  1. WOW, I can't believe it's UFC 90. I can remember UFC 1, 2, and 3 like it was yesterday. I don't know how long everyone has been fans of the UFC, but it sure has changed. When it first started it was a tournament of 8 fighters (I think) that fought untimed matches. The only rules were; no biting and no eye gouging. There were kicks and punches everywhere, and I do mean everywhere. The matches were very brutal. Some of the matches were over very quickly but some lasted 30+ minutes. If you won your first match you fought another. Some winning fighters would be hurt or just too exhausted to continue in the tournament so a replacement fighter would take his place in the next fight. Royce Gracie used to dominate because of his ground game. Everyone now days, even the worst fighter, has a ground game. I realize that the event changed so it could go mainstream, I just can't believe it is at UFC 90 already.
  2. I'm going with Tampa Bay. Supposedly the RANGERS are following Tampa's blueprint. If the Rays win that means the mighty TEXAS RANGERS will win in a few years. Let's go Rays!!! ;D

  6. Sorry guys, this game will be over by halftime. WOS wins by 40 or more. If BC scores, it will be 7 or less.
  7. I'll take the mustangs in this one.
  8. A good hard rain is the ultimate equalizer. Espically in today's football with spread teams and passing games. The rain normally slows everyone down and takes away athleticism. The solid rain will normally bring out a running game and then it's left up to, who's the toughest.
  9. Going with the Hawks!!!

  11. I don't think he will play that long but I do wish he was the one with the all-time HR record. I also wish he would take a paycut and sign with the TEXAS RANGERS. He could take Milton Bradley's place as the DH. The Rangers Ballpark in Arlington has the home run porch in right which fits perfectly for JR's swing. I realize this is just a wish so I will be happy where ever he goes. Just as long as we get to keep seeing the "greatest swing in baseball."
  12. I'll take the Hawks.

  21. What are the exact dates of this tournament?
  22. This RANGERS' team is very exciting and a lot of fun to watch. They are still a couple of years away from the playoffs but they are giving the fans something to look forward to. I really like seeing the young talent that this team has. The pitching staff is still below average but help is coming from the minors. The middle infield is as good as any in the league with Michael Young and Ian Kinsler. The outfield has 5 players (Milton Bradley, Josh Hamilton, Brandon Boggs, David Murphy, Marlon Byrd) that can go get a ball and hit. Catching is no longer a problem with Gerald Laird and the two youngsters: Jarod Saltalamacchia and Max Rameriz. It looks like Chirs Davis is the future at first base. The only question is at 3rd. Does Ramon Vazquez continue to play the 3 bag when Hank Blalock comes off the DL? Blalock could be a good DH in Arlington but he made be traded for prospects. Whatever happens it's fun to have the RANGERS playing good baseball again. There's no team in the league that wants to play these guys.
  23. Sweetest swing in the game!!! Congrats Junior. I hope he catches on with an American League team, as a DH, when he's through playing the outfield. I want to see him hit till he's 50.
  24. Bearkats Baseball wins Southland tournament title HUNTSVILLE – Designated hitter Bobby Verbick went 2-for-4 with four RBIs including a home run to lead Sam Houston State to a 15-7 victory over Lamar in the finals of the Southland Conference post-season tournament at Don Sanders Stadium Saturday. Sam Houston State (36-23) won the tournament for the second year in a row, earning another trip to the NCAA Division I baseball playoffs. The Bearkats reached the NCAA Regional finals at Ole Miss last year. The Bearkats’ NCAA playoff first round opponent and regional site will be announced Monday on ESPN. Verbick, who posted 10 RBIs and two home runs in Sam Houston’s four tournament games, was named as SLC Tournament “Most Valuable Player.†The Bearkats, who totaled 17 hits in the game, broke open a 1-1 tie with six runs in the sixth inning. Shortstop Ryan Weber went 4-for-5 with 3 RBIs and catcher Heath Pugh was 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Todd Sebek, Seth Hammock, Ryan Trevino, and Nick Zaleski each had two hits. Zach Neal pitched the first four innings. Dallas Gallant (9-3), who pitched a complete game in Sam Houston’s opening round victory over Northwestern State Thursday, picked up the victory Saturday with two innings relief work. Zac Baker finished the game. Lamar (35-23) totaled 15 hits. Starter Tim Erickson (8-3), the 2008 Southland Conference “Pitcher of the Year†took the loss, giving up eight runs and eight hits in four innings. Other members of the 2008 Southland All-Tournament Team were catcher Ben Theriot of Texas State, first baseman Trent Lockwood of UTSA, second baseman Brian Taylor of Lamar, third baseman Seth Hammock of Sam Houston, shortstop Ryan Weber of Sam Houston, outfielders Keith Stein of Sam Houston, Chase Williams of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, and David Moore of Lamar, and pitchers Brian Sisk of Lamar and Dallas Gallant of Sam Houston. Sam Houston swept through the tournament unbeaten in four games for the second year in a row, outscoring the competition 42-15.
