  4. Your right, I don't remember. That's why I said that I'm not sure about Huffman. Meaning that I don't know enough about Huffman to give an opinion.

  7. Sam Houston sweeps Saturday doubleheader 16-3 and 6-3 after falling Friday night 5-2 Don Sanders Stadium LIVE STATS FOR SATURDAY'S GAME NCAA BOX SCORE: Sam Houston 16, Army 3 NCAA BOX SCORE: Sam Houston 6, Army 3 HUNTSVILLE -- Bobby Verbick hit a three-run home run and Nick Zeleski added a two-run homer to sparke an 11-run fifth inning as Sam Houston State defeated Army 16-3 in the first game of a Saturday doubleheader at Don Sanders Stadium. Clint Mann batted in runs in the third and sixth innings and Todd Sebek and Stephen Spaugh added run scoring singles to lead the Bearkats to a 6-3 victory in the nightcap. Sam Houston (3-4) took two of the three games in the series with Army (1-2). In the first game, the Bearkats produced 16 runs off 13 hits, three Army errors, and three hit batsmen. Jesse Marshall (1-1) gave up only eight hits in seven innings to pick up the victory. Cole White (0-1) was the loser. Zac Baker pitched the final two innings in relief for Sam Houston, allowing only one hit. Zaleski went three for four and Verbick, Karl Krailo, and Aaron Cook each had two hits. The 11-run fourth inning marked the biggest inning for the Kats since Sam Houston State scored 12 runs in the second inning of a victory over Texas-San Antonio at Holleman Field in 1996. The school record for runs in an inning is 18 against Saint Thomas in 1968. The 11 runs Saturday stands fourth in the Bearkat record books. Tim Gray (1-0) got the victory as the starter in the second game, striking out three and giving up only three hits in five innings. Luke Prihoda pitched the final four innings for the save. Win-Gray(1-0) Save-Prihoda(1) Loss-Mayhew(0-1) T-2:35 A-263 NCAA BOX SCORE: Army 5, Sam Houston 2 February 17, 2007 By Tom Waddill, Huntsville Item Kyle Scogin and Tony Capozzi each hit run-scoring singles and J P Polchinski accounted for another run in a three-run sixth inning to power Army to a 5-2 victory over Sam Houston State in the season opener for the Black Knights Friday night at Don Sanders Stadium. Black Knights left-hander Nick Hill combined with three relievers to pretty much silence Sam Houston State in a 5-2 win for Army. SHSU junior Bobby Verbick collected two hits, including a first-inning double, but Army's pitchers shut out the Kats (1-4) for eight innings before the home team finally scratched two runs in their final at-bat. The two teams play a doubleheader today starting at 2 p.m. on Military Appreciation Day in Huntsville. “Their left-hander (Hill) was pretty good,†SHSU coach Mark Johnson said after his team managed just six hits. “We didn't put the ball in play as well as we should have.†Sophomore righty Jacob Howard (1-1) suffered the loss for SHSU, which has dropped three straight decisions. Howard battled, but Army hung three runs on the board in the sixth. The Black Knights (1-0) didn't hit Howard hard, but they did get five hits in the frame to break open a scoreless contest. SHSU could have escaped Army's biggest inning allowing only one run, but the Bearkats botched a squeeze bunt play with one out when no one covered first base. After the Black Knights scored their second run on a sacrifice fly, they pushed another run across when Tony Capozzi singled to right. On a two-run single by Cole White, Army added two more runs in the seventh off SHSU reliever Matt Fry. Johnson said he was again pleased with Howard's performance. Last weekend, the sophomore from West Columbia fired six shutout innings in the Kats' 8-0 win over Brigham Young. On Friday, Howard gave up six hits, three runs and three walks, while striking out four. “Jacob gave us a chance to win the ballgame,†Johnson said. “He gave us a chance to take the lead and win.†SHSU simply didn't capitalize on a couple of early scoring opportunities, and their ninth-inning rally came up a tad short. Lefty Drew Clothier pitched Army out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the ninth to get a save. “In Friday night games, you've typically got to get your bunt plays down and do the little things right,†Johnson said. “I was pleased with Jacob's performance, but give Army credit. They did the little things right tonight. I'll be disappointed if we don't come back and give them a better challenge tomorrow.†Johnson said senior left-hander Jesse Marshall will start today's first game. Senior righty Timothy Gray will pitch the nightcap for SHSU.
  8. I'm not sure about Huffman, but it sounds like BH has quality pitching. I can see BH going 3-4 rounds in the playoffs.
  9. I'll go with the Hawks by 8.

  11. Let me get this right; this was a scrimmage with no umpires and there are people on here acting like it's the World Series. WOW!!! Lucky for us these teams are in opposite districts. I would hate to see what happens if they played a game with real umpires.
  12. Hold on everyone. I've heard that the scrimmage didn't even have umpires. Is this true?
  13. Calm down guys. It seems you are putting to much emphasis on a scrimmage.
  14. I hate to hear this. This young man was a good ball player. Is he a senior?
  15. Bridge City Diboll Jasper Silsbee Vidor
  16. I wish he would walk all the way to Arlington!!! Heck, I bet Hicks would send his private jet to Chicago so Zambrano wouldn't have to walk.
  17. Jasper and Barbers Hill have a good middle infield.
  18. Silsbee will have a new white uniform this year. It looks like LSU's white uniform. I will try to get a picture posted later.
  19. What a great trip. Can I go with you? I've been to Wrigley Field, Miller Park, and Turner Field over the last two years. This years trip will consist of Jacobs Field, Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, and The Pro Football HOF in Canton. What can you tell me about Jacobs?
  20. I would say that WO-S is the preseason favorite, followed by Silsbee and Kirbyville.
  21. I'm curious to see how many schools have a baseball class. I think teams that have this luxury have a huge advantage. Espically at the beginning of the year. You can get all the teaching done before the season begins and go right into practice. Please put the name of the school and the district that the school is in.
  22. This came from the Beaumont Enterprise. (1/29) TALLAHASSEE,Fla.- Perky is one tough bird. The ring-neck duck survived being shot and spending two days in a hunter's refrigerator-and now she's had a close brush with death on a veterinarian's operating table. The one-pound female duck stopped breathing Saturday during surgery to repair gunshot damage to one wing, said Noni Beck of the Goose Creek Wildlife Sanctuary. Veterinarian David Hale revived the bird after several tense moments by performing CPR. Perky entered the headlines last week after a hunter's wife opened her refrigerator door and the should've-been-dead duck lifted its head and looked at her. The bird had been in the fridge for two days since being shot and presumed killed Jan. 15. Perky is recovering with a pin installed in the fractured wing.
  23. This is no contest. Iron Dawg, from Jasper.
