  1. This is one of my favorite. Are The Good Times Really Over I wish a buck was still silver It was back when the country was strong Back before Elvis Before the Vietnam war came along Before The Beatles and 'Yesterday' When a man could still work, still would The best of the free life behind us now And are the good times really over for good? Are we rolling down hill Like a snowball headed for Hell? With no kind of chance For the Flag or the Liberty Bell Wish a Ford and a Chevy Could still last ten years, like they should Is the best of the free life behind us now? Are the good times really over for good? I wish Coke was still Cola And a joint was a bad place to be It was back before Nixon lied to us all on TV Before microwave ovens When a girl could still cook and still would The best of the free life behind us now Are the good times really over for good? Are we rolling down hill Like a snowball headed for Hell? With no kind of chance For the Flag or the Liberty Bell Wish a Ford and a Chevy Could still last ten years, like they should Is the best of the free life behind us now? Are the good times really over for good? Stop rolling down hill Like a snowball headed for Hell Stand up for the Flag And let's all ring the Liberty Bell Let's make a Ford and a Chevy Still last ten years like they should The best of the free life is still yet to come The good times ain't over for good
  2. You couldn't be more wrong. Non-athletes do have to wake up and go to class. That's why they are in school in the first place. Go to class to get a degree. Now, if you want to talk about meetings and practice, you are right. Non-athletes do not have meetings and practice. However, they do have these things called jobs. How about going to class from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm then work from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm or later? These jobs are how non-athletes pay their way through school since they are not receiving $41,000 a year in scholarships. Find me another 18-22 year old, without a college degree, that is pulling in $41,000 a year.
  3. Players do get paid. They get either a free education (full scholarship) or an education at a reduced amount (partial scholarship) that regular old students do not get. According to this website //www.ua.edu/about/quickfacts, it costs, on average, $20,755 per semester to attend Alabama. That's somewhere around $166,040 for a 4 year degree. That comes out to players making $41,510 a year while they are at Alabama. Really don't see how players need to be paid anymore than what they already are getting.
  4. Here's a scouting report on Joe Looney. (Bryan Broddaus from dallascowboys.com) Name: Joe Looney Position: OG/C College: Wake Forest Height: 6-3 Weight: 309 Draft: 117th overall by San Francisco, 2012 Games Studied: 2015 Tennessee vs. Carolina, Jacksonville; 2014 San Francisco vs. Seattle Report: Looney is a similar type of player in what they had in Mackenzy Bernadeau, given his athletic ability and position flexibility. He has lined up at center and guard during his NFL career. Belly-to-belly blocker that likes to get tight to his man in order to control him. One knock against him is that he tends to play upright and a little stiff. There’s not much knee bend or flex. He plays with a wide base when it comes to pass protection. He plays with some upper body power and strength, and this allows him to hold his man in place. He also shows some punch and power in his hands. When Looney gets his hands inside, he can be tough to disengage from in this position. There are snaps where his hands get outside the frame of the defender and it will put him in a terrible blocking position. Like Bernadeau, he’s not the smoothest athlete when it comes to getting to the second level. He’s often out of balance and left trying to adjust in space. If he gets close to his man, he has enough power to push him past the play. He can position block all day when he’s one-on-one and he can keep the defender tight. One thing I’ll say for him is that he has really nice awareness to help in the pocket when he is uncovered. As a center, he showed more initial quickness but had his troubles when he had to execute back blocks. Against Seattle in 2014, the opposing defensive linemen were just too fast up the field for him to get in front. He was beaten badly to his off-hand side for a penetration. However, he was aware to adjust to the blitz. He wasn’t fooled by the game upfront and was able to make the correct read. Bottom line: this is a limited athlete that plays with power and smarts. I liked him better as a guard than center but the fact that he can do both helps this team’s situation.
  5. Happy Easter
  6. McFadden, Morris and Dunbar. Backfield looks complete. This pretty much eliminates drafting a RB in the early rounds.
  7. HJ 9 Orangefield 8
  8. If it happened the way you describe, the correct call is out. Why would it not be an out?
  9. Does anyone have the name of the umpire?
  10. I sure hope not. I really hope the DC at Cameron gets the AD/head coaching job.

  15. There is a report on yahoo.com, that Manziel didn't have a concussion. The article says that Manziel showed up to a practice drunk. The Browns made up the concussion story to keep it out of the news. [Hidden Content]
  16. The one 3 years ago was the worst ever. At least this one had tackling in the first half.
  17. IRVING, Texas – As the NFL prepares for Super Bowl 50, it’s been a week of celebration for all of the teams who have participated in the biggest sporting event of the year. For the Cowboys, they’ve played eight of the 49 previous Super Bowls, winning five. At DallasCowboys.com, we’ve figured that is plenty of exposure to come up with our own All-Time Cowboys Super Bowl team. Obviously, this isn’t the greatest players in Cowboys history and it’s not even a list of the best players to play in the Super Bowl. This team is about the performers who shined on the biggest stage. No, Larry Brown isn’t a better overall cornerback than guys like Everson Walls or Deion Sanders, but he’s a headliner on this list, considering he won Super Bowl XXX MVP and has three career picks in the big game. There were some easy choices such as Brown, Emmitt Smith and Harvey Martin. But there were some tough ones as well, especially at quarterback and offensive line. And every team has to have a coach – that might have been the staff’s biggest debate of the entire list. So here’s the Dallas Cowboys All-Time Super Bowl team: Special Teams: P-John Jett K-Chris Boniol KR-Kevin Williams Offense: C-John Fitzgerald G-Blaine Nye G-Nate Newton T-Rayfield Wright (played in 3 super bowls) T-Erik Williams (played in 3 super bowls) TE-Jay Novacek (played in 3 super bowls) WR-Drew Pearson (played in 3 super bowls) WR-Michael Irvin FB-Robert Newhouse RB-Emmitt Smith (MVP of super bowl 28) QB-Troy Aikman (3-0 in super bowls) Defense: DE-Harvey Martin (Co-MVP super bowl 12) DE-Charles Haley DT-Leon Lett DT-Randy White (Co-MVP super bowl 12) OLB-Dixon Edwards (3 super bowls) MLB-Ken Norton Jr OLB-Chuck Howley (Still the only super bowl MVP from a losing team) CB-Larry Brown (MVP super bowl 30) CB-Mel Renfro FS-Thomas Everett (2 Int's) SS-James Washington (4 total turnovers in super bowl) Coach: Tom Landry (5 super bowl appearances)
  18. What about a military? I know we have military bases in Texas, but those bases and the people on them belong to the United States military. I also realize that everyone in Texas owns a gun. Would Texas have a strong enough military to survive?
  19. I wonder why the, "Griffey Three" didn't vote for him? Would love to know who they are and their reason for the non-vote. Junior, or "The Kid" as he was called back then, was my all time favorite baseball player. I loved the way he played centerfield. Full speed all the time and nothing stopped him from getting to the ball. Sweetest swing in baseball. He sure was a lot of fun to watch.
  20. I have a question about a play during the COWBOYS game against Tampa Bay that I'm hoping someone can help me with. Here's my explanation of the play: Tampa's QB, while trying to throw the ball, was hit and lost the ball, COWBOYS recover. The played was ruled a fumble on the field. Replay clearly showed that the QB's arm was moving forward, so the play was overturned and ruled an incomplete pass. Replay also showed that the pass hit an offensive lineman before hitting the ground or anyone else. Why was illegal touching not called against Tampa Bay? The way the play ended up was Tampa was saved by replay and got away with an illegal play. Anyone have an answer?
