he is implying, when your father is a coaching legend throughout the state, it helps. Regardless what your coaching record is.
  10. I am not excited whatsoever, but less than 12 hours from now.....
  11. Pragg, as he is called isn't a slouch himself. Pointing out Carlsen is/was recovering and it was an online 3 am game seems as though you are throwing shade on Pragg. Maybe you are not aware that at just 10 years old he became a Grandmaster and is the youngest international Grandmaster ever. Maybe you are aware. I think though if we want to discuss further that we do it in more appropriate forum/thread. 😉 Have a FANTABULOUS day.
  12. I truly am saddened to hear that about your friend. it makes my heart ache, because I have also watched that cruel disease slowly debilitate probably the most fun, yet so pure friend of mine up until he was killed in an auto accident.
  13. off topic briefly. what about the 16 year old (from India) beating Magnus Carlsen(# 1 ranked in the world since 2011) ? 😲 * chess
  14. lol. my friend you must have missed my post about February 28th 6pm school board meeting. A hire will be made then.
  15. Such hostility! why so, my friendly fan of the Purple Beast to our East? Trust me when I say Bulldogs92 is one of the last people (especially on this website) to be looking for confrontation . His post is genuinely out of curiosity.
  16. hey DAWGS fans! can any of ya tell me what Terence Davis did to become only the third in school history to so? Big John Davis caught/scored the game winning TD in 2002 NFC Championship game to send Tampa to SuperBowl vs Oakland Letter in 4 sports. football, basketball, baseball & track(Terence)
  17. He was very well capable for sure. The guys who were the ones to break record though were Charles Adams Terrance Davis (future NFL & Arena League player) John Davis (future NFL player) Bryan Bronson (future Olympian)
